<li>Ensure exam rooms are prepared for patient visits, including equipment operability, supply inventory, and cleanliness utilizing standard stocking procedures.</li>
<li>Ensure patient care equipment operates in accordance with quality standards.</li>
<li>Provides patient education in support of patient visit and ongoing care.</li>
<li>Assist with orientation and training of new staff members.</li>

 Education/Experience:

<li>For Clinical Support I : Must hold a current MA certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCTand retain active certification for duration of employment. Completion of a two year accredited Medical Assistant Program/Associate Degree is preferred. </li>
<li>For Clinical Support II : Completion of Licensed Practical Nurse program and an active, unrestricted LPN license required. </li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required</li>

Tasks requiring clinical judgment and health counseling must be overseen by the physician they are supporting.

<li>MA's may assist Physicians, Physicians Assistants and Nurse Practitioners with patient preparation and treatment, patient chart organization, dissemination of reports; referrals, telephone calls, inventory, ordering and general organization.</li>
<li>MA's may be required to have an authorization by the state to perform needle injections and venipunctures. MA's may be required to demonstrate knowledge and demonstrate competence in vaccine/medication administration prior to and/or ongoing in their regular assignment of duties.</li>
<li>Some states require that the medical assistants who draw blood for lab tests are certified and have passed a practical exam as part of phlebotomy training. </li>
<li>Duties vary according to state law and include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting during diagnostic examinations.</li>
<li>Medical assistants collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments.</li>
<li>MA's may instruct patients about medications and special diets as directed, prepare and administer medications as directed, authorize drug refills according to protocols as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, draw blood, prepare patients for X-rays, take electrocardiograms, remove sutures, and change dressings.</li>

 RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to:

<li>Plan, design, and execute complex, high-profile audits, investigations and advisory engagements across NSHE institutions in accordance with professional auditing standards (IIA, GAO, and other applicable frameworks). Partner with management to assess risk, evaluate operations, and test the adequacy of internal controls, compliance with policies, and regulatory obligations. Prepare comprehensive workpapers to document testing, research, and analysis, and develop audit programs tailored to identified risks. Provide independent and objective assessments of risk management, governance, and financial control processes. Recommend actionable improvements to strengthen efficiency, accountability, and compliance across the System. </li>
<li>Prepare and present clear, concise, and comprehensive audit reports to NSHE management, the Audit, Compliance and Title IX Committee (when serving as Chief Internal Auditor), and other stakeholders. Communicate audit findings with fact-based recommendations, facilitate discussion of corrective actions, and support management in implementing solutions. Monitor and appraise the adequacy of corrective actions to ensure sustained improvements. Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement across NSHE institutions. </li>
<li>Review, evaluate, and approve audit staff workpapers, reports, and documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to departmental and professional standards. Establish and maintain a robust quality-assurance program to safeguard the independence, scope, and technical proficiency of all audit work. Make internal audit documentation available to external auditors and coordinate with them to minimize duplication of effort and strengthen overall assurance coverage. </li>

<li>Assists the team in carrying out department responsibilities and collaborates with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.</li>
<li>Reviews, researches and summarizes regulatory requirements, policies and procedures related to Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS), Medi-Cal and Covered California regulations.</li>
<li>Supports in drafting reports, policies, procedures and facilitating activities for assigned programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Carries out activities to ensure monthly production of provider directories, web enhancements, usability improvements and overall compliance.</li>
<li>Participates in internal department meetings with Information Technology, Customer Services, Provider Relations, Contracting, Regulatory Affairs, health networks and vendors to provide program updates and collect data to assist in resolving issues</li>
<li>Reviews and supports data integrity activities related to network adequacy, directories production and quality programs assigned.</li>
<li>Develops and maintains program and project documentation, including workplans, process flows, communications and desktop procedures.</li>
<li>Collaborates with internal teams to update processes, policies and procedures through appropriate organization channels under the direction of management.</li>
<li>Assists with creating implementation plans, monitors organized program plans with clear deliverables and timelines.</li>
<li>Evaluates project/program activities and results to identify opportunities for improvement. </li>
</ul>

<li>Bachelor's degree in public health, health administration or related field PLUS 2 years of experience in health care administration working with health plan management functions required; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position such as those listed above may also be qualifying.</li>
