SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:The Addiction Counselor will provide therapeutic services to clients at three residential treatment program locations, ensuring high-quality care in alignment with program goals. The counselor will be responsible for conducting one 45-60-minute session per day at each location and collaborating with supervisors and program directors to optimize client outcomes.
This position requires the counselor to adhere to a structured weekly schedule, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in supervisory and operational check-ins.
 
SCHEDULED DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Counseling Services:

SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:The Addiction Counselor will provide therapeutic services to clients at three residential treatment program locations, ensuring high-quality care in alignment with program goals. The counselor will be responsible for conducting one 45-60-minute session per day at each location and collaborating with supervisors and program directors to optimize client outcomes.
This position requires the counselor to adhere to a structured weekly schedule, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in supervisory and operational check-ins.
 
SCHEDULED DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Counseling Services:
<ul>
<li>Facilitate group counseling sessions at three designated locations as per the weekly schedule.</li>
<li>Address addiction recovery, coping mechanisms, and relapse prevention in therapy sessions.</li>
<li>Tailor sessions to meet the unique needs of clients, ensuring evidence-based approaches are utilized.</li>
</ul>
Supervision and Collaboration:
<ul>
<li>Participate in scheduled weekly check-ins with the Counseling Supervisor every Wednesday.</li>
<li>Collaborate with the OMHC/SUD Operations Manager and Program Director for additional tasks as needed.</li>
</ul>
Documentation and Compliance:
<ul>
<li>Accurately document client sessions, treatment plans, and progress reports in alignment with organizational policies.</li>
<li>Submit documentation promptly to maintain compliance with legal and organizational requirements.</li>
</ul>
Travel and Coordination:
<ul>
<li>Travel to designated residential treatment locations as per the daily schedule.</li>
<li>Coordinate effectively between locations to maintain punctuality and consistency in service delivery.</li>
</ul>
 
UNSCHEDULED DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Assist supervisor with work-related requests.</li>
<li>Collaborate with and serve as program POC for external treatment providers and outside agencies as needed.</li>
<li>Responsible for following regulations of COMAR, CARF, any other regulatory body, and company policies/ procedures related to service delivery and documentation and co-facilitating orientation of all new hires to these as well.</li>
<li>Support the maintenance of a safe environment by participating in training and drills as requested.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients treatment.</li>
<li>Participate in external and internal audits/surveys (CARF/CSA/OHCQ) as directed by the supervisor.</li>
<li>Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement plans by completing periodic audits or other activities to ensure regulatory compliance and/or improve service delivery.</li>
<li>Ensure the medical director or clinical supervisor reviews and co-signs documents as required.</li>
</ul>
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Regularly walk, stand, or stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and regularly drives a motor vehicle.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Proven working experience in counseling, including as a nurse, medical, mental health care manager, or a related job

Education:
Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
