<li>With provider supervision, work in provider desktop, review and assist in Health Matrix and other population health management functions.</li>
<li>Coordinates and manages provider's desktop activity (i.e., lab result reporting, phone calls, order entry, RX processing, and outreach efforts) following standard processes and protocols in oversight of meeting provider and patient needs.</li>
<li>Triages as directed by protocols.</li>
<li>Performs direct patient care services in accordance with clinical protocols in a patient-centered manner.</li>
<li>Ensure provider schedule meets the needs of patients (visit and non-visit).</li>
<li>Participates in daily huddles and regular team meetings to improve workflows and contribute to improving patient population outcomes.</li>
<li>Performs and documents necessary ancillary tests such as EKGs, PFTs, Peak Flow Rates, Rapid Strep, HCG's, Glucose Checks, INR's, and H. Pylori Testing. May perform various waive lab tests as ordered by provider. Performs and documents lab specimen collection/processing, eye screening and audiology screening in accordance with current protocols and policies.</li>
<li>Depending on level of licensure, may administer immunizations, allergy shots and medications in accordance with current protocols ensuring level and scope of practice standards.</li>
<li>Ensure exam rooms are prepared for patient visits, including equipment operability, supply inventory, and cleanliness utilizing standard stocking procedures.</li>
<li>Ensure patient care equipment operates in accordance with quality standards.</li>
<li>Provides patient education in support of patient visit and ongoing care.</li>
<li>Assist with orientation and training of new staff members.</li>
<li>Maintain clinical/technical skills and knowledge through ongoing development and continuing education.</li>

 Education/Experience: 
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>For Clinical Support I : Must hold a current MA certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCTand retain active certification for duration of employment. Completion of a two year accredited Medical Assistant Program/Associate Degree is preferred. </li>
<li>For Clinical Support II : Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program and an active, unrestricted LPN license required. </li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required</li>
<li>Related experience in a physician's office, medical setting or outpatient clinic required.</li>

 Scope of Practice for Clinical Support I (aligned with Medical Assistant) MAs work under the license of their supervising physician. MA's may report to Clinical Leadership staff for tasks that do not require clinical judgment. Tasks requiring clinical judgment and health counseling must be overseen by the physician they are supporting. 
<ul>
<li>MA's may assist Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners with patient preparation and treatment, patient chart organization, dissemination of reports; referrals, telephone calls, inventory, ordering and general organization.</li>
<li>MA's may be required to have an authorization by the state to perform needle injections and venipunctures. MA's may be required to demonstrate knowledge and demonstrate competence in vaccine/medication administration prior to and/or ongoing in their regular assignment of duties.</li>
<li>Some states require that the medical assistants who draw blood for lab tests are certified and have passed a practical exam as part of phlebotomy training. </li>
<li>Duties vary according to state law and include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting during diagnostic examinations.</li>
<li>Medical assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments.</li>
<li>MA's may instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed, prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills according to protocols as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for X-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures, and change dressings.</li>

The Chief of Endocrinology will have discretion in&nbsp;the recruitment and retention of division faculty who will have a direct reporting line. Qualified&nbsp;candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) or equivalent degree&nbsp;from an accredited institution and be eligible for a University of Arizona academic appointment at&nbsp;the Associate or Full Professor rank. The Chief of Endocrinology will also play a prominent role in&nbsp;the establishment of a Diabetes Research Center with the support of an ongoing University of&nbsp;Arizona (UA) capital campaign and the continued development of an NIH - T32 training program in&nbsp;diabetes, endocrine, and metabolism.
The Endocrinology division is one of twelve within the Department of Medicine, which leads the&nbsp;University of Arizona, College of Medicine-Tucson in research funding, and has two residency&nbsp;programs, 15 fellowship programs including endocrinology, and numerous mentorship opportunities in&nbsp;multidisciplinary health science graduate programs. Duties &amp; Responsibilities:

<li>Provide leadership and management of day-to-day operations of the Division of Endocrinology.</li>
<li>Responsible for recruitment, management, compensation, and retention of faculty in consideration of&nbsp;UA, UHSC, College, and B—UMG strategic plans and initiatives in balance of the multiple, tripartite&nbsp;mission of the University.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Academic Affairs and other educational offices at the College to ensure the&nbsp;division and their faculty are advancing the mission of the medical student, graduate student, and&nbsp;graduate medical education teaching programs.</li>
<li>Responsible for maintaining liaison with other clinical and/or basic science departments to foster&nbsp;an integrated teaching environment for the College.</li>
<li>Has the responsibility to support and expand research activities within the division, and across&nbsp;the Department, College and UAHS, working with key partners.</li>
<li>Provide leadership oversight and effective management of an active program of independent,&nbsp;extramurally funded basic, translational or clinical research in area of research&nbsp;expertise/specialization.</li>
