Purpose: The primary representative of OConnor Mortuary who oversees, organizes and accomplishes the service expectations of the family while working within defined policies and parameters of OConnor Mortuary, the clergy or church and State law governing funeral service direction standards.

Job Description:Service directors are responsible for leading, managing and delivering flawless service and assistance to the grieving families we serve. Service events include but not limited too, funerals with a body and casket present, memorials where an urn and cremated remains may or may not be present, visitation services and receptions. Events are held at O'Connor chapel/facilities or any outside venue like a church. Two positions exist within this job description. Lead Service Director and Co-Service director. Lead Service Director is ultimately responsible for ensuring all aspects are carried out per instructions and family needs. Working directly with the family, Clergy, Church staff if needed, guests etc. Co Director role is to support and assist the lead director as needed.
 
Duties:GM/OM will assign Service Directors to specific families/events. Directors will meet with the Arranger who met with the family originally too design and create a healing and meaningful event unique to this family. Arrangers will huddle with Directors to communicate the event details, family needs, any special requests etc. A written "Service instruction form " is created by the arranger so the director has the details in writing for the day of the event.Service directors will drive fleet vehicles like hearse or van, bring all service equipment needed and arrive early to set up the event prior to the families arrival. Director will greet the family and coverthe details of the event, greet guests, coordinate with clergy and bereavement teams too make sure all are on the same page to ensure a flawless service or event..
 
Training:Training consist of on the job shadow training. You shadow the Lead Director or veteran director to observe, listen and absorb the experience in real time. After this process the trainee then takes the lead role as the trainer shadows them to assist as needed and continuethe training process as the trainee puts into practice what they have learned. Once the trainee is ready they are then observed by the GM, COO or Lead Service director to insure proper training and are signed off as trained or continue the training process as needed.

<li>Within 24 months following the issuance of the pre-need sales agent licensed by the Iowa Insurance Division, a Family Service Counselor shall begin the process of receiving CPC certification from the National Funeral Directors Association.</li>

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Staff Associate at Skylawn Memorial Park in CA. Our administrative teams assume the crucial role of ensuring seamless operations throughout every stage of the delicate client family life cycle, from the initial meeting with families, until final arrangements are made. We serve as the cornerstone of our client family support structure, acting as the glue that holds everything together. We are problem solvers and peace-of-mind-providers - we uphold our commitment to care in every interaction.
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with funeral directors with events held on-site, including services and arrangement conferences</li>
<li>Establish and maintain strong business relationships with families</li>
<li>Always maintain reverence and respect for the deceased</li>
<li>Assist in preparing the memorial area for the family before the services start</li>
<li>Ensure that flowers and other memorabilia are returned to the family after services</li>
<li>Answer customer inquiries professionally, either by phone or in person</li>
</ul>
Qualifications
<ul>
<li>1 year of experience in customer service preferred</li>
<li>Experience handling difficult situations</li>
<li>Funeral professional experience preferred</li>
</ul>
Salary Range:$21-$24/hr.
