About the Role: UPS Industrial Services is seeking skilled and experienced Boilermakers to join our team. The ideal candidates will be based locally in the Chalmette, LA area, possess extensive experience and proficiency in the trade, and demonstrate the ability to interpret and work from blueprints, plans, and other technical drawings. These positions will involve maintenance and turnaround work as required. The roles are typically long-term. Please note, there is no per diem offered for these positions. Requirements:

Responsibilities:

<li>Be familiar and be able to interpret the results of various NDE methods such as PT, MT, UT and RT.</li>
<li>Deal with AI, client reps. and third party inspectors.</li>
<li>Be proficient in the testing of assembled vessels by pumping water or gas under specified pressure into vessels and observing the vessels and instruments for evidence of leakage.</li>
</ul>
Job Duties &amp; Essential Functions: :
<ul>
<li>Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.</li>
<li>Use knowledge of towers/columns, exchangers, boilers, heaters, reactors, drums, fin fans, pressure vessels, and other industrial equipment to perform duties</li>
<li>Properly select and use manual, pneumatic, and electric tools according to tasks</li>
<li>Hoist equipment and tools into location via bull rigging or crane.</li>
<li>Repair and replace trays and other internal components</li>
<li>Perform or assist with pulling bundles</li>
<li>Repair and replace boiler tubes</li>
<li>Fabricate equipment according to blueprints or instruction from Supervision</li>
<li>Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.</li>
<li>Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.</li>
<li>Bolt align structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.</li>
<li>Able to properly bolt and torque components according to equipment specifications</li>
<li>Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.</li>
<li>Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.</li>
<li>Help maintain a safe and clean work environment</li>
<li>Perform all other duties as required</li>
</ul>
Qualifications and Experience:

<li>Minimum of 8 years Boilermaker experience in Industrial or Petrochemical setting</li>
<li>NCCER certification a plus</li>

General Job Description:
Assembles and disassembles, erects and repairs boilers, tanks, vats, pressure vessels, exchangers and heaters according to blueprint specifications.
 Functional Requirements:
Locates and marks reference points for columns and plates on foundation; attaches rigging or signals crane operator to lift parts to specified position; aligns structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame, tanks or vats; hammers, flame-cuts, files or grinds irregular edges of sections or structural parts to facilitate fitting edges together; bolts structures and sections together; positions drums and headers into supports or bolts supports to frame; aligns water tubes and connects and expands tube ends to drums and headers; bolts casing sections, uptakes, stacks, baffles and such fabricated parts as chutes, air heaters, fan stands, feeding tube, catwalks, ladders, coal hoppers and safety hatch to frame; installs trays in process towers; installs manholes, valves, gauges and feedwater connection in drums to complete assembly of water tube boilers; assists in testing assembled vessels.
 
Qualification Standards:
• High school or equivalent • One to four years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level) • Written pre-employment qualification test • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation • Hazard Communication orientation/test • Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination • OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87) • Job site orientation • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.) • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.) • Demonstrated proficiency in construction tool use (i.e. grinders, oxy/acetylene torch) • Rigging • National Certification preferred (may be required by client) • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
 Tools/Equipment:
Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box, crescent wrenches, tape, spud wrenches, hammer, tri square, striker, burning goggles, tip cleaners, work gloves, framing square, level, torpedo level, center punch, channel locks, set of combination wrenches, pipe wrench, hacksaw, rain suit
