Position Summary: A Radiation Therapist plays a critical role in the&nbsp;healthcare&nbsp;team by delivering prescribed radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other diseases. Qualifications:

Primary Responsibilities:&nbsp;

<li>Help ease patient's fear and apprehension about radiation therapy</li>

<li>Set up patients properly for accurate delivery of radiation treatment. Explain to patient what to expect during treatment and what the patient can do to make sure treatment is carried out accurately</li>

<li>Responsible for daily warm-up of treatment machine. This includes entering information in the warm-up log book. Any variations from parameters set by physicist should be reported to the Senior Therapist</li>
\n
<li>Responsible to check simulator for proper operation. Any problem that would interfere with proper operation should be reported to the Chief Radiation Therapist. All checks done should be properly entered on the simulator warm-up log</li>
\n
<li>Properly position patient for simulation of treatment area using immobilization devices as necessary to ensure proper position of patient. Explain to the patient what to expect during simulation and how the patient can help to make the process go smoothly and correctly</li>
\n
<li>Produce acceptable radiographs for simulation</li>
\n
<li>Tattoo the patient's treatment area safely when applicable</li>
\n
<li>Photograph the patient's treatment area &amp; face to be placed in the patient's chart</li>
\n
<li>Maintains audio and visual contact with patients at all times</li>
\n
<li>Schedule the patient for daily treatment</li>
\n
<li>Make sure the patient's marks are maintained during the course of treatment</li>

<li>Explain to the patient what adverse reactions might occur during treatment course. Notify the RN or Radiation Oncologist of patient's adverse reaction when necessary</li>

JOB SUMMARY
The Radiation Therapist, under the general supervision of a Radiation Oncologist, performs radiation therapy procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
<ul>
<li>Performs high-quality radiation therapy procedures, according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. </li>
<li>Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.</li>
<li>Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to identify patient service requirements, ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others. </li>
<li>Instructs and communicates with patients and their families regarding the test to be performed and assesses patient's ability to tolerate the exam.</li>
<li>Prepares patient and area for the procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.</li>
<li>Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. </li>
<li>Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures and maintains hand hygiene requirements.</li>
<li>Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. </li>
<li>Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of the equipment. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. </li>

Requirements:
Graduated from a Radiologic Technology accredited program.
Certification and registration in Radiation Therapy by the ARRT
RTT License from the state of XX
X&nbsp;years of experience as a Radiation Therapist
Experience in&nbsp;X&nbsp;linear accelerators
Experience in&nbsp;X&nbsp;EMR
Other requirements specific to job/client

We provide a competitive range of compensation for this position. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience and specific office location. It is possible that this position can be hired outside of the salary range based on experience.
