Your Mission
As an Optician you will Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for clients according to written optical prescriptions or specifications. Assist clients with selecting frames. Measure customers for the size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions. Prepare a work order for the optical laboratory containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses in frames. Verify the exactness of finished lens spectacles. Adjust the frame and lens position to fit the client. May shape or reshape frames.

<li>Check that the finished eyewear meets AVP’s optical standards, as well as customer requirements and requests</li>

<li>Perform adjustments and minor eyeglass repair</li>
<li>Work with the practice team to make sure all customers receive exceptional service</li>
<li>Work with sales representatives on maintaining suitable inventory to meet customer needs</li>
<li>Arrange and maintain display of optical merchandise</li>
<li>Keep current with trends, brands, eyewear, and lens technology</li>

Pay: $16-17/hour and up with commissions
Hours: Full Time Monday-Friday 9am-6pm

An Optician is trained to dispense and fit glasses and contacts, working from the prescriptions written by optometrists. They take into account patient's facial features, occupation, and habits to assist them in choosing the best eyeglass frames, lenses, and lens coatings to fit their needs, while also achieving monthly sales goals and excellent patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Provide exceptional customer service at all times to both external and internal patients</li>
<li>Able to operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer</li>
<li>Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions</li>
<li>Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frame to suit patient needs</li>
<li>Continue to be educated on current brand knowledge</li>
<li>Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length and seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt </li>
<li>Check in all incoming orders to ensure quality and accuracy</li>
<li>Dispense patient orders and repair and adjust patient frames</li>
<li>Ability to identify and resolve patient complaints through trouble shooting</li>
<li>Assist other areas when needed </li>
<li>General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager</li>
</ul>

Education and/or Experience

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
