Position Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time academic Anatomic Pathologist in Gastrointestinal (GI), Hepatic and Pancreatic Pathology. The selected candidate will be expected to work with medical students, residents and fellows working on GI pathology clinical services. Participation in autopsy service is expected. This position involves both independent and collaborative research with clinicians and basic science investigators, utilizing general surgical pathology and subspecialty skills in often complicated cases.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors: $18,170 to $26,577 per month ($218,039 to $318,927 annually); Associate Professors: $21,903 to $30,049 per month ($262,831 to $360,592 annually); Professors: $26,023 to $39,377 per month ($312,274 to $472,526 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.&nbsp;
Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a full-time, 12-month service period (July 1 – June 30) position and remains open until filled with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2024 but is flexible.
Qualifications Candidates must have subspecialty expertise in Gastrointestinal, Hepatic and Pancreatic pathology. Must have demonstrated excellence in teaching (didactic, conference-based and over-the-microscope). Candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. (or foreign equivalent) and be Board-eligible or -certified in Anatomic Pathology. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

This end-to-end involvement enables surgical PAs to provide unparalleled continuity of patient care. This position will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings and can perform independently under the license of a physician or as part of a treatment team. The Surgical PA position will take call as required or as outlined by their supervising physician, manager or lead. This position should be in the OR a minimum of 30%. In addition, the Surgical PA position exams, diagnoses and decides treatment for patients, including analyzing and interpreting x-rays and lab results, writes prescriptions, takes patients' histories and orders various forms of therapy. This position affects direct patient care according to the Board of Physician Assistant Examiners in the State of Texas and Houston Methodist policies and procedures.

Position objective: The surgical orthopedic APP will perform all required clinical duties, including patient evaluation and management in the orthopedic outpatient clinic setting. They will also function as a first assist for orthopedic surgeons.
Job duties:

<li>Work collaboratively with clinical teams in managing orthopedic patients in the outpatient clinic and operative environments.</li>
<li>Independently support general orthopedic surgery and orthopedic surgery subspecialty care as first assist in the OR, diagnose and treat outpatient visits, and provide occasional inpatient rounding at Columbus Community Hospital.</li>
<li>Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures, and interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to establish a working diagnosis.</li>
<li>Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including, but not limited to, joint and bursa aspiration; injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and buras; and brace, splint and cast applications. Order and collect appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures and studies as needed.</li>
