Position Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time academic Anatomic Pathologist in Gastrointestinal (GI), Hepatic and Pancreatic Pathology. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a full-time, 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30) position and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2024 but is flexible.
Qualifications Candidates must have subspecialty expertise in Gastrointestinal, Hepatic and Pancreatic pathology. Must have demonstrated excellence in teaching (didactic, conference-based and over-the-microscope). Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or -certified in Anatomic Pathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. Distinguishing Features of the Class: Under supervision of attending physician(s) and in accordance with New York State laws and Hospital Board regulations, an incumbent in this class provides medical and surgical care in the division of Cardiothoracic Surgery of Westchester Medical Center. SUMMARY
The Surgical Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides advanced care in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative settings. Working under the supervision of a licensed surgeon, the PA supports surgical procedures, conducts patient assessments, develops care plans, and ensures continuity of care across the surgical continuum. 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

<li>Conduct comprehensive histories and physical exams</li>
<li>Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed</li>

<li>Intraoperative Assistance

<li>Postoperative Management

<li>manage wound care, drains, and dressings</li>

EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

<li>Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program</li>

<li>Minimum 1 year experience of surgical or OR experience preferred</li>
