Inside Machinist Position Summary The Inside Machinist is responsible for the repairing and maintaining shipboard mechanical equipment. Fixing, servicing, aligning, setting up, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical principles. Inspects, maintains, and repairs marine vessels of all sizes. Works on vessels’ hulls, engines, transmissions, navigational equipment, and sometimes electrical propulsion. Must possess knowledge of general mechanics of marine vessels in additional to knowledge of general machines to repair marine vessels and/or marine components, parts, etc. Must be good with a wide spectrum of tools. Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Repair, modify, or overhaul various types of equipment or systems</li>
<li>Set up and operate portable machining tools or equipment</li>
<li>Manufacture, repair, and rebuild parts/items of equipment from raw stock of different metals and metal alloys through the use of conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools and precision handwork</li>
<li>Tests and inspects installed machinery and equipment</li>
<li>Perform pump alignment to motor</li>
<li>Dismantles, repairs, or replaces defective parts and reassemble machinery using tools such as: chain hoists, steel rollers, etc.</li>
<li>Install ship machinery such as propelling machinery and steering gear working from blueprints and using hand tools, calipers, and micrometers</li>
<li>Fabricates replacement parts, using machine shop tools such as lathe, boring mill, planer, shaper and milling machine</li>
<li>Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs</li>
<li>Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear</li>
<li>Repairs, replaces, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment</li>
<li>Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs</li>

 Education, Training &amp; Experience
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 5+ years of related experience required</li>
<li>High School/GED with Apprenticeship Diploma and additional vocational courses or technical school graduate</li>

General Summary
Based on supplied and developed engineering detail; perform calculations, draft CAD drawings and transfer engineering data to aid field staff and craft to make required equipment modifications; install new equipment; and develop RFI's. Market served is heavy industrial construction. Equipment or materials typically encountered includes but is not limited to pressure vessels, piping systems or structural steel.
Essential Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Mobilize to site and work from temporary facilities for protracted periods of time to ensure expected results.</li>
<li>Manages his/her day to day assignment for timely task completion.</li>
<li>Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily personal actions.</li>
<li>Proactively work with the Safety Department monitoring Site Safety Compliance, this may include presenting safety related information to Craft Safety meetings.</li>
<li>Archive and maintain project documents per Nooter Management System, NMS, procedures as directed by the Site PM.</li>
<li>Create and audit Engineering Document Files Logs.</li>
<li>Develop Requests for Information, Field Change Orders and their logs as directed by the Site PM.</li>

<li>Research and recommend resolutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interference and errors.</li>

<li>Work with the assigned Rigging Engineer completing field measurements for crane placements and provide technical support and direction to implement rigging plans when necessary.</li>

<li>Prepare and disseminate required documentation records, such as status reports, punch lists for uncompleted work, red-line drawings of completed work, material requirement calculations, etc., to appropriate staff or customer personnel.</li>

Job Description:
This role will be based at a 250-person chemical manufacturing facility located near Lafayette, IN. You will be a member of a process engineering team doing small capital projects, process optimization and some day-to-day support. The parent company has several facilities throughout the United States and there is a defined advancement plant. The bonus target for this role starts at 5% and within 1-3 years, depending on performance, you will be promoted to a Senior Process Engineer role that has a bonus target of 20%. This company has an excellent relocation policy as well, providing for moving costs, the costs of breaking a lease or selling and home, and a house-hunting trip to the area.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

<li>Assemble and erect steel structures and equipment using hoisting equipment and hand tools</li>
<li>Dismantle machinery for repair or salvage using cutting torch and welding machine</li>
<li>Perform welding on structural steel shapes and pipe plates; cut and shape metal parts</li>
<li>Trim excess metal from welded joints to correct measurements using grinders and shears</li>
<li>Repair or replace electrical components such as wiring, motors, compressors, and pumps</li>
<li>Load/unload materials in bulk storage facilities (under licensed contractor direction)</li>
<li>Measure and calculate load heights and stability using tape measures, slide rules, and compasses</li>
<li>Plan and design structural placements using layout equipment and measuring devices</li>
</ul>
Qualifications and Requirements

<li>Verifiable experience as a Millwright or Boilermaker</li>
<li>Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to read blueprints/schematics</li>
<li>Proficient in welding, metal cutting, and operating industrial tools</li>
