GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the administrative supervision of the Program Director or designee, this at-will direct service position is responsible for providing psychosocial, rehabilitation and recovery-oriented services for Turning Point members. This position also involves advocating for members in all areas of treatment and helping them apply for and receive services. Additional support in the areas of medication management, resource connection (e.g., housing resources, AOD, PCP, OP, etc.), counseling and advocacy will be provided as needed. Involves providing after hours, “on-call” coverage on a rotational basis based on program needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

<li>Meets regularly with clients at Turning Point sites or in the field, at job sites, homes, board and care facilities, skilled nursing facilities and other appropriate sites.</li>
<li>Consults with or meets regularly with the client’s family, care provider or other significant persons with client’s consent.</li>
<li>Coaches clients in developing age-appropriate social skills, money management, personal hygiene, and job readiness.</li>
<li>Assists in establishing client’s eligibility for Medi-Cal or other benefits and advocates for continuation of benefits when appropriate.</li>
<li>Develops financial management plans for clients who receive Representative Payee Services and authorizes appropriate expenditures.</li>

<li>Interacts productively within the team in order to provide holistic case management services to an identified group of clients.</li>
<li>Provides “on-the-spot” counseling that is both helpful to the clients and consistent with the philosophy of the program.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through graduation from high school or an accredited GED program and four (4) years of varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services. Relevant higher education may be substituted for up to two (2) years of experience. 
OPTIMUM:
Graduation from a four (4) year university or college with a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and four (4) years varied experience as a provider of direct mental health services or meeting other Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist qualifications.

Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Specialist practices healthy boundaries to assist participants with activities of daily living and self-care at the Girls' Residential Program (GRP). This role collaborates with and supports GRP team members across multidisciplinary focus areas, working directly with participants to help implement the treatment plan as prescribed. In order to improve participant skills, the specialist provides a supportive environment by modeling and encouraging positive behaviors and discouraging or de-escalating negative behaviors. 
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): 
Participant Supervision 
● Provide direct supervision to participants and guidance for behavioral health technicians 
● Develop daily schedule, assign tasks and ensure follow through by end of shift 
● Follow all Receiving Center policies and procedures, as well as what is outlined in the Participant Handbook (dress code, procedures for hygiene, medicine administration, etc.) 
● Report and record participant progress with various interventions 
● Take lead responsibility for writing statements (or collecting staff statements) regarding any critical incidents that occur on assigned shifts

● Complete 15-minute bed checks for participants during sleeping hours

Position Highlights:

<li>Full-Time: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30 PM EST </li>
<li>Location: This role will be performed at one location (Remote) </li>
<li>Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment.</li>
<li>Processing medical record requests by taking calls from patients, insurance companies and attorneys to provide medical status.</li>
<li>Documenting information in multiple platforms using two computer monitors.</li>

You will:
<ul>
<li>Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information.</li>
<li>Maintain working knowledge of Company and facility software.</li>
<li>Adhere to the Company's and Customer facilities Code of Conduct and policies.</li>
<li>Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes.</li>
<li>Assist with additional work duties or responsibilities as evident or required.</li>
<li>Consistent application of medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure.</li>
<li>Responsible for managing patient health records.</li>
<li>Responsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.</li>
<li>Prepares new patient charts, gathering documents and information from paper sources and/or electronic health record.</li>
<li>Ensures medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete.</li>
<li>Creates digital images of paperwork to be stored in the electronic medical record.</li>
<li>Responds to requests for patient records, both within the facility and by external sources, retrieving them and transmitting them appropriately.</li>
<li>Answering of inbound/outbound calls.</li>
<li>May assist with patient walk-ins.</li>
<li>May assist with administrative duties such as handling faxes, opening mail, and data entry.</li>
<li>Must meet productivity expectations as outlined at specific site.</li>
<li>May schedules pick-ups.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
