Essential job functions

<li>Underwrite a full range of mortgage loans including Conventional, Conventional, FHA and VA</li>

Education and Experience:
<ul>
<li>Have a minimum of 2 – 4 years lending experience in both mortgage and consumer lending</li>
<li>Thorough working knowledge of FHA, UDSA, VA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting engines (DU/LP)</li>
<li>Bachelor’s Degree in a related field</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of income calculations, tax returns, reading credit reports, identifying red flag,</li>
<li>Basic knowledge of appraisal and ability to recognize red flags and ineligible properties</li>
<li>Ability to review legal documentation, title reports, insurance policies, flood certificates</li>
<li>Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as the ability to develop a working knowledge of other programs and systems </li>

The Underwriter I plays a key role in reviewing merchant applications for payment processing, evaluating risk, and ensuring compliance with bank and industry requirements. This role is ideal for someone early in their underwriting career who is eager to learn, grow, and make an impact in a fast paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Review merchant applications to assess risk and determine acceptance based on underwriting guidelines</li>
<li>Interpret and analyze credit reports, business registrations, financial statements, and tax returns</li>
<li>Verify and confirm information submitted on merchant applications</li>
<li>Ensure daily applications are processed accurately and in a timely manner</li>
<li>Communicate with agents regarding pending applications and required documentation</li>
<li>Identify patterns, potential risks, and process improvements</li>
<li>Navigate multiple systems and platforms to update and track application status</li>
<li>Support team initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned</li>

QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Previous experience in credit, risk, finance, or a related field preferred</li>
<li>Merchant underwriting experience a plus but not required</li>
<li>Experience with TSYS a plus</li>
<li>Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe PDF</li>
<li>Ability to quickly learn new proprietary software (CRM) and third party vendor systems</li>
<li>Strong problem solving skills with the ability to apply innovative solutions</li>

SALARY:
This role includes quarterly profit-sharing bonuses as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, retirement planning, and/or other benefits.

<li>Salary including quarterly profit-sharing bonus and comprehensive benefits program range (annualized): $67,725 - $ 73,725 </li>

Job Summary:
As a member of our Private Client Select underwriting team you will focus on underwriting personal lines Property &amp; Casualty products for high net-worth individuals in the US.
 
Key Responsibilities:

<li>Responsible for underwriting a book consisting of large accounts and complex risks for partner brokers.</li>
<li>Rapidly evaluates, prioritizes, and selects submissions to ensure completeness and rate adequacy, evaluate risks and controls, and ensure compatibility with risk appetite.</li>
<li>Identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls. Analyze claims and quantifying losses.</li>
<li>Adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks. Use sophisticated underwriting and producer management tools to meet profitability goals.</li>
<li>Offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.</li>
<li>Meet new business and renewal retention goals through strong negotiation and communication skills which may involve virtual and onsite meetings with brokers, clients, or centers of influence.</li>
<li>Identify and target new business and cross sell opportunities by building relationships with producers and account managers.</li>

<li>Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts to drive account and portfolio strategies.</li>
<li>Document underwriting files accordingly per authority statements and guidelines.</li>
<li>Review, evaluate, and recommend modifications to underwriting guidelines and workflows.</li>
<li>Engage in various underwriting and marketing projects to improve overall company results.</li>
<li>Strictly adhere to the underwriting authority vested by the insurance carrier partner.</li>
<li>Utilize knowledge of the company’s products and services to connect with agents and increase submissions.</li>
<li>Optimize profitable, new business growth by implementing marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, acquire new customers and establish a reputation as an industry leader.</li>

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Education:

<li>2-7 years of Personal Lines Property &amp; Casualty Insurance underwriting experience or relevant professional experience</li>
<li>Property &amp; Casualty Licensure required or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.</li>
<li>Analytical and quantitative skills.</li>
<li>Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.</li>
