Assigns and sequences all codes following coding guidelines published by the American Hospital Association and American Medical Association to assure appropriate DRG assignment. Performs data entry utilizing multi-grouper encoding systems as applicable. Adheres to the American Health Information Management Association code of ethics. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Revenue. 
Requirements: 
A. Education/Experience
<ul>
<li>High School Diploma/GED Required</li>
<li>Book Coding experience required </li>
<li>Minimum of 3-5 years coding experience required</li>
</ul>
B. Licensure/Certification
<ul>
<li>Must possess one or more of the following certifications: CCS, CPC, CPC-H, RHIA, RHIT</li>
</ul>
C. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of coding software</li>
<li>Knowledge of major disease process, pharmacology, and concepts of disease.</li>
<li>Knowledge of classification systems, IDC-9-CM/ICD-10-CM nomenclature, and CPT-4 coding guidelines.</li>
<li>Skill in understanding medical/surgical coding procedures and protocols.</li>
<li>Skill in interpreting and applying ethical coding standards .</li>
<li>Good communication skills.</li>
