Job Summary for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides services using radionuclides to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of disease. The technologist demonstrates knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of nuclear medicine, radiation protection and specialized techniques. The images are produced and in accordance with the ARRT and CNMT standards. Furthermore, the technologist will perform procedures and QC Test within the guideline set by the Bureau of Radiation Control, South Austin Hospital’s Policies and Procedures Manual and the Radioactive Materials License (RAML). Maintains professional judgment and conduct that is complimentary of the ARRT Code of Ethics and St. David’s Healthcare Values.
Responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
<ul>
<li>Perform Nuclear Medicine exams in accordance with SDMC Medical Imaging protocols.</li>
<li>Administer prescribed pharmaceutical grade radioactive materials to patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.</li>
<li>Demonstrate appropriate radioactive materials safety measures for self, other staff and patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.</li>
<li>Explain procedures to patients prior to exam.</li>
<li>Demonstrate proficiency with equipment used for NM exams (Spect Cameras, and PACS).</li>
<li>Ensure availability of physician for procedures requiring the administration of medications and supervision.</li>
<li>Perform duties to maintain department functions such as QC checks.</li>
<li>Maintain required documentation regarding radioactive materials, both upon receipt and prior to administration.</li>
<li>Perform surveys and document findings of work area, patient rooms, and radioactive waste storage area at appropriately scheduled intervals.</li>
<li>Adhere to policies related to Standard Precautions, Infection Control, and Radiation Safety guidelines as described by TDHS and Joint Commission.</li>
<li>Work with Radiation Safety Officer in maintaining quality control and quality assurance guidelines to ensure all regulatory standards are met, i.e., Texas Dept. of Health and Bureau of Radiation Control.</li>

Qualifications for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist
EDUCATION: 
<ul>
<li>Graduate from an approved Joint Review Committee on Education Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent.</li>
</ul>
EXPERIENCE: 
<ul>
<li>One year of experience as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred</li>
</ul>
LICENSED/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: 
<ul>
<li>Certified or Temporary Certified by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist</li>
<li>Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (CNMT) or Certified in nuclear medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) or Board eligible to take the CNMT or ARRT (N) examinations within 24 months </li>
<li>Is a graduated from an approved Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) and eligible to take the CNMT or ARRT (N) within 24 months</li>
<li>Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date</li>

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Nuclear Medicine Technician prepare and administer radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals. You will perform patient imaging procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation. You will provide images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. The patient population may range from newborn to geriatric.

Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you would perform all established nuclear medicine procedures You would perform required calibration and quality checks noting results in appropriate logs, while practicing radiation safety and observe universal precautions at all times. 
You would order, prepare and store radiopharmaceuticals; administer intravenous or venous line injections of radiopharmaceuticals as authorized by physician, as well as administer radioisotopes parenterally when legally permissible. Interact with physician to adjust diagnostic studies program/plan. Manipulate raw data. Review studies for correct positioning and overall quality. Perform decontamination procedures and maintains security of all "hot" and "decay" areas You will participate in on-call duties and/or work variable shifts to meet department needs. 
Requirements
Required: Graduate from an Accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Certification by CNMT or ARRT in Nuclear Medicine licensure. Basic Life Support Certification. Ability to perform Nuclear Medicine procedures following accepted standards and protocols.

Job Summary and Qualifications 
Nuclear Medicine Tech&nbsp;
 
The Nuclear Medicine (NM) Technologist performs general nuclear medicine and PET CT exams providing the highest level of customer service and image quality. The NM tech also receives, calibrates, logs, administers and monitors the decay of radioactive isotopes following appropriate policies, procedures and radiation safety practices.&nbsp;
 
What you will do in this role:&nbsp;
 
<ul>
<li>&nbsp;You will perform and maintain all accreditations for the hot lab.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will create a department on-call schedule for staff.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will supervise the nuclear technologists and is the primary point of contact for resolving questions and issues.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will perform nuclear medicine exams following protocols and in a timely manner, ensuring a high quality of care.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will receive, calibrate, log, administer and monitor the decay of radioactive isotopes&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will provide radiation safety support in the event of a radiation incident/spill&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will record patients' medical information&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will coordinate patient flow and check the daily list to ensure all exams are complete.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will inform the patient about the procedure and answer questions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will interact and professionally communicate with co-workers, physicians, patients, and family members.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will maintain all licenses, certifications, and accreditations required as outlined in Job Qualifications&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will adhere to the facility ICARE values&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will prepare education the patient on discharge instructions&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will demonstrate the ability to perform technical skills and procedures.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will be knowledgeable in the handling of radioactive materials.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will properly measure radioactive waste and know how to dispose of it properly in accordance with regulatory guidelines.&nbsp;</li>

&nbsp;What qualifications you will need:&nbsp;&nbsp;

<li>&nbsp;Graduation from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine&nbsp;</li>
<li>Current registry by CNMT or ARRT (N) is required.&nbsp;</li>
<li>BLS required&nbsp;</li>
<li>PET CT experience preferred&nbsp;</li>

&nbsp;Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
