The New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) is a not-for-profit service and research organization that operates in partnership with the New York City Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice. CJA is the City's main pretrial services agency, combining operations, pilot projects, and research under one roof. CJA utilizes procedural justice practices to provide pretrial services to over 100,000 persons arrested annually in New York City. Information collected about these arrestees and subsequent case processing is maintained in the agency's internal and externally shared database systems, which are used to conduct descriptive and evaluation research on arrestee characteristics, case processing and court outcomes, and on issues and potential reforms to criminal justice policy in New York City. CJA's programs operate in the criminal courts and detention facilities 24 hours a day seven days a week within the 5 boroughs of NYC, employing over 300 employees, citywide.
CJA works to reduce jail overcrowding and unnecessary detention in New York City. CJA is the City's main pretrial services agency, combining operations, pilot projects and research under one roof. The Queens Supervised Release Program operates in Queens Criminal Court and serves individuals of all ages who are charged with felonies and misdemeanors, and who present a substantial likelihood of detention but are at risk of failing to appear in court if released on recognizance. It provides pretrial supervision and voluntary referrals for social services, including job training, employment, drug treatment, and mental health counseling. Position:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Clinical Services (ACD) II for Supervised Release, the Associate Clinical Director (ACD) I will supervise, support, and lead a professional team of experienced and entry-level case managers, in providing the best possible care to their clients, including high risk and high needs clients, while adhering to a standard of quality for tracking client data and compliance.
Top Priorities:
Strategy: Support the ACD II in setting the tone and direction of the clinical services unit; support the design and implement strategies and best practices to grow the unit and ensure it remains competitive in the field. 
Program Development &amp; Excellence: Provide programmatic oversight to ensure consistency and continuity in the provision of services. As a case manager, you will play a critical role in helping individuals and families at risk of homelessness stay stably housed or relocate to stable housing. Your responsibilities will include screening and assessing client needs and developing strategic interventions to stabilize clients' housing. You will be expected to engage clients, assess for program and/or subsidy eligibility, develop service plans, conduct Housing Court advocacy, document progress, complete virtual/in person unit inspections, and follow up with external parties. The Job: The Manager, Media Relations will report directly to the Senior Media Adviser and will work closely with the Center’s attorneys and other U.S. Program staff. At this critical time for reproductive rights, she/he/they will help shape the organization’s messaging and create proactive press strategies to influence public discourse and policy makers, effecting real change. 
 
The Manager, Media Relations will play a critical role on the Press Team, securing coverage of the Center as well as its clients in high-profile media. The Manager, Media Relations will collaborate with the larger Communications Team to increase the visibility of the Center’s work in the U.S., including litigation and policy/advocacy work at the federal and state level. 
 
They will engage journalists and thought leaders at the national and local level to promote the Center’s work on priority issues like abortion access and maternal health care. This includes securing media coverage and interviews (TV, radio, online and print); placing op-eds in key media outlets; developing press materials and talking points; creating comprehensive press plans; and preparing spokespeople for media appearances.

Requirements:
 • Minimum of 8 years experience in media relations or journalism; 
• Successful track record of developing and executing communications strategies and campaigns in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment; 
• Strong experience in media and press strategy including print, broadcast and digital 
• Existing press relationships is a plus 
• Experience in advocacy or a legal field is preferred 
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate professionally under intense pressure; 
• Exceptional writing, editing and messaging skills; 
• Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively; 
• Proficiency with PR software such as Cision is a plus 
• Extremely sharp organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of projects, tasks, and 
files; 
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of strong personalities; sense of humor; 
• Willingness to work outside of standard work hours when breaking news occurs 
• Deep dedication to the Center’s mission, values, and strategic objectives. 
• Bachelor’s degree required
