This position would be ideal for a seasoned, mature editor at a daily newspaper, magazine or online publication with significant deadline experience and a track record of working with writers to generate compelling stories and improve copy.
The Senior Editor, reporting to the UVA Today Managing Editor, will oversee several direct reports; edit copy for grammar, accuracy, and adherence to Associated Press and local style; and research and write stories as needed. The ideal candidate will be a sharp-eyed, detail-focused journalist who efficiently shepherds daily stories through the editing process while also taking the time to help writers improve their craft. Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY
The Event Planner supports the planning and execution of internal and external events across the foundation, ensuring they reflect the organization’s values of equity, inclusion, and community. This role provides project management and logistics support for events of all sizes, from staff retreats to public convenings. The Event Planner independently leads on-site execution, managing relationships and communication with venues, vendors, attendees, and internal teams to ensure seamless, accessible, and mission-aligned experiences. 
The Event Planner plays a key role in supporting cross-functional collaboration on large-scale events while independently leading the planning and execution of smaller gatherings such as board meetings and team retreats. Serving as a foundation-wide resource, this role provides expert consultation on venue and vendor selection, contract negotiation, travel coordination, budgeting, and event systems, ensuring events are well-organized, inclusive, and ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s 50-Year Vision, which centers racial justice, equity, and building power across Washington State.

Manage Equitable Vendor and Venue Relationships

Travel Coordination

Salary ranges are set according to an explicit compensation policy, and relevant data are reviewed when setting ranges for each position. The salary range for this position is $82,000 to $110,000. A compensation enhancement is provided to employees with indigenous or advanced language proficiency in more than one language that they utilize to advance the Foundation’s work across Washington.

Job SummaryAs the&nbsp;Senior Event Planner,&nbsp;you’ll lead the catering operations at The World Bank, managing a high volume of daily hospitality requests and overseeing the performance of the Event Planner. Your role is both strategic and hands-on—ensuring timely service delivery, overseeing inbox communications, and maintaining exceptional client satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:

Primary Objective/Responsibilities: 
As a Special Events Planner ("SEP") at Puff 'n Stuff Catering, your guiding light is exceeding client expectations through meticulously planned and executed events. Using your passion for hospitality, sales acumen, and event planning expertise, you actively participate in business relationship development, attending individual client events, conducting site visits, and ensuring flawless event execution. Your dedication and commitment help us maintain our status as one of Florida's premier off-site caterer. 
In your role as SEP, your primary responsibility is to consistently achieve individual monthly sales revenue objectives. You will take the lead in systematically developing new business, establishing valuable business relationships with venue operators, and actively following up on all leads. You'll be responsible for preparing creative and tailored proposals, tracking sales opportunities, and ensuring clear communication both internally and externally for an outstanding event experience.

• Ability and willingness to travel within the region and work nights and weekends. 
Preferred qualifications:

Position Summary:
The Seasonal Event Planner plans, coordinates and executes a variety of fundraising and engagement events to support the mission, vision, and core values of Federation. The role manages multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with Federation’s strategic goals and objectives. They lead an interdisciplinary group of Federation team members, vendors, volunteers and other stakeholders, and collaborate with the Director, Event Services to ensure the success of each event. The Seasonal Event Planner will be employed approximately from September to April (subject to change).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Autonomously manages, plans and executes a portfolio of events assigned by the Director, Event Services ensuring each event aligns with organizational goals and priorities. 
· Collaborate with the lead staff person, Marketing team and Events team to create comprehensive strategy for all assigned events, demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making abilities. 
· Prepares and manages event budgets for approval ensuring meticulous budget management and adherence to approved financial plans. 
· Conduct thorough research and provide expert recommendations for event logistics, including, but not limited to, speaker selection, venue, food and beverage, event set-up, décor, entertainment, audio visual, virtual event production requirements and more.
· Perform post-event analysis to measure success, gather feedback and identify areas for improvement. 
· Lead vendor contract negotiations in partnership with the Director, Event Services, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with contractual obligations. 
· Oversees vendor performance, ensuring high standards and alignment with event objectives, and address any discrepancies or issues promptly and professionally. 
· Coordinates air travel, ground transportation, hotel arrangements, meals and onsite requirements for speakers, ensuring a seamless and professional experience. 
· Works with Event Project Manager to manage event marketing timeline, ensuring timely delivery of promotional materials and communication. 
· Continually lead meetings with lead staff, support department staff and vendors to ensure successful execution of event plans. 
· Maintains accurate and organized electronic files and communications for assigned events, ensuring easy access to information and efficient project management. 
· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including sponsors, partners, lay leaders and attendees to ensure their needs and expectations are met. 
· Promotes the mission of Federation through superior customer service, representing the organization with professionalism and dedication. 
· Attends all events serving as a key representative of Federation, ensuring that events run smoothly and successfully. 
Additional Responsibilities
· Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director, Event Services, demonstrating leadership, initiative and flexibility to additional responsibilities. 
Qualifications and Success Factors:
· Associates degree required (bachelor’s degree preferred) preferably in one of the following areas: Event Planning, Fundraising, Non-profit Management, Business Administration, Hotel Management or similar.
· Three (3) or more years’ experience with fundraising events and event management or equivalent combination of relevant education, experience and skills required.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
· Strong knowledge of basic office computing, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Zoom and basic database skills required.
· Strong organizational skills required.
· Experience working with volunteers and committees.
· Experience working with donor relation systems preferred.
· Experience managing budgets required.
· Knowledge of effective utilization of audio-visual equipment preferred.
· Ability to solve problems and multi-task with numerous deadlines.
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
· Creativity and innovative thinking required.
· Must be able to pass a Level 1 background check.
· Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 lbs. and be able to set up event displays.
· Must maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
· Must be able to work off-shift hours including nights and weekends, as needed.
