Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The Certified Nurse Midwife is responsible for the management of women’s health care focusing on pregnancy, childbirth, post-partum, family planning and the gynecologic needs of women. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Provide comprehensive healthcare to patients through assessment, diagnosis, management and evaluation of care, inclusive of the Collaborative Practice Agreement.</li>
<li>Consult with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care and/or make referrals to other members of the healthcare team.</li>
<li>Complete an accurate, orderly chart entry at each contact with a patient at the Health Center.</li>
<li>Provide professional program direction for the entire staff in collaboration with the Clinical Chief, Chief Medical Officer, Nurse Manager including but not limited to staff meetings and in-service education.</li>
<li>Participate in weekly after-hours telephone schedule.</li>
<li>Assist in the development of clinical programs, treatment protocols, departmental policies and the implementation for such in order to enhance standardized methods of performing medical and nursing procedures.</li>
<li>Participate in general orientation of all newly employed staff.</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with all applicable HIPAA, JCAHO, OSHA, Local, State and Federal initiatives and requirements.</li>
<li>Must satisfactorily maintain all terms and conditions of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Collaborative Agreement as required by the State of New Jersey.</li>

 POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation or Formal Training:
<ul>
<li>A minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited College or University is required. Graduate of a certified US Nurse Midwifery school.</li>
</ul>
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
<ul>
<li>&nbsp;RN License in State of NJ, CNM License with prescriptive privilege in State of NJ, valid CNM certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board, BLS /CPR certification from the American Heart Association, CDS and DEA licenses.</li>
</ul>
Previous Work Experience:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 3-5 years Nursing experience with 2 years in ambulatory care/and or similar environment.</li>
</ul>
Special Skills or Knowledge:
<ul>
<li>Ability to make sound decisions and to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff associates and the general public.</li>
</ul>
Additional Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>The Certified Nurse Midwife may be required to perform other duties as assigned or when necessary if such work becomes a permanent and regular part of the job a new job description will be prepared. Periodic rotation to the Elizabeth Health Center (E-port) site is required for this position.</li>

Essentially focusing on low-risk pregnancies and benign gynecologic care.
Duties
Prenatal Care: Performing regular checkups during pregnancy, monitoring fetal development, addressing concerns, providing nutritional counseling, and ordering necessary diagnostic tests.
Labor and Delivery Support: Actively assisting women during labor, monitoring fetal heart rate, performing vaginal exams, providing emotional support, and managing spontaneous vaginal deliveries. Providing patient assessments and offering management of routine obstetrical triage concerns.
Postpartum Care: Conducting postpartum checkups, monitoring healing process, providing breastfeeding support, and addressing any physical or emotional concerns.
Gynecological Care: Performing pelvic exams, providing contraception counseling, managing menstrual irregularities, and addressing other gynecological concerns.
Patient Education: Educating patients on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, infant feeding, and family planning options.
Collaboration with other healthcare providers: Consulting with obstetrician/gynecologists and other members of the healthcare team when necessary to ensure optimal patient care.

Functions
Function independently to provide high quality patient care in a way that is collaborative and patient centric. Care will include where appropriate gathering of history from the patient and others, physical exam, review of prior records, and review of ancillary data, using sound judgement, critical problem-solving skills, and up to date medical information. Duties
Prenatal Care: Performing regular checkups during pregnancy, monitoring fetal development, addressing concerns, providing nutritional counseling, and ordering necessary diagnostic tests.
Labor and Delivery Support: Actively assisting women during labor, monitoring fetal heart rate, performing vaginal exams, providing emotional support, and managing spontaneous vaginal deliveries. Providing patient assessments and offering management of routine obstetrical triage concerns.
