Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEW 
Orange County Public Schools is seeking compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide direct nursing care, health education, and emergency response in a dynamic school environment. Nurses work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, parents, and community health partners to promote student wellness, manage chronic conditions, and ensure a safe learning environment. 
KEY RESPONSIBATILITIES

<li>Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and OCPS protocols. </li>
<li>Perform health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, BMI) as required by Florida statutes. </li>
<li>Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA. </li>
<li>Respond to medical emergencies; initiate CPR/AED and first aid as needed. </li>
<li>Monitor and manage students with chronic conditions (diabetes, asthma, seizures, allergies). </li>
<li>Develop and update Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs). </li>
<li>Implement IHPs and 504 accommodations. </li>
<li>Conduct health education for students, staff, and parents (handwashing, puberty, nutrition). </li>
<li>Track immunizations and ensure compliance with Florida Certificate of Immunization (DH 680). </li>
<li>Collaborate with school staff to identify and refer students with health concerns. </li>
<li>Participate in IEP/504 meetings when health input is required. </li>
<li>Assist with infection control (head lice, flu outbreaks, COVID protocols). </li>
<li>Supervise LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) in delegated tasks. </li>
<li>Perform nursing assessments and triage complex cases. </li>
<li>Train staff on epinephrine auto-injectors, glucagon, and seizure protocols. </li>
<li>Serve as case manager for medically fragile students. </li>
<li>Lead health-related professional development for school staff. </li>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
<li>License: Current Florida RN license (or compact state) </li>
<li>Certification: CPR/AED (American Heart Association or Red Cross) </li>
<li>Experience: 1+ year clinical or pediatric nursing preferred </li>
<li>Background: Level 2 fingerprint clearance (FDLE/FBI) </li>
<li>Other: With OCPS Badge / willing to obtain OCPS badge </li>
