The News &amp; Content unit of the University of Virginia’s <a href="https://communications.virginia.edu/" target="_blank">Office of Communications</a> seeks a Senior Editor to help us tell the dynamic story of UVA and to advance its strategic priorities through content that engages with and grows a multitude of audiences.
This position would be ideal for a seasoned, mature editor at a daily newspaper, magazine or online publication with significant deadline experience and a track record of working with writers to generate compelling stories and improve copy.
The Senior Editor, reporting to the UVA Today Managing Editor, will oversee several direct reports; edit copy for grammar, accuracy, and adherence to Associated Press and local style; and research and write stories as needed. The ideal candidate will be a sharp-eyed, detail-focused journalist who efficiently shepherds daily stories through the editing process while also taking the time to help writers improve their craft. He or she will be attuned to news and current events and be able to quickly identify opportunities to showcase UVA’s students, faculty and staff in the context of the day’s key stories and issues.
Our Content &amp; News team operates a high-quality newsroom that values timeliness and urgency in its content, and collaborates to produce one of higher education’s most successful news products, and the most important strategic communications platform at the University. Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance at Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) has oversight of the financial, risk management and information technology operations of the organization. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Finance is delegated a high degree of responsibility to recommend and implement fiscal policies and procedures in partnership with university colleagues to ensure that ASI operates appropriately within the financial policies of the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees and the University, while sustaining sound business practices, and strengthening the financial health of ASI.
The Director of Finance will sit as a non-voting member and serve as an advisor to the ASI Student Board of Directors, which doubles as the Sacramento State Student Government. &nbsp;&nbsp;
The ASI Director of Finance serves as ASI administrator in charge in the absence of the Executive Director.&nbsp;
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Accounting 
<ul>
<li>Oversees the supervision and management of all aspects of the functional areas of the Accounting Services department, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashiering, fixed asset management, internal controls, policy development and implementation, legal, and audit compliance as well as maintenance of the general ledger.</li>
<li>Provides insight and education regarding ASI and CSU Sacramento budget and financial operations to the ASI Student Board of Directors, full-time staff, student-staff, campus partners and the student community at a level of their understanding.</li>
<li>Oversees the preparation of the annual financial statements and 990 for ASI and the Union WELL.</li>
<li>Facilitates implementation of quality standards and priority criteria for service processes.</li>
<li>Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction through assessment, staff training, and resource development. Ensures compliance with state and federal tax laws and reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with all internal controls and identifies potential improvements to increase efficiency of operations and security of company assets.</li>
<li>Evaluates changes in policies, laws, and available resources for impacts and adjustments to related policies, procedures, and staff responsibilities.</li>
<li>Coordinates plans for testing, training, and implementing new and upgraded financial systems.</li>

Fiscal Services

<li>Serves as an advisor to the ASI Student Board of Directors. <li>Organizes, directs and supervises the preparation of ASl's annual budget in accordance with the guidelines provided by the ASI Finance and Budget Committee.</li>

