OVERVIEW:
The Medical Assistants’ primary responsibility is to assist in the delivery of health care and patient care management for the primary care practice. Pediatric Medical Assistants work under the supervision of the Office Manager in an office or clinic. Handle office, clinical and administrative duties to allow the pediatrician to focus on assisting patients. Setting up appointment times, filing and retrieving medical records, assisting patients with insurance forms and handling accounting duties are all tasks that a Pediatric Medical Assistant is expected to do on a regular basis.
The Medical Assistant behaves in a professional manner and consistently demonstrates and promotes the values (core values of organization). The Medical Assistant will work with and receive supervision from the Office Manager, Physicians and Nurse Practitioners.
Additionally, pediatric Medical Assistants communicate with patients on behalf of physicians, completing duties like rescheduling appointments and relaying information between providers and patients. Minor preparation duties like taking a patient's weight and height are also performed by pediatric Medical Assistants to prepare a patient to meet with the physician and assist with examinations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Title: Medical Assistant 2
Overview: The Medical Assistant 2 serves as the first point of contact for patients, performing both administrative and direct patient care responsibilities in an outpatient setting. This role involves moderately complex tasks, requiring interpretation of departmental policies and discretion in task prioritization. The Medical Assistant 2 works closely with Physicians and Nurses, delivering care within the scope of certification and under minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct clinical assessments including symptom discussion, vital signs, injections, specimen collection, blood draws, and diagnostic testing.

Maintain and sterilize examination rooms and equipment.
</li>
<li>
Document accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

Support administrative operations, scheduling, and patient communication.

Required Qualifications:

Job SummaryWe are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! As a Medical Assistant, you will be preparing for each patient visit by preparing charts and pulling notes before their arrival, providing routine support alongside nurses and medical staff, and assisting with keeping track of tests and lab reporting to ensure everything arrives on time and the patient is kept informed on their condition and care. You will also be helping manage the inventory of medical supplies, setting up machines and testing equipment, and cleaning instruments and rooms as needed. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, an interest in learning more about a working medical environment, and has previous office experience.&nbsp; Responsibilities&nbsp;

Medical Assistant I works under the Clinic Manager to assist with maintaining efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours. The Medical Assistant I works as part of a health care team including physicians, NP/PA’s, patient services representatives, medical records, health educators and social workers to provide comprehensive care in a non-judgmental manner. Unicare Community Health Center is a federally qualified health center providing comprehensive patient-centered primary care services including medical, dental, substance abuse treatment, mental health and outreach services to low income, multiethnic, uninsured and underinsured populations. This job requires access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management.
Duties/Responsibilities:

§ Provide back-up support for the medical assistant team, which includes all functions of a medical assistant.
§ Receives, greets, and directs patients for their health exam.
§ Assist with intake, financial screening, and set-up for patient visits.
§ Completes fee ticket, collects payment and insurance information.
§ Utilize eCW system to schedule and review appointments for need and accuracy.
§ Interprets for the provider and staff as needed.
§ Performs clinic front desk duties, including but not limited to, answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and/or verifying patient information, patient check in/out, coordinate and facilitate accurate patient appointments.
§ Process front and back patients check out to ensure completeness.
§ Assist with the training of medical and lab assistants, and volunteer staff on health education, and laboratory. Assist in providing on-going supervision to same staff.
§ Assist as needed including medication refill requests, specialty and procedure referrals, pre and post clinic chart review.
§ Review charts, lab test results, and encounter forms for completeness and to assess follow-up as needed.
§ Work with Manager to oversee dispensary logs and storage to maintain quality assurance.
§ Coordinate the inventory, ordering and supply stock maintenance of medical supplies.
§ Provide sick/vacation leave backup for other medical assistants.
§ Assists with daily and monthly quality assurance reviews including emergency kit check off.
§ Record and maintain the refrigerator and freezer temperature logs.
§ Order VFC vaccines.

Work Schedule
§ You will generally be scheduled to work each day Monday through Friday, with starting times each day varying between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and ending time between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., as required to meet the operational needs of the company. There will be occasional Saturdays as needed.
§ You will need to travel to other clinic locations as needed for cross coverage support.
