The Team

The Impact

SSPA will be responsible for structuring and pricing new NA FINSOL transactions. The position will work closely with the FINSOL business development team on new opportunities and will include some amount of travel. The position will also have an emphasis on product development.

This Director will be responsible for developing and training other analysts on the Catastrophe reserving process - creating and maintaining onboarding training documentation and facilitating the technical skills development of the loss reserving team as a whole.
This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.

<li>Oversee the development of product line reserving assumptions while ensuring reserve guidelines are met.</li>
<li>Direct the development of new products and implementation of process improvements.</li>
<li>Provide short and long-term planning recommendations for unit objectives by developing and analyzing forecasts.</li>
<li>Manage and is accountable for the work of assigned employees.</li>
<li>Perform personnel management functions, including employee selection, team building, project/workload assignment, employee training, monitoring of work activity and performance evaluation.</li>
<li>Ensure that reserve analysis and estimates are congruent with the company's reserve strategy and goals.</li>
<li>Facilitate the development and implementation of products and projects.</li>
<li>Monitor competitive market, industry trends, and professional research to maintain knowledge of current activities related to products, regulations, market conditions, and innovative alternatives to achieve financial and market goals.</li>
<li>Represent USAA's interest at industry level committee meetings.</li>
<li>Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.</li>

<li>Bachelor’s Degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.</li>
<li>8 or more years relevant experience.</li>
<li>3 or more years of direct team lead or management experience required.</li>
<li>Five (5) exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society.</li>

As a dedicated Director over a P&amp;C Loss Reserving team, you will plan, organize, direct, and staff actuarial activities required to perform the Catastrophe reserve analysis within Loss Reserving.&nbsp; This director will be responsible for the strategic development of a new Catastrophe reserving model that considers all available information of the event, exposures, and claims at the time of the event and continuously refreshes the estimates with new information as it becomes available.&nbsp; The Director will also be responsible for strategically enhancing the Catastrophe reserving process by integrating this model into the existing model and month-end process through effective performance monitoring of the Catastrophe reserving models.
