The purpose of this classification is to be efficient in fire prevention, fire suppression, public fire education, fire investigation, and supervisory skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. Other duties may be required and assigned. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Performs daily activities of the Fire Prevention Division; schedules and coordinates inspections; adjusts schedule, staffing, and/or requests overtime to ensure adequate manpower at all times; disseminates information and special orders; investigates complaints against subordinates. Establishes goals for employees; instructs and directs subordinates on proper procedures and protocol of the department; conducts training and drills to assess individual and/or company preparedness; reviews and inspects station/company for compliance to guidelines and departmental regulations. Plans, organizes and directs an inspections program designed to discover, abate or prevent existing or potential fire hazards in buildings and installations throughout the County. Completes the review of plan sets for all new buildings and renovations, as defined by GA Codes, in coordination with Building Official. Completes the review of civil engineering plans for new neighborhoods, commercial buildings, and water system changes in coordination with County Engineering staff. Assist with the investigation of all fires under the supervision of Deputy Chief of Prevention. This may include physical investigation, evidence recovery, photography, questioning of witnesses and suspects, and preparation of cases for prosecution. Coordinates with the Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division and District Attorney. Attends shift meetings, training sessions and seminars as required to remain knowledgeable of county/departmental operations, to promote improved job performance, and to stay current with changing policies, procedures, codes, and reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations. May direct and provide emergency medical care as an EMR, EMT or Paramedic; provides medical and/or first aid support during incident response. Establishes and maintains good working relations with the public; attends community meetings; promotes and teaches fire safety and injury prevention; responds to questions, complaints, and requests for information. Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems. Reviews documents processed by subordinates to ensure accuracy; discusses errors and recommends method for corrective action; provides technical assistance as needed. Completes, prepares, and/or approves a variety of forms, logs, requests, records, reports, correspondence, and other documents associated with daily responsibilities of this position; reviews, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares and maintains files and administrative records. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws, regulations, and codes. Must have Eight (8) years of experience with Houston County Fire Department as a Certified Firefighter with at least Two (2) of those years as Lieutenant or Eight (8) years with similar or larger Fire Department with at least Four (4) of those years as Lieutenant or equivalent. Must have a current / compliant GFSTC Firefighter and Inspector Certification. Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License of Class F or higher. Must have Pro Board (NPQ) or IFSAC certifications of Firefighter 2, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Instructor 1, Fire Inspector 1 and Fire Officer 1. Must complete NPQ Fire Officer 2, NPQ Fire Investigator, and Basic Law Enforcement (Mandate) through GA POST within Twenty Four (24) Months of hire. ZOLL, manufacturer of the LifeVest wearable defibrillator, is seeking a Patient Service Representative&nbsp;as an independent contract worker&nbsp;to train patients on the use of the LifeVest.
The LifeVest wearable defibrillator is worn by patients at risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), providing protection during their changing condition.&nbsp; It is lightweight and easy to wear, allowing patients to return to their common activities of daily living, while having the peace of mind that they are protected from SCA. &nbsp;
This is the perfect opportunity for the health professional with patient care and teaching experience to supplement his or her income. A typical LifeVest patient is in the hospital awaiting discharge, and the PSR sets up the equipment and trains the patient and caregivers on the LifeVest. They also follow up with patients as needed to assure patient understanding and satisfaction. PSRs retain the flexibility to accept or decline assignments as their schedules dictate. Most assignments can be scheduled during free time – before/after work, and on days off.
