Collaborate with a team of MD's, ARNP's and other Nutritionists as part of a healthcare team to help clients achieve their metabolic health and weight management goals with an emphasis on a whole-foods-based diet, behavior change Psychology and guided physical activity.
Hours: Open to Part-time or Full-time 24 - 40 hours a week. Expectation of teaching one evening class per week, usually concluding at 6:30pm. 
Hybrid: One work from home day per week will be available after the first 3 months of orientation.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Medical Team to help patients achieve their metabolic health and weight management goals 
* Emphasize higher protein, controlled carbohydrate whole-foods based diet with lifestyle interventions to promote weight loss 
* Aid in establishing realistic goals and client expectations 
* Support physical activity, stress management, and sleep goals as part of holistic approach 
* Perform medical nutrition therapy (nutrition assessment, evaluation, and counseling) based on individual client needs and concerns 
* Promote client empowerment and accountability 
* Maintain regular follow up with clients through a combination of face-to-face interactions, telephone calls, social media engagement and online (MyChart) follow up 
* Provide meal planning as necessary; sound knowledge of cooking preferred 
* Teach weekly group nutrition classes and moderate monthly support group for patients 
* Coach participants through behavior modification to aid in long-term change, including assessment of readiness for change and motivational interviewing 
* Maintain program website and social media website for patient resources and inspiration

Required Qualifications:

Provide nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks that follow approved menus to meet 2/3 of the childs daily nutritional needs. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and meet Missouri State sanitation guidelines in the kitchen and dining areas. Support other center staff in a positive mealtime experience, encouraging good eating habits and nutritious food experiences. Maintain a clean and sanitary environment for children, families, and staff. Engage in deep cleaning as necessary to maintain the facility.
 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Establishes a safe and healthy environment for meal preparation ensuring all Child and Adult Care Food Program, Missouri State sanitation and licensing regulations are followed.</li>
<li>Manages self and staff/volunteers/other adults assigned to the kitchen in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks following menus approved by the registered dietician.</li>
<li>Plans, purchases, prepares and serves all food items; maintains a clean, safe and healthy environment</li>
<li>Ensure accurate completion of mandatory documents including production records, sanitation, cleaning logs, supply requests, and expenditure logs/substitutions.</li>
<li>Builds positive relationships with families that encourages engagement in their childs learning, and ensures nutrition and self-care practices are incorporated into classroom routines.</li>
<li>Performs general maintenance and ensures cleanliness in and around the building. </li>
<li>Routine maintenance of center vehicles and inspects playground to ensure they are free of any safety hazards. </li>
<li>Conducts custodial duties during summer hours</li>
<li>Maintains on-going communication with staff, supervisors, parents, and providers.</li>
<li>Maintains confidentiality in all matters relating to children, families, supervisors, and staff. </li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.</li>
</ul>
 
NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Assists in recruiting parent and community volunteers for the Head Start program.</li>
<li>Assists with general operations of the center with regards to organization of work areas, answering phones, general cleanliness, etc.</li>
<li>References, knows and understands the Douglass Community Services personnel policies and procedures.</li>
</ul>
 
EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
A high school diploma or GED equivalency is preferred, as well as one year of experience in food preparation. Knowledge of nutrition and proper sanitation procedures is required. The ability to plan and organize work, adhere to USDA and Health Department regulations and Head Start performance standards, follow directions, handle basic math, and maintain confidentiality is essential. Serve Safe Certification is required within 3 months of hire. Strongly encouraged to enroll in a child development associate credential program. This position also requires the skills to complete word processing and data entry on a computer. The ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), take initiative, be flexible, display patience and understanding and maintain confidentiality is required to successfully fulfill this positions responsibilities. Training in CPR and First Aid and a valid drivers license are additional requirements. Additionally, the ability to take initiative, make independent judgments, and promote teamwork is required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Our programs serve infants, toddlers and preschoolers with varying degrees of physical abilities.
