WHAT YOU'LL DO
Primary function is to provide Basic Life Support care to those in need at our facility within the guidelines set forth by the State of West Virginia Office of EMS. A EMT/Firefighter should be able to operate and maintain ambulance and equipment and maintain skill sets and certifications. A Summit Point Firefighter must protect the Summit Point Training Facility and Motorsports Park property which includes high speed racetracks, buildings, wooded areas, explosive ranges and other structures and areas. The position participates in fire suppression, vehicle extrication/stabilization, and standby for the explosives range.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
<ul>
<li>Perform daily check offs of equipment, ambulance, and fire truck to ensure they are in working order to respond to emergencies.</li>
<li>Perform triage and a variety of emergency medical treatments as an BLS provider as well as provide continuing care while en route to the hospital. </li>
<li>Follow West Virginia State Office of EMS protocols which include both invasive and non-invasive medical treatments. Skills/Therapies are included but not limited to assessment and evaluation of the ill and injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, administration of medications, applications of dressings and bandages, advanced airways management, and immobilizations. </li>
<li>Operate an ambulance and fire apparatus in a safe manner driving both emergency and non-emergency both on public roadways and motorsports tracks. </li>
<li>Work alongside and coordinate patient care with other members of the emergency services team to ensure all work safely together and for the best outcome of the patient. </li>
<li>Employ safe lifting and moving techniques. </li>
<li>Act as a mentor/preceptor for new hire EMTs and Firefighters. </li>
<li>Communicate professionally and effectively with both clients, coworkers, and over the radio channels.</li>

Minimum Position Requirements

<li>Be at least 18 years of age</li>

Job Description
<ul>
<li>Conduct fire safety, home safety, fire extinguisher and pre-fire planning inspections</li>
<li>Provide information to the public, install smoke detectors, conduct station tours, visit schools, and participate in public education standbys.</li>
<li>Performs fire suppression duties by responding to emergency fire alarms,&nbsp;structural, residential, commercial, industrial, chemical, petroleum, vehicle, aircraft and Wildland fires; applying the appropriate extinguishing agents to the source of the fire.</li>
<li>Operates various pieces of fire equipment and gear for fire suppression and control; drives and operates fire apparatus; search and rescue; ventilation and salvage operations.</li>
<li>Provides written reports detailing specific firefighting, rescue actions taken on scene, and patient care.</li>
<li>Respond to emergency medical calls by evaluating situations and transfers patients to medical facilities.</li>
<li>Provides emergency and non-emergency medical procedures both on scene and in a moving vehicle.</li>
<li>Treat patients in accordance with established Emergency Medical Service Protocols and AMR / Kurtz Fire Department policy.</li>
<li>Conduct daily and weekly vehicle and equipment inspections as assigned.</li>
<li>Ensure all vehicle and equipment discrepancies are documented and reported to the on-duty Fire Captain.</li>
<li>Participate in all required training sessions, including, but not limited to; live fire drills, performance evaluation drills, ongoing skills maintenance, practice and training, annual OSHA drills, EMS major skills and any other mandatory Company training.</li>
<li>Reviews paperwork for accuracy and correct process.</li>
<li>Implements corrective/preventive measures.</li>
<li>Cooperates with Internal Audit, Compliance and HR on any recommendations and changes to compliance and legal workflow issues.</li>
<li>Complies and enforces all policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Must successfully complete all required Compliance Training within the required time period and must have no compliance related corrective action during the current review period.</li>

Qualifications:

<li>IL certified BOF</li>
<li>IL State issued EMT-P / Paramedic</li>
<li>Current CPR/AED certification</li>
<li>Must possess IDPH EMT-/P license</li>