The Opportunity
Chicago Public Media, home to WBEZ and the Chicago Sun-Times, is looking for a versatile, experienced reporter to cover the Illinois Legislature. They will serve both the local WBEZ and Sun-Times audience, as well as provide daily news and enterprise feature work for the nine NPR member stations across Illinois as part of Illinois Public Radio. 
The reporter will be based in Springfield, working from the Capitol, but will occasionally spend time reporting from Chicago and collaborating with other reporters. We're looking for a curious, aggressive and skillful writer who is equally adept at both quick turn breaking news articles and spots, and developing in-depth features.
This team player is responsible for reporting at a pace that serves the daily habits of a loyal and engaged broadcast audience and communicates with members of their CPM team and the stations across Illinois. This reporter will also be expected to provide special coverage to statewide stations, when applicable. 
The ideal candidate is a resourceful journalist who can spot trends and make sharp connections with seemingly straightforward news stories, providing insight that gives our audience the context they need to have a deeper understanding of the news. The Immigration Reporter is an integral part of the News desk and the Race, Class &amp; Communities team, working in collaboration with other reporters covering the immigration beat. The reporter will write and report a mix of daily, feature and enterprise stories examining immigration policy, enforcement and Chicago's diverse immigrant communities. He/she should create a positive rapport with students, staff, and community; always having a child first approach. The person in this position will keep their lesson plans aligned with, and utilize PA resources and pacing guides. He/she should be professional at all times. He/she should be proficient in administering required growth measurements and assessments. An effective substitute teacher is willing to collaborate with building staff and peers.&nbsp; Duties and Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include: &nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Always supervise students, never leave a child unattended. Do not allow students to run errands, use the restroom, go to the office, leave for intervention, counseling or speech services, unattended or unsupervised by an adult.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain high levels of classroom management at all times, including during transitions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Take attendance daily.</li>
<li>Deliver high quality instruction at all times.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Turn in lesson plans on school template weekly to building Administration.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Use assigned Performance Academies curriculum and pacing guides.</li>
<li>Complete and submit grade cards and interim reports.</li>
<li>Drop off and pick up students for fitness or other activities in a timely manner.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Keep your classroom free of chaos; maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety.</li>
<li>Maintain appropriate and accurate inventory at all times.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Send home agendas daily with students. Agendas must be signed every night by parents/guardians and returned to school the next day.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assign daily homework to all students Monday through Thursday.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assist with bus, recess, and lunch duty, as required by Administration.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assign specific times for student bathroom breaks. Students should not be sent to the bathroom unaccompanied by an adult.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assign and monitor daily test prep materials for state mandated testing, including Coach, Study Island, Aleks, Problem of the Day, etc. and administer the NWEA MAP test as required.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Encourage good hand washing behavior of students. Ensure that students wear adequate foot coverings at all times.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Enforce and require that the floor is clutter free at all times. Student backpacks, coats, hats, lunchboxes and other belongings are stowed away on hooks, in cubbies, on shelves, etc.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Send a child to the office immediately if he/she has obvious communicable disease, such as: ringworm, rash, fever, vomiting or diarrhea.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Conduct home visits with each parent prior to the start of school, and turn in home visit logs to building Administration as required.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Refrain from driving students in your personal vehicle at all times.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ensure that all appropriate field trip forms are signed, dated, and turned into the office with appropriate written consent from parents for every child attending a field trip.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Any and all contacts from news media, ie, newspaper, television, radio, etc. must be immediately referred to the building Principal and Superintendent; never conduct an interview on your own.&nbsp;</li>
<li>As a mandatory reporter, immediately report all cases of suspected child abuse or neglect to building Administration prior to calling Children Services.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality of student records at all times. Keep all student records locked.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Be an active participant in all IAT or IEP meetings for any students in your classroom who are being evaluated for student services. Come fully prepared for those meetings with all required documentation; including samples of student work, curriculum based measures, behavioral documentation, etc.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain positive interactions with parents, students, and staff at all times.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Facilitate Parent/Substitute Teacher conferences according to the school calendar. Utilize student data&nbsp;folders.</li>
<li>Choose only educationally related field trips, movies/clips for students that align to the state standards in your specific grade.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Do not give out personally identifying information to students or parents, ie, phone number, address, social media contacts, etc.</li>
<li>Implement all Marzano, Marva Collins, PBIS, and other instructional methods as required by the school.</li>
<li>Maintain all keys, computers, equipment, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Send home a detailed incident report for any student who falls, hurts themselves, is injured in any way, within 24 hours of the incident. Refrain from including other student’s names in this report.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain an interesting, inviting classroom; provide interesting, stimulating instruction that is well thought out and planned.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Consistently implement the positive behavior management plan in your classroom.</li>
<li>Proof-read all written communications to parents, students, staff, and in the school newsletter ensuring it is grammatically correct and free of spelling or punctuation errors.</li>
<li>Make your own copies, handouts, etc. Do not rely on the office manager or students to perform those functions. Be prepared with what you need each day, before materials are needed.</li>
<li>Manage your classroom; do not give your power away by sending students to the office for minor disruptions.</li>
<li>Read and follow all Performance Academies policies outlined in staff handbook and student handbook/code of conduct.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Require and enforce that students follow the school dress code.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, building Administration, or Management Team.&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
 Qualifications &nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred. GED or High School Diploma required.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintain current licensure, certification, BCI/FBI background check, as required by the State of&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Ohio.
<ul>
<li>Use all appropriate and required forms for the business office and the HR department as required, ie, application forms, applications for insurance, requests for reimbursement, etc.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Proficient in computer applications, including, but not limited to Google Docs, MS Office Suite, e-mail, and internet applications.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics&nbsp; &nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Be mindful of students with disabilities; properly implement goals and objectives for all students with active IEP’s, BIP’s or 504 Plans.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience in curriculum, instruction, and assessment; using Ohio Revised Academic Content Standards.</li>
<li>Follow the student Code of Conduct at all times as it relates to discipline.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Desirable experience and credentials:
<ul>
<li>Previous Community or Charter school teaching or leadership.</li>
<li>Training in literacy or mathematics – Reading or Math Specialist Endorsement.</li>
</ul>

 Working Conditions
<ul>
<li>Report to the classroom no later than 7:30am.</li>
<li>Stay at school until the last child in your classroom leaves.</li>
<li>Follow the required school dress code for building staff.</li>
<li>Attend all required staff meetings, TBT meetings, in-services and professional development days.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer technology related components.</li>
</ul>
 Physical Requirements
<ul>
<li>Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Standing for extended periods of time.</li>
