Job Description
The Pricing Actuary ("PA") plays a crucial role in supporting IFG Companies' underwriting including in maintaining rate adequacy and in improving pricing tools that will benefit the underwriting portfolio of the assigned underwriting units.
The ideal candidate will be technically strong, collaborative and skilled at driving pricing improvements from concept through implementation. Most importantly, the PA will deliver actionable insights that support profitable and sustained growth.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING

<li>Conducting regular rate indication studies to ensure profitability and support business unit financial goals.</li>

What You'll Do:

<li>Be the #1 subject matter expert at Next related to the pricing of the Professional Liability, Workers Compensation, or General Liability product (we have openings in all three LOB's)</li>
<li>Build and enhance actuarial methodologies around loss ratio forecast, rate indications, insurance analytics, and P&amp;L management</li>
<li>Partner with Insurance Product Managers to drive future product developments</li>
<li>Partner with data science and data engineering to enable future-proof data architecture </li>
<li>Deliver actuarially sound recommendations to senior management</li>
<li>Provide ad hoc support to other business partners, including but not limited to reinsurance, finance, distribution, claims, and growth teams. </li>

What We Need:

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. As a dedicated credentialed Actuary on the Small Business Insurance team at USAA, you will be at the forefront of building and enhancing our commercial lines actuarial and analytics capabilities. What you'll do:

<li>Apply advanced actuarial knowledge to complete broad and complex projects (e.g., evaluates and selects methodology to price new discount/endorsement for countrywide rollout; develops alternative methodologies to comply with complex regulatory requirements; selects metrics and designs processes to monitor model performance; translates business problems into technical requirements and performs required analysis to develop solutions; independently runs catastrophe models and interprets and communicates results to support critical business activities, while enhancing the control environment as needed.</li>
<li>Utilize advanced actuarial, mathematical, or statistical techniques to augment actuarial work product.</li>
<li>Lead special actuarial projects, such as the development of new methodologies or reporting tools.</li>
<li>Train new team members on the theory and mechanics of relevant actuarial methodologies.</li>
<li>Apply deep understanding of products supported, stakeholders’ needs, and industry trends to solve unstructured business problems.</li>
<li>Identify and anticipates compliance gaps and process improvements; recommends and develops solutions to mitigate risk.</li>
<li>Represents Actuary in cross-functional efforts.</li>
<li>Develop written communication and presentations that effectively convey data-driven solutions to broad audiences, including cross-functional executive leadership.</li>
<li>Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.</li>

What you have:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related Actuarial/business/analytical experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.</li>
<li>4 years of Actuarial or analytical business experience.</li>
<li>Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) Credential.</li>
<li>Demonstrated advanced skills with relevant actuarial, mathematical, and statistical techniques and approaches used to support fact-based decision-making.</li>
<li>Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, developing analysis queries and procedures in Python, R, SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data &amp; methods and ability to connect external insights to business problems.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience communicating complex solutions and analysis to both technical and nontechnical audiences, including executive leadership.</li>
</ul>
