Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow&nbsp; Department of Spanish and Portuguese New York University Arts and Science APFF (Managing Editor, Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies + language teaching) The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at New York University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor Faculty Fellow (APFF) position in the field of Spanish Peninsular literature and culture. Area of expertise may range from medieval to contemporary, with specialty and chronological focus open. The APFF’s primary responsibility will be to serve as Managing Editor for the Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies with an additional 1:1 course load teaching Spanish language courses in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. To this end, Maybeck’s School Director must have a broad-minded definition of servant leadership, with sincere intention and demonstration of placing the group before the individual.
The Position and Strategic Priorities
In partnership with the staff, the Director will guide the school community both in everyday planning and long-term strategic direction, including helping to develop the next strategic plan. The Director is the outward facing spokesperson for the school, and as such, will provide persuasive and transparent communication that faithfully represents Maybeck’s culture and its core values. In guiding and structuring the efforts of the staff to achieve Maybeck’s mission, the Director will clarify Maybeck’s identity as a school through a collaborative process that will ultimately help strengthen Maybeck’s position in the marketplace.&nbsp;

Responsibilities will include preparation, analysis, review and reporting of Academic Affairs budgets for all funds, preparing complex analysis and providing timely, reliable and accurate data to the Provost to assist in decision-making. Under supervision of the Provost, the Director will advise senior management on fiscal impacts in the Academic Affairs division and will manage academic tracking and forecasting, commitments and expenditures and identify potential improvements of the academic budget administration. The Director will serve as the academic affairs liaison with the University Budget Office and provide budget training and guidance to the colleges and departments. Other responsibilities of this position will include assisting with the&nbsp;ATS&nbsp;system and communicating with departments regarding position budgets. The Director may also supervise Office Managers within the academic units. This position requires integrity and confidentiality as the Director will have access to sensitive data. Additionally, the position requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to make thoughtful, independent decisions for routine and non-routine decision-making. The ability to work independently, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and have strong organizational skills are required.
Qualification Requirements: 
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Business Management, Accounting or other closely related field and relevant experience in budgeting, analysis or production</li>
<li>Proficient user of computer applications and software programs including Excel, Access, Word and Adobe</li>
<li>Strong organizational and communication skills</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills &amp; detail orientation</li>
<li>Ability to work independently, problem solve and prioritize tasks</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Four (4) or more years experience working in budgeting, analysis or production</li>
<li>Experience working in higher education or equivalent environment</li>
<li>Experience supervising full-time staff</li>
<li>Experience with Banner</li>
<li>Experience with various reporting tools</li>
<li>Advanced user of Excel or Access</li>
<li>Experience working with analytical analyses tools</li>
<li>Experience developing process &amp; policy</li>
<li>Experience in business case analysis</li>
<li>Experience facilitating trainings</li>

Academic Affairs Budget Director

The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in international and global affairs. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in political science (with a specialty either in international relations or comparative politics), a strong commitment to producing rigorous social scientific research, excellent teaching skills, and a demonstrable interest in engagement with the world of practice. This search focuses on candidates eligible for appointment as assistant or (untenured) associate professors. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching in the Harvard Kennedy School’s core curriculum for students in its Master of Public Policy program.
