Job Description Summary:
The Housing Resource Center (HRC) serves as a centralized crisis call center for individuals and families experiencing housing instability. As a Housing Resources Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for callers in urgent need of housing support. This role requires conducting intrusive and intensive screenings to assess eligibility for limited and highly competitive housing programs. You will gather detailed information about the caller’s housing history, income, household composition, and other sensitive factors to determine the most appropriate referrals and next steps.
This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating difficult conversations in a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment.
Essential Functions:

About Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Team (MRRCT):
The Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Team (MRRCT or “Meerkat”) at DESC, is a county funded program responsible for addressing the imminent and emergent needs of community members in crisis, in the central region of King County primarily covering the entirety of Seattle. The DESC team has been providing mobile crisis response services to the community for well over a decade. 
 
As a nonprofit with over 45 years of experience focused on serving our community’s adults living with long histories of homelessness, behavioral health, and other disabling conditions, DESC is uniquely positioned to connect people in crisis to the important support and survival services they may need to overcome and prevent future occurrences of crisis, behavioral health distress, or other instabilities in our community. 
 
JOB DEFINITION:
As a member of DESC's Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Team, you will be on the front lines responding to adults in the community experiencing mental health or substance use crises, as dispatched to us by Crisis Connections (988). You will work in a team alongside other skilled colleagues, including Mental Health Professionals and Crisis Outreach Specialists. Once called into action, teams of two will assist individuals responding to wherever they are in the community in identifying appropriate therapeutic options and next steps to resolve their crisis, while avoiding unnecessary usage of emergency rooms or other non-therapeutic settings like jail. We are working to stop the trend of criminalizing mental health disabilities and homelessness, and we want to make sure individuals in crisis get the help they need. Following our initial interaction, our teams will also follow up to ensure recommended service connections have been made to prevent future crisis events. The team works all throughout the central region of King County, primarily Seattle, in a wide variety of community settings every day throughout the year, and in all types of weather. 
 
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>In response to and cooperation with Crisis Connections and other referents (such as police, fire, medics), perform timely outreach services to individuals needing crisis intervention services, assessment, referral, and linkage to needed services.</li>
<li>As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, conductive meaningful engagement to provide observation for multi-axial assessments, and substance use disorder assessments. </li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The Communications Specialist manages incoming marketing requests, coordinates workflow to meet deadlines, and serves as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders. This position contributes to strategy development, ensures consistent messaging across all platforms, and supports member growth, engagement, retention, and fund development.
 
On-site position: This role is based at our Association office in Grand Rapids, MI and requires regular in-person attendance, Monday - Friday, with some evenings and weekends for events. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Writing &amp; Content Development 
<ul>
<li>Write and edit content for multiple channels including website, email, social media, print materials, and internal communications.</li>
<li>Contribute ideas and input to communications planning in collaboration with the Communications Director.</li>
<li>Draft blog posts, program descriptions, newsletters, and other content that supports the Association's brand voice.</li>
<li>Proofread and edit copy to ensure accuracy, brand consistency, and alignment with messaging guidelines.</li>
<li>Update website content to maintain accuracy and engage users.</li>
<li>Apply search engine optimization (SEO) best practices in content development.</li>
</ul>
Email Marketing
<ul>
<li>Execute end-to-end production of email marketing campaigns that engage members, program participants, and donors.</li>
<li>Collaborate with marketing team on email scheduling, production, and implementation.</li>
<li>Maintain marketing automation systems to ensure the email program scales effectively with membership growth.</li>
<li>Monitor campaign performance and report analytics to inform future improvements.</li>
<li>Validate email functionality and appearance across browsers and platforms.</li>
</ul>
Social Media
<ul>
<li>Implement social media content that engages members, program participants, and donors.</li>
<li>Create compelling content across platforms and stay current on social media trends.</li>
<li>Monitor and respond to community questions and feedback to support the Association's digital reputation.</li>
</ul>
Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.
 
COMPENSATION
$24.00 - $28.00 hourly ; Full Time, Non-Exempt (40 hours/week)

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in communication, journalism, marketing, web development, or related field preferred but not required</li>
<li>Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant marketing experience in a business-to-consumer environment required. </li>
<li>Proven Expertise: Strong written and oral communication skills and experience managing multi-channel campaigns for a multi-location company or organization. Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as WordPress. Demonstrate understanding of SEO and web traffic metrics. Demonstrate success implementing email campaigns that maximize sales conversion and engagement through design, delivery and analytics. Strong creativity, human relation skills, a strong sense of time management, and the ability to exercise discretion.</li>
