About the role
 
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the construction activities related to expanding and upgrading our fiber optic network infrastructure. You will ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety and quality standards.
 
Responsibilities:

<li>Managing construction personnel and delegating tasks to meet deadlines.</li>
<li>Performing regular inspections of the construction site to ensure designs are followed, specifications and standards are adhered to, site is kept clean of all debris, garbage, or other hazards.</li>
<li>Manage customer complaints through resolution, interfacing directly with customers as needed and enforcing SLA for contractor resolution of any customer complaints.</li>
<li>Identifying potential safety hazards and managing them accordingly.</li>
<li>Ensuring all personnel comply with health and safety practices, such as wearing the appropriate protective equipment, adhere to safe excavation methods, and abide by any state specific 811/One Call utility requirements.</li>
<li>Organizing work schedules.</li>
<li>Checking work techniques are correct and safe per industry standards.</li>
<li>Assisting Construction Managers with planning work activities.</li>
<li>Completing site reports and other records daily to include production reports.</li>
<li>Attending site management meetings daily.</li>

CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR
Direct and oversee the construction crews in the field daily for Michigan Broadband Services, a provider of high-speed communications services with service areas throughout Upper and Northern Lower Michigan. This ideal candidate will have knowledge of Construction Engineering and Project Management and will report directly to the Project Manager. Must be willing to travel in Michigan. 
RESPONSIBILITES:
Supervises detailed fiber-to-the-home construction for new plant installation, replacement, removal, or rearrangement of existing infrastructure, utilizing industrys best practices to achieve maximum performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, accompanied by detailed opinions of probable costs including all labor, equipment, and materials to allow for accurate cost-study evaluations. Requires a strong knowledge in fiber-to-the-home system architectures, outside plant construction, and various computer skills. Collaborate with outside engineering contractors to supervise and review plans, designs, and specifications. Ensures company compliance with current telecommunications facilities in accordance with industry practices, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Provides project management and quality control of outside plant construction related projects and activities related to the telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards. Makes recommendations to determine which projects will require outside contractors, assisting with the vendor solicitation and selection process, and coordinating with contractors to schedule and complete the work as agreed upon. Ensures all preliminary requirements are met prior to construction starting. Inspects work compliance and quality and ensures cleanup throughout jobs.
Manages the Construction team, scheduling and assigning work for construction crews and fiber optic cable technicians making the best use of available staff throughout all seasons, weather patterns, and varying workloads. Attending meetings with management and other departments to ensure company objectives are met, relaying information to and from staff as needed. Responsible for the development and implementation of methods, procedures, and practices used by the Construction department. 
Manages cable and construction material inventory, recording quantities on hand, and ordering as necessary to ensure sufficient resources are available to complete current and planned projects as scheduled. In addition, the Construction Supervisor continually looks for new and improved ways of completing the above functions. Other tasks assigned by management will be performed to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
 Preference given to a bachelors degree in construction management or another related field
 5+ years of industry experience in underground or aerial utilities is a plus.
 Must have strong leadership and management skills.
 Knowledge and understanding of project management includes estimating and preconstruction.
 Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-project. 
 Must have a valid drivers license and be insurable under Company fleet policy.
 Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
