Job DescriptionSalary: 
A3 Technology, Inc. is seeking a senior level Computer Scientist to join our Airport Surveillance Radar (ASR-9) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The ASR-9 is a radar system used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to monitor air traffic and weather conditions in the United States.The ASR-9 is a primary surveillance radar that provides air traffic controllers with information on aircraft position and weather. This position provides expertise in software requirement analysis, design, design reviews development, software testing, integration, installation and maintenance of complex computer systems.
 
Essential Job Functions:
<ul>
<li>Research, evaluate and test new hardware technology that will be used to replace current obsolete components in the NAS equipment.</li>
<li>Capture project requirements, design and develop document changes in hardware and software required for future modifications.</li>
<li>Perform key site testing operations and responsible for preparing the modification kits that will be shipped and installed in the field.</li>
<li>Responsible for providing 2nd level engineering support for ASR-9 modifications installed in the field.</li>
<li>Experience with programming in the languages used for NAS and NAS support systems is required. This includes languages such as but not limited to:
<ul>
<li>C</li>
<li>C++</li>
<li>Visual Basic</li>
<li>VBScript</li>
<li>SQL</li>
<li>HTML</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Knowledge of the NAS system hardware and software, knowledge of FAA procedural requirements, real-time design and development, testing and interface of software and computer hardware systems, regression impact analysis, reliability, maintainability, human factors, standardization and other reengineering regarding FAA missions and NAS systems. </li>
<li>Perform assignments on a broad range of tasks associated with the implementation of standards techniques, procedures and criteria as they apply to technical tasks. </li>
<li>Develop new technology, modifies the structure of existing software product and provides technical guidance to complex projects. </li>
<li>Report issues and problems and recommend solutions. </li>
<li>Perform other related duties in line with tasks assignments. </li>
<li>Experience in project management may be required. </li>
<li>Familiarity with object-oriented programming techniques, client/server development, cross-browser development and Unix/Linux CentOS Operating system. </li>
<li>Review final draft documents for conformity to requirements and completeness. </li>
<li>Track preparation and delivery status of required deliverables. </li>
<li>Attend and may lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings.</li>
<li>Perform system- wide analysis and functional allocations, business process modeling and reengineering, internal operating systems, databases and network architectures. </li>
<li>Using prescribed methods and information furnished, develops draft inputs to program documentation as it relates to any of the support functions.</li>
<li>Work independently and in a team environment.</li>
<li>Full-time position with a standard work schedule. </li>
<li>Occasional travel. </li>

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
<ul>
<li>Expert in programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.</li>
<li>Solid understanding of Linux real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development methodologies. Gapping the language between Linux Operating system software with external hardware IP networks.</li>
<li>Experience with software development tools (e.g., compilers, debuggers, version control systems).</li>
<li>Well versed in some of the following software platforms and devices: Wireshark, GCC Compiler, Cross Compiler Environment, Qt, BSD Sockets, Network Routing, Git, Yocto, Bitbake, Linux Network Device Drivers, Python, Open Embedded, Netlink.</li>
<li>Experience with utilizing a Logic Analyzer to troubleshoot embedded computer systems.</li>
<li>Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet, HDLC, UDP, IP, ARP, etc) used in embedded systems.</li>
<li>Experience in establishing software baselines.</li>
<li>Thorough knowledge of software and hardware development lifecycles. </li>
<li>Skilled in oral and written communication. </li>
</ul>
Preferred:
<ul>
<li>Familiar with Git/GitHub. </li>
<li>Familiar with Linux CentOS.</li>
</ul>
Education:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or a Bachelor's degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science and 20 years related work experience OR</li>
<li>Master's degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science and 16 years related work experience.</li>
<li>PhD or Doctorial in a related field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science and 6 years of related work experience.</li>
</ul>
 
Additionally, US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US is a must. Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, candidates will undergo a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Government clearance. Verification of past employment, education and references is also required. It is imperative that candidates be either a US citizen or a current green card holder with the last 3 consecutive years as a resident of the US.
