Tagawa is one of the largest annual bedding plant suppliers in North America, providing vegetative liners, plugs, and prefinished programs to growers, garden centers, and retailers throughout North America.&nbsp;
 
The HR Assistant position focuses on recruiting and hiring, which means some daily job tasks may include calling prospective applicants, answering questions about the job and organization, evaluating their qualifications against a job description, scheduling interviews, and coordinating start dates and orientations with candidates, supervisors, and HR team members. &nbsp;As an HR Assistant, you will work to support the HR department by processing new hire employee paperwork, sorting electronic files, completing new hire orientations, creating new hire physical and digital personnel files, and of course, introducing new employees to our company!&nbsp;
 
This is a Seasonal position that lasts approximately 6 months during our peak hiring and onboarding season. Training is available in the first 1-2 weeks to shadow year-round staff and prepare for greenhouse and H-2A hiring. Then in November-February, assists the Staffing Manager and Specialist with hiring for general greenhouse workers. Part of this role includes giving orientation training in front of groups of 5-20 people. This training happens 2-3 times per week for general greenhouse workers during this timeframe. Because we contact both local candidates and individuals that are part of our H-2A visa program, conversational fluency in Spanish is highly preferred for this role.&nbsp;
 
In March &amp; April, this position transitions from greenhouse hiring to assist with our InColor Retail hiring. Before April 15th, we hire approximately 150 workers to help out at retail stores across the Colorado region. This time of the year is focused on phone screening and processing new applicants, recording feedback from supervisor interviews in person, and coordinating onsite orientation and training for the first week of April. This part of the year is heavy in telecommunication and phone screens, so experience in customer service, telemarketing, helpline/technical support, or office administration is highly preferred.&nbsp;
At the end of April, there is a potential for this position to interview and transfer into a Sales Associate position to assist with the InColor program, however work in HR ends regardless around Mother’s Day.
 
An ideal candidate for the position would be able to work with a variety of different personalities from different backgrounds, countries, and experiences. The HR Assistant must have strong communication skills that encourage open dialogue between Human Resources and other departments, while understanding the need for discretion when it pertains to confidential and sensitive employee information. POSITION SUMMARY: (Essential Functions of Position) Under the direction of the Director of Communication and Education or designee, the incumbent will engage, train, and precept all newly hired direct support professional and community specialist (DSP) staff during the first ninety days of their employment within the framework of the Core Competencies. This will be accomplished through collaboration with the program management and clinical teams. The Onboarding and Training Coordinator will meet regularly with the newly oriented staff during the first three months of employment. All concerns will be directly communicated to the direct supervisor, Senior Director, and Managing Director. The Onboarding and Training Coordinator will support the program management teams to ensure compliance for DSP staff across programs with on-going required trainings and certifications, as well as developing and completing in-service trainings as needed. Recommends staff recognition activities and initiatives based on feedback solicited from newly hired DSP staff.
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Minimum Education: Bachelors or Associates degree in Human Services, Human Resource Management, or related field preferred. 
 
Minimum Experience: At least three years of experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities with at least one year experience in a training or leadership role.

POSITION TITLE: Onboarding and Training Coordinator
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

In collaboration with program management acts as a preceptor to all newly hired DSP staff during their first ninety days of employment.

In collaboration with program management and clinical staff, provides comprehensive on-site orientation and training to newly hired DSP staff within the framework of the Core Competencies, including completion and submission of the on-site orientation training checklist. 
 
3.
Coordinates with subject matter experts to review with the new DSP all aspects of their job responsibilities/job description, including Staff Action Plan (SAP), Plan of Nursing Service, Behavior Support Plan, Medication Monitoring Plan, Communication Book, Transportation and all other job-related materials, purpose and expectations.
 
4.
Reviews with the new DSP all Agency policies and procedures relevant to their position during orientation. Coordinates scheduling with subject matter experts.
 
5.
Completes introductions of new DSP staff to other team members and key agency personnel. Acts as a support to new DSP staff in connecting them to resources within the Agency.
 
6.
Ensures newly hired DSP staff have the necessary technical assistance to access the software and hardware required to complete their job responsibilities. 
 
7.
Provides direction, supervision, feedback, training to new DSP staff within the first ninety days of employment. Will meet with the newly oriented staff in-person at least once during the second and third month of employment. 
 
8.
Completes observations of newly hired DSP staff within the first ninety days of employment and provides feedback and coaching with regard to performance of job responsibilities and understanding and implementation of the Core Competencies.
 
9.
Ensures that newly hired DSP staff complete all required trainings within the first ninety days of employment, including new employee orientation prior to working in their program; ensures that all training is documented, submitted to Training department to be uploaded into Relias.
 
10.
Acts as a resource and role model for staff across all areas of the organization.
 
11.
Plays an active role in organizational initiatives related to recruitment and training, including those such as international recruitment. 
 
12.
Provides oversight to the Onboarding Liaisons’ workload and provide support coordinating H1B new hire processes, as applicable. 
 
13.
Develops and delivers in-service trainings in areas of identified need, in collaboration with the Manger of Training and Staff Development. 
 
14.
Provides support to the program management teams to ensure compliance for all DSP staff across programs with on-going required trainings and certifications and new trainings as necessary. Meets regularly with the Manager of Training and Staff Development. Reviews annual training status monthly.
 
15.
Recommends staff recognition activities and initiatives based on feedback solicited from newly hired DSP staff. 
 
16.
Evaluates the on-site orientation training guide, process, and experience for new DSP staff on an on-going basis and is responsible to recommend and complete revisions as necessary. 
 
17.
Maintains all required personal trainings; participates in external trainings, committees, and conferences to remain abreast of changes and innovations within the field. Accesses external resources, such as the Regional Centers for Workforce Transformation. Works in collaboration with Training Dept and Human Resources to obtain and disseminate new information and advice on best practices. 
 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1.
Attends and participates in candidate review discussions in collaboration with recruitment and program teams. 
 
2.
Participates in committees as requested. May act as Chairperson of the Agency’s Spirit committee. 
 
3.
