Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and autonomous Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our home birth midwifery practice. The ideal candidate embraces physiologic birth, holistic care, and family-centered support. As a CNM in this role, you will provide comprehensive midwifery care to low-risk clients in a community setting—offering prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care in the comfort of clients’ homes and practice office.
This role requires excellent clinical judgment, comfort with autonomous practice, and a deep respect for informed choice and cultural humility.
Key Responsibilities:
Antenatal Care:
<ul>
<li>Conduct thorough prenatal assessments, including histories, physical exams, lab work, and client education.</li>
<li>Monitor maternal and fetal health throughout pregnancy.</li>
<li>Build trusting relationships with clients and their families.</li>
<li>Support preparation for home birth, including risk screening and emergency planning.</li>
</ul>
Intrapartum Care (Home Birth Attendance):
<ul>
<li>Provide full-scope midwifery care during labor and delivery in home environments.</li>
<li>Utilize intermittent auscultation, maternal assessments, and low-intervention approaches.</li>
<li>Manage normal labor and birth, including immediate postpartum and neonatal care.</li>
<li>Stabilize and initiate transfer in rare cases of emergency or complications.</li>
</ul>
Postpartum &amp; Newborn Care:
<ul>
<li>Provide postpartum care through in-home visits during the first 6 weeks after birth.</li>
<li>Monitor maternal recovery, mental health, and lactation.</li>
<li>Perform newborn exams, screen for jaundice, weight gain, and feeding issues.</li>
<li>Educate and empower families on newborn care and early parenting.</li>
</ul>
Administrative &amp; Collaborative Duties:
<ul>
<li>Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and charting.</li>
<li>Participate in regular peer review, chart audits, and continuing education.</li>
<li>Coordinate with consulting physicians, EMS, lactation specialists, and community resources.</li>
<li>Participate in practice on-call rotation.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Active Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) certification through AMCB (or equivalent).</li>
<li>Unrestricted RN and APRN licenses in the practicing state.</li>
<li>Current certifications in CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and BLS.</li>
<li>Minimum of 1–2 years experience in midwifery, preferably with home or birth center experience.</li>
<li>Experience or comfort attending births without direct OB backup onsite.</li>
<li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits.</li>
</ul>

Job Summary: Under the supervision of an Ob-Gyn Physician, manages the medical care of patients throughout the maternity cycle, including the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and gynecological periods. Provides standard maternity care and counseling to expectant women following ambulatory care and inpatient standardized procedures, protocols, policy and procedures and instructions regulated by the State of California Nurse Practice Act and Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Essential Responsibilities:

<li>Obtains an accurate medical, obstetrical, gynecological and psycho-social history of the present pregnancy.</li>
