Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow&nbsp; Department of Spanish and Portuguese New York University Arts and Science APFF (Managing Editor, Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies + language teaching) The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at New York University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow (APFF) position in the field of Spanish Peninsular literature and culture. Area of expertise may range from medieval to contemporary, with specialty and chronological focus open. The APFF’s primary responsibility will be to serve as Managing Editor for the Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies with an additional 1:1 course load teaching Spanish language courses in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Our department is composed of a diverse group of scholars who have worked together to create a rigorous and inclusive environment for research and teaching. In addition to literature, history, and philosophy, faculty in our department work in a range of inter-related areas in the field of cultural studies (including archival studies, animal studies, sexuality studies, migration studies, post-colonial studies, and transatlantic studies) while encouraging new approaches to the study of visual culture, print culture, sound, and performance studies. Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow, Department of Spanish and Portuguese

Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time pathologist for appointment to join our Hematopathology Division on the School of Medicine’s clinician-teacher pathway. Clinical responsibilities will include reporting of morphology for lymph nodes, tissues, bloods and marrows, as well as flow cytometry (diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing) and may include molecular diagnostic testing, hemoglobin electrophoresis and coagulation reporting, depending on the interests of the candidate. Educational activities include teaching hematology / hematopathology to students, technologists, residents and fellows. &nbsp;Applicants are expected to be involved in administrative aspects of the lab, including new test development, and develop an area of focused research / scholarly work.&nbsp;

To meet areas of university strategic growth in global graduate education and impact, New hires will join an excellent, experienced and dynamic faculty and staff highly committed to exceptional education and student experience, the School for Professional Studies at Saint Louis University is seeking multiple, full-time faculty in the areas of information systems, cybersecurity, analytics, research methods and related disciplines.
All are open-rank, non-tenure track full-time faculty positions, with a nine-month contract running from August to May (renewed annually, with multi-year contracts possible after the first year). Candidates will teach up to seven graduate-level courses during the daytime with the bulk of the teaching occurring on campus. However, there is the possibility to teach select online sections if need dictates. There are also potential summer, flexible, online teaching opportunities.

The Department of History at Santa Clara University,a Jesuit, Catholic university,&nbsp;seeks applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship (full-time) in the history of the American West with research and teaching interests in the history of technology in the 20th and 21st centuries, the history of California, and/or the history of Silicon Valley, to begin fall 2024. Applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss how their research and teaching intersect with and leverage our location in Santa Clara Valley on the site of the historic Spanish mission Santa Clara, built on the ancestral lands of the Ohlone and the Muwekma Ohlone peoples. SCU is on the quarter system and faculty are expected to teach 6 courses per year (2 each quarter), assuming they are engaged in an active scholarship program.

We seek a historian who can engage with the broader social, demographic, and environmental forces that transformed the “Valley of Heart’s Delight” into “Silicon Valley.” We are particularly interested in a scholar with expertise in digital humanities and public history. Historians who are able to take a long view of the development of northern California from its earliest and persistent Indigenous inhabitants to the technological transformation of the 20th and 21st centuries are especially welcome. We are also looking for historians who can connect the history of technology and the computer industry to various dynamics of the 20th and 21st centuries that it has affected. Such intersections could include the environmental and social impacts of technological development and modern capitalism; . data justice, surveillance, and control; labor and migration shifts, particularly immigration from Asia; and problems of race and gender equity in technology fields. The successful candidate will be able to help our students critically assess popular narratives about the technology industry and its role in our society and develop a complex understanding of its impact on the social and historical dynamics of the modern world.&nbsp;

Demonstrated interest in including students in their research program is preferred. A Ph.D. in US History is required, but advanced ABDs may apply if the PhD will be completed by the contract start date, September 1, 2024. More specifically, duties include but are not limited to:

Teaching
1. Teach lower- and upper-division courses in the major and university core curriculum, as assigned by the chair, including courses like the history of technology.&nbsp; SCU is on the quarter system and a typical load is two courses per quarter. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
a. &nbsp; &nbsp; Conducting and appearing at all assigned class meetings in a timely and prepared manner that demonstrates a command of the discipline and skill in presenting it effectively.
b.&nbsp; &nbsp; Assigning and evaluating written work, projects, and exams that align with course or core learning objectives and providing timely feedback to students.
c. &nbsp; &nbsp; Holding weekly office hours at times reasonably convenient to students.
d.&nbsp; &nbsp; Assigning and submitting student grades that are appropriate, accurate, and fair measures of student performance to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline.
e.&nbsp; &nbsp; Administering numerical and narrative evaluations in each section for all courses.
2. Develop and teach courses that contribute to curriculum development in the history major and university core.&nbsp; Faculty teaching university core courses should follow an approved syllabus or work with the chair to design an appropriate syllabus for submission for approval from the relevant Faculty Core Curriculum Committee.
3. Participate in assessment of student learning for courses in the department.
4. Provide informed advice and mentoring to undergraduate students.
5. Fulfill other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or by the Chair of the History Department.

Research
1. Develop a research program at SCU that will result in the publication of peer-reviewed publications, monographs, and/or creative work per the department scholarship standards.
2. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program that can accommodate participation of undergraduates.

Service
1. Provide effective service to the Department of History, the College, the University and profession through contributions other than teaching and scholarship such as service on committees, participation in professional organizations and activities, leadership, and community service performed by virtue of professional expertise or association with the university as appropriate to rank and experience. &nbsp;
