Pay and Benefits:
Hiring Bonus: $2000 for new officers without prior experience and $3000 for Lateral Officers. 
Competitive Pay:
We offer increased rank pay and paid overtime. Pay dependent on experience between $58323.20 and $70324.80.
Paid Insurance Premiums: The City of Rawlins pays all employee insurance premiums, a savings of $320 a month, and $3840 a year for a family. 
Pension: You are eligible for a 20-year retirement at 50% of your top five earning years, 62.5% at 25 years, and 75% after 30 years.

Take-Home Cars: The Rawlins Police Department has a take-home car program where each officer is assigned a take-home patrol car. Take-home cars add to the visibility of protection in the neighborhoods where the officer lives.

Nature of Work: 
Provides law enforcement and public safety services to the community, to include enforcement of criminal statutes and ordinances, making arrests as required, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, patrol activity, accident investigation, resolution of domestic and other disturbances, prosecution support, and non-criminal public safety services. JOB SUMMARY
The Police Cadet is considered a long-term, but temporary position with the police department. The purpose of this position is to provide experience and preparation to young men and women interested in a career as a police officer, yet before they reach the required age to enter a police academy, typically right out of high school. They will perform a variety of tasks in support of law enforcement activities within the Page Police Department. This position is supervised by a Captain or Lieutenant but takes direction from Sergeants, Detectives, Officers, and/or Crime Scene Specialists in the field. This is a non-sworn, unarmed position within the Police Department. This position will be actively involved in supporting multiple divisions within the department. As such, the Police Cadet will be expected to work different shifts, and be subject to callouts, during all hours. The Police Cadet is distinguished from a Police Officer since the employee is not a sworn officer, does not carry a firearm, does not respond to in-progress incidents, and does not have any arrest authority.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Investigates City Code violations. • Conducts follow-up phone calls, emails, and in-person contacts with members of the public, law enforcement, and various investigative partners. • Collects data or information from various sources (i.e., computerized crime and traffic databases, etc.). • Contacts other law enforcement agencies, investigative leads, probation officers, etc. for additional information, and utilizing automated systems to research criminal history and conduct background checks. • Conducts interviews with victims, witnesses, parents/caregivers, and suspects at the request of a detective or supervisor. • Completes reports and other required paperwork, including evidence sheets, vehicle impounds, etc. • Administers the Intoxilyzer to DUI suspects (upon certification). • Creates investigative support material, such as photographic line-ups, crime bulletins, flyers, etc. • Drives unmarked police vehicles at the discretion of the Chief of Police for investigative (including traffic control) or administrative purposes. • Reviews various reports on impounded evidence for the purpose of property purges, crime analysis, pending lab results, etc. • Assists investigators with various responsibilities in the Records Management System (RMS) to include updating case management and case management queries. • Collects property or evidence by following property and evidence procedures. • Assists officers in completing paperwork as part of the jail booking process. • Creates, updates, or maintains spreadsheets, timelines, or other digital records of large scale or high-profile investigations. • Attends court hearings for the purpose of testifying to job duties, reports, etc. • Attends training in multiple areas related to their job duties. • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve department operations, decrease investigative turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. • Other duties as assigned.

Summary: This is investigations work at the part-time performance level for the County's District Attorney's Office. A position in this class conducts and assists with investigations for use in prosecuting criminal cases related primarily to elder abuse. Must successfully pass a physical agility test within the last 6 months prior to application as administered by a certified FDLE training center. &nbsp;Applicants must have successfully completed a swim test administered by a certified FDLE training center.&nbsp; Passing scores must be submitted at time of application.
