POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision responsible for purchasing materials, parts, components and software in America based on requests from MELCO and its affiliated companies. Export those products to outside countries (mostly to Japan). Provide various product and/or supplier information for MELCO and affiliates.

<li>Generate MEUS PO and release it to the vendors upon receipt of MELCO (O/R).</li>

<li>Classify any deliverables and/or technical data called out in MEUS PO in accordance with the procedure as in the MEUS Export Compliance Program (ECP) prior to the export.</li>
<li>For any deliverables and/or technical data, which requires proper export licenses for any export, under direct supervision prepare export license application to DOS or DOC in collaboration with Legal Dept and MEUS Export Control Administrator (ECA). This effort includes, but not limited to: collecting necessary information from the customers, and coordinating the application with Legal dept. and MEUS ECA after MEUS PO is issued to its vendors and prior to any export.</li>
<li>When on hand notice of deliverables and/or technical data shipped from vendors is received by the MEUS’s designated freight forwarder, work with the freight forwarder to prepare the shipment of the products to the delivery point outside of the US to the location designated by the customers. After all the export compliance requirements as specified in MEUS ECP are met, generate MEUS invoice, have it reviewed and approved, then send it to the freight forwarder, thereby providing the forwarder with the authorization to export the deliverables and/or technical data under MEUS’ power of attorney.</li>
<li>Negotiate with vendors together with MELCO in order to resolve warranty claims after delivery.</li>
<li>Conclude purchasing agreement (terms and conditions) with vendors in co-operation with MELCO and legal dept.</li>
<li>Survey and source new vendors and new products in the Americas and introduce them to MELCO.</li>
<li>Obtain annual procurement forecast from the assigned customers and create an annual sales budget twice a year (June and December) for the assigned products. Attain the projected annual sales figure committed in his/her annual plan.</li>

You will assist our experienced buyers with daily purchasing tasks and gradually take on independent buying responsibilities. One of our current buyers will be moving into a new position, and over time you will step into parts of their workload. Our goal is to develop you into a full Buyer capable of making independent procurement decisions.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Support buyers in product sourcing, vendor communication, and purchase order preparation.</li>
<li>Learn to build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure product quality and competitive pricing.</li>
<li>Assist with market research, price comparisons, and contract negotiations.</li>
<li>Work closely with sales and buying staff to align purchasing strategies with customer demand and company goals.</li>
<li>Monitor inventory levels and assist in coordinating product flow to prevent shortages or overstocks.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate purchasing and pricing records to support decision-making and reporting.</li>
</ul>
What We’re Looking For
<ul>
<li>Any formal education is preferred, whether a certificate, associate, bachelor’s degree, or related coursework, with business, supply chain management, or similar fields especially helpful but not required.</li>
<li>Relevant work experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field is a plus.</li>
<li>Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and curiosity to learn.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.</li>
<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with inventory or ERP systems is helpful.</li>
<li>Previous business or office experience is helpful, but we value initiative, and a willingness to learn above specific credentials.</li>
</ul>

This position is designed to develop into a full Buyer role. With mentorship and experience, you’ll gain the knowledge to make independent decisions on pricing, negotiation, and vendor management.
