POSITION SUMMARY:
To work as part of a team providing nursing care to patients/families by utilizing the nursing process. To prioritize the delivery of direct nursing care, using time and resources efficiently. To assist physicians with procedures. To supervise personnel who are assigned to work area. To work collaboratively with office staff. To make nursing judgments and decisions; assume responsibility for nursing care and documentation. To assist in carrying out safe aseptic technique and procedures. Offers leadership and direction to non-RN staff.
MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS:
Under general supervision –

<li>Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by physician</li>
<li>Assists physician with various procedures or delegate/assign to other healthcare team members as appropriate</li>

<li>Responsible for the clinical supervision of non-licensed assistive personnel</li>
<li>Assess patient on arrival and throughout stay</li>
<li>Able to initiate IV therapy</li>
<li>Prepare rooms, equipment and supplies to accommodate patient load</li>
<li>Monitor patients before, during and after procedures</li>
<li>Provide patient education</li>
<li>Able to clean, disinfect and/or sterilize instruments and equipment</li>
<li>Ensures equipment is in working order prior to patient care</li>
<li>Documents nursing care given, including patient response</li>
<li>Re-stocks room daily</li>
<li>Demonstrates economic use of supplies and equipment</li>
<li>Ensures a clean and tidy work area throughout the day</li>
<li>Responsible for complete and thorough performance of assigned tasks</li>

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

<li>ACLS certification preferred</li>

Abilities:

<li>Physical Power: On feet/walks 9-11 hours a day. Assumes and maintains various postural positions including but not limited to: kneeling, reaching, stooping, bending, and crouching. Repositions patients. Transfers patients.</li>

<li>Able to lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.</li>
<li>Ability to pass Drug and Alcohol Screen</li>
