The News &amp; Content unit of the University of Virginia’s <a href="https://communications.virginia.edu/" target="_blank">Office of Communications</a> seeks a Senior Editor to help us tell the dynamic story of UVA and to advance its strategic priorities through content that engages with and grows a multitude of audiences.
This position would be ideal for a seasoned, mature editor at a daily newspaper, magazine or online publication with significant deadline experience and a track record of working with writers to generate compelling stories and improve copy.
The Senior Editor, reporting to the UVA Today Managing Editor, will oversee several direct reports; edit copy for grammar, accuracy, and adherence to Associated Press and local style; and research and write stories as needed. The ideal candidate will be a sharp-eyed, detail-focused journalist who efficiently shepherds daily stories through the editing process while also taking the time to help writers improve their craft. He or she will be attuned to news and current events and be able to quickly identify opportunities to showcase UVA’s students, faculty and staff in the context of the day’s key stories and issues.

Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance at Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) has oversight of the financial, risk management and information technology operations of the organization. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Finance is delegated a high degree of responsibility to recommend and implement fiscal policies and procedures in partnership with university colleagues to ensure that ASI operates appropriately within the financial policies of the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees and the University, while sustaining sound business practices, and strengthening the financial health of ASI.
The Director of Finance will sit as a non-voting member and serve as an advisor to the ASI Student Board of Directors, which doubles as the Sacramento State Student Government. &nbsp;&nbsp;

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Accounting

<li>Oversees the supervision and management of all aspects of the functional areas of the Accounting Services department, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashiering, fixed asset management, internal controls, policy development and implementation, legal, and audit compliance as well as maintenance of the general ledger.</li>
<li>Provides insight and education regarding ASI and CSU Sacramento budget and financial operations to the ASI Student Board of Directors, full-time staff, student-staff, campus partners and the student community at a level of their understanding.</li>
<li>Oversees the preparation of the annual financial statements and 990 for ASI and the Union WELL.</li>
<li>Facilitates implementation of quality standards and priority criteria for service processes.</li>
<li>Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction through assessment, staff training, and resource development. Ensures compliance with state and federal tax laws and reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with all internal controls and identifies potential improvements to increase efficiency of operations and security of company assets.</li>

Fiscal Services

<li>Serves as an advisor to the ASI Student Board of Directors. <li>Organizes, directs and supervises the preparation of ASl's annual budget in accordance with the guidelines provided by the ASI Finance and Budget Committee.</li>

Minimum Qualifications

Home to many of the metro area’s most diverse neighborhoods, Jefferson is the state’s most populous parish and a regional economic engine imbued with many of the same problems — and promise — as the Crescent City itself. We’re looking for a reporter eager to tell important stories in an area that is rich with colorful politics, home to major economic development projects and threatened by storms and rising seas.
Applicants should have experience covering a beat, as well as a track record of breaking news and developing complex enterprise. They should be skilled online and adept at juggling deadline stories with longer-term projects.

The nonprofit Salt Lake Tribune is looking for a reporter to serve a growing number of people in stunning southwestern Utah, which is home to two of the country’s most popular national parks, significant development and an ecologically diverse and vulnerable landscape.
You will have the opportunity to help Utahns understand how the area is navigating a period of significant change. You will cover the actions cities and towns are taking that impact their residents, the rising cost of living, transportation and local environmental concerns. We want to lead out on Zion and Bryce, as well as state parks and other recreation areas in the area.
You will focus on the issues but also solutions, for as a nonprofit newsroom we seek to create stronger communities through our reporting. Your coverage area will include Washington and Iron counties, and you will be paired with an experienced Tribune reporter who is already living in the region.
The successful reporter will keenly understand the potential to reach distinct audiences, and will know how to listen in spaces that will contribute to the surfacing of a multitude of perspectives. You will collaborate with our audience and video teams to publish journalism across platforms, reaching Utahns wherever they are. You will be capable of building trust and sourcing, and will understand when a story should be a quick turn and what deserves more attention. Both dailies and enterprise will be part of this reporter’s beat.

Experience:The ideal candidate will be curious, consistently pitching story ideas, and will have at least three to five years of experience. You should be able to navigate open records requests and analyze data. You should be comfortable scouring places like Reddit and Instagram, and also eager to meet people where they are in communities across the region. You will be at ease in a collaborative setting, because the stories you find on this beat may sometimes overlap with others. That means being open to co-bylining stories with other reporters and working with visual journalists and digital team members.
