DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Advocate for children’s best interests before government or other interested parties</li>
<li>Supervise volunteers appointed as Child Advocate for unaccompanied and separated children in federal custody in or near Los Angeles and across the United States as needed</li>
<li>Serve as Child Advocate to a limited number of cases or as needed </li>
<li>Visit children as needed and communicate with caregivers, family members and stakeholders</li>
<li>Provide internal case consultation and case support involving the state, federal, and international best interests legal principles and immigration law for the Los Angeles office</li>
<li>Support the local and national efforts to recruit, train, support, and retain volunteer Child Advocates </li>
<li>Participate in internal and external working groups </li>
<li>Meet regularly with local stakeholders (government field staff, facility staff, immigration judges, ICE officers, and legal service providers); collaborate on presentations to local stakeholders; attend case staffings or other stakeholder meetings; and speak about the Child Advocate Program at local, regional, and national events</li>
<li>Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders or organizations in the community&nbsp; </li>
<li>Assist the team in meeting case goals and other deliverables for the government contract and private grants </li>

<li>Under the supervision of the Managing Attorney and with input from the Deputy Program Directors (Attorney and Social Worker), draft and submit best interests determinations to immigration judges, asylum officers, attorneys, and federal agencies, applying state, federal, and international law and incorporating social science research and social work best practices, including, but not limited to trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches&nbsp;</li>
<li>Actively engage with colleagues and supervisors in developing and editing interdisciplinary best interests determinations </li>
<li>Accompany children to court hearings and interviews related to their immigration case</li>
<li>Under the supervision of the Deputy Program Director (Social Worker), assess which children may need additional supportive and/or mental health services and accompany them to appointments as needed</li>

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
<ul>
<li>J.D. and license to practice law or ability to acquire license within the first year of employment</li>
<li>Generally, has prior experience working with children and/or youth, trauma survivors, or migrant/refugees/unaccompanied children to demonstrate an understanding of the population we serve. This may be first-hand experience or demonstrated interest in the field (coursework, internships, volunteer opportunities, etc.). </li>
<li>Legal analysis, negotiation, and mediation skills</li>

About the team and position Join Carvana's Legal Department in the role of Counsel, Product. Carvana is looking for a capable and motivated attorney to provide pragmatic and innovative advice, supporting legal and business stakeholders with various projects and assignments involving multiple product teams, solutions groups, and strategic business initiatives. You will work closely with legal, product, and technology partners on various strategic and day-to-day matters involving the development, release, and maintenance of Carvana offerings. You will support the introduction of new solutions and marketplaces, ensure production readiness, help build scalable compliance strategies, take ownership of multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and address the needs involving your assigned product(s) and team(s). As a key supporting member of the Product Counsel team, you will support the provision of legal services to teams within our organization while developing your role, increasing your substantive and practical knowledge, and forging relationships with legal and business partners.

What you'll be doing 
<ul>
<li>Provide quick and innovative support to legal colleagues involving a wide variety of complex questions.</li>
<li>Work closely with product and development team members, including product managers, developers/engineers, data scientists, technical writers and brand and marketing managers.</li>
<li>Assist with the provision of full product counseling, from initial stages of product conception and development, through post-launch maintenance and refinement.</li>
<li>Support designated business units with any and all legal questions and issues that may arise.</li>
<li>Foster a self-driven approach, independently issue spotting and working with appropriate internal and external legal experts, to generate risk-based guidance and counseling tailored to business capabilities and goals.</li>
<li>Develop an acute understanding of business processes, including business partner goals, priorities and dependencies/constraints, and leverage this understanding to assist with cross-functional solutioning and collaboration across Carvana's vertical and horizontal teams. </li>

About the Role
In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a Chief, Higher Education Partnerships, who will set the vision for how the organization cultivates new partnerships and strengthens existing ones. As the most senior leader of the Higher Education Partnerships team at Braven, you will report to the Chief Executive Officer and lead a team of 3-6 that executes directly in specialized areas, create systems and tools that foster efficiencies, and empower Braven’s regions to steward complex higher education relationships with excellence. The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader with a deep understanding of higher education, a strategic thinker with strong relationship-building skills, and a deep passion for student success.
This role is on the Higher Education Partners team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
What You’ll Do
Strategic Planning (40%)

<li>Create the vision for and oversee the execution of the organization’s higher education partnership strategy, working alongside Braven’s Strategy and Finance team and other relevant teams as needed, to ensure alignment that drives Braven toward partnership growth and success.</li>
<li>Create the vision for, and oversee the execution of, the organization’s recruitment strategy to ensure Braven meets its ambitious growth goals.</li>
<li>Develop strategies to engage potential new partners, demonstrating the value of our service to university leadership.</li>
<li>Create a vision and operational plan for partnership excellence, working with regional EDs and other internal teams as needed, to develop robust metrics and continuous improvement processes to strengthen relationships and drive outcomes and accountability.</li>
<li>Responsible for higher education market intelligence, understanding the current and future landscape, understanding trends in higher education and career services to provide valuable insights and guidance to Braven and our partners.</li>

Compensation and Benefits
Braven offers competitive base salaries based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size, with opportunities for salary growth over time. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously. Given our commitment to equity, Braven does not negotiate salary offers; instead, each salary offer is determined carefully using external and internal benchmarking.
New hires can expect a starting salary at the beginning of the range to allow room for growth with performance and so that Braven maintains internal equity. The salary ranges, by geographic market, for this role are set forth $187,100-$233,800 in Atlanta, $197,600-$246,900 in Chicago, $217,300-$271,600 in New York, NY and Newark, NJ. This is a full-time, regular, exempt, and benefits eligible position where you will be working at 100% capacity.
