The Trauma Registry Associate works under the regular supervision of the Trauma Program Manager. The Associate is responsible for the collection, data entry, maintenance, and reporting of data obtained from Emergency Department documents and electronic medical records as required by appropriate regulatory agencies.
rincipal Duties:
1.&nbsp;&nbsp; Participates as an integral team member in the maintenance of and preparation for review of the Level II Trauma Center.
2.&nbsp;&nbsp; Assigns and scores all injuries utilizing the AIS and ICD-9/10 scoring system. Completes and verifies for accuracy all data collected.
3.&nbsp;&nbsp; Assists with the identification of appropriate cases for inclusion in the trauma registry.&nbsp; Ensures that inclusion criteria for entry into the Trauma Registry as set by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) is followed.
4.&nbsp;&nbsp; Ensures compliance with National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB) and other State regulatory agencies.
5.&nbsp;&nbsp; Reviews, corrects and validates Trauma Registry reports prior to submission.
6.&nbsp;&nbsp; Participates in statewide meetings of Maryland Trauma Registry, Education, and Injury Prevention Quality Improvement Council (TQIC).
7.&nbsp;&nbsp; Utilizes paper and electronic records as well as other hospital and EMS databases to assist with the collection of data to be entered into the Trauma Registry.
8.&nbsp;&nbsp; Appropriately codes injuries, complications, and procedures with 100% accuracy.
9.&nbsp;&nbsp; Enters designated data in the trauma registry with 100% accuracy.
10. Performs concurrent and retrospective trauma chart audits for accuracy, in collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager.
11. Evaluates the documentation of nursing staff/hospital providers and identifies missing data elements. Coordinates with nursing administration to correct and obtain the information on the hospital record. Reconciles data as the information becomes available.
12. Recognizes when Trauma Standards of Care are not being met. Identifies cases requiring further review by committee.
13. Evaluates current trends in injury mechanism and advises administrative team regarding needs for Prevention Initiatives.
14. Communicate with the Trauma Program Manager concerning any questions, problems, issues or concerns related to the trauma registry or trauma program.
15. Maintains strict patient, physician, trauma program, and hospital confidentiality at all times.
16. Assists with trauma program activities as requested including but not limited to focused chart audits and data validation, trauma outcomes management, trauma education, trauma data analysis.
17. Collaborates with Information Technology computer hardware and software maintenance and backup to assure proper registry function.
18. Represents the trauma center at national, state, and local meetings, as requested by the Trauma Program Manager. Serves on local, state, and national committees as requested by the Trauma Program Manager.
19. Works collaboratively with physicians, coworkers, management and other internal/external departments.

JOB SUMMARY
The Crisis Intervention Specialist serves primarily as an advocate and case manager for victims of sexual assault and provides hospital and law enforcement accompaniment to underserved and newly established hospitals and law enforcement agencies. The Crisis Intervention Specialist, along with other trained staff and volunteers support Resource &amp; Crisis Center of Galveston County, Inc. (RCC) Certified Rape Crisis Center programming and services. The Crisis Intervention Specialist responds in-person and by phone to victims of sexual assault, therefore this job requires access to reliable personal transportation to fulfill medical accompaniment responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li> Provide medical accompaniment on an on-call basis for victims of sexual assault.</li>
<li> Respond promptly to hospitals for medical accompaniment to victims of sexual assault.</li>
<li> Provide clients forms and information to begin recovery. Supports as advocate and facilitator working in partnership with survivors.</li>
<li> Help clients develop a recovery plan by jointly reviewing the assistance they have received, identifying any un-met needs, and determining possible sources for gaps in resources.</li>
<li> Provide evidence-based and trauma informed interventions (i.e., crisis intervention) for clients as appropriate to employee training, and licensing.</li>
<li> Remain in contact with the client until the survivors needs are met and/or the case is closed.</li>

<li>In partnership with Clinical Documentation Leadership and the Medical Directors of Clinical Documentation, maintains integrated relationships with business unit and system physician and administrative leaders to advance quality metrics through front-line documentation efforts.</li>
<li>Rounds daily with physician and advanced practice providers (APPs) in assigned service line(s) or business units to ensure appropriate and accurate documentation in the medical record.&nbsp; Ensures the level of services and acuity of care will accurately be reflected in quality outcomes.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Partners with operational and medical leadership in a given service line or business unit to identify, develop and implement successful communication and education, to engage physicians and improve processes and outcomes.</li>
<li>Performs daily medical record reviews in assigned service line(s).&nbsp; Performs data collection activities to identify documentation issues, quality issues, and opportunities for improvement in patient care and services.</li>
<li>Basic understanding of clinical documentation through the lens of local and national quality and ranking methodologies, including but not limited to, U.S. News and World Report, Vizient, Leapfrog, the CMS Star Rating, and payer contracts and assists the Managers of Clinical Documentation in execution of and maintenance of key strategies to effect change.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Understands the basics of leveraging their NM network to initiate conversations, identify root causes and resolution, and align resources.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Analyzes quality and patient safety data to identify patterns in the management of patient care and services using reported 1.) Hospital acquired conditions, 2) Patient safety indicators, 3) Case Mix index, and 4) Expected mortality.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Collaborates with the Clinical Quality Team to model, teach and improve upon the culture of safety with shared improvement in all venues.</li>
<li>Presents updates to operational and medical leadership, attending and resident physicians and interdisciplinary quality committees.</li>
<li>Communicates effectively and collaborates with colleagues and the Clinical Coding Team.&nbsp; Fosters an environment to execute a shared vision in creating a model of best practice in the accurate reporting of patient diagnoses, comorbid conditions and treatment rendered.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Professional Development and Education:

<li>Masters evidence and literature in relevant clinical area, discipline, and improvement science, including clinical quality improvement, patient safety, human factors, failure modes, root cause analysis, and related performance and safety resources.&nbsp;</li>

Qualifications 
Required:

<li>Valid Driver's License, a good driving record, current motor vehicle insurance which meets State requirements, and an operable vehicle that meets FPI's Driving Standards and Personal Vehicle Use policy.</li>
