Job Summary and Qualifications
What You Will Do In This Role:
· You will prepare patients for CT exam, explains procedure and ensure technical quality.
· You will promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education.
· You will possess knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to work accurately within the Imaging Department.
· You will serve as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff/student.
· You will work as a team player and meet the needs of the Imaging Department. 
What qualifications you will need:
· Associate Degree, Diploma or BSRT degree in Radiologic Technology is required.
· Current licensure by the Texas Department of Health as an MRT is required.
· Current registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) is required.
· Advanced certification in CT required within 6 months of employment.
· Previous experience in CT in a clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
· American Heart Association BLS certification is required.

Job Summary and Qualifications
Cardiovascular Technologists/Special Procedure Technicians are responsible for demonstrating knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, and the range of treatment and care for patients served. They are skilled in scrubbing/assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies. This role also involves recording and monitoring cases, with a strong understanding of hemodynamic measurements and readings from valve areas.
What You Will Do in This Role:

<li>Demonstrate the ability to perform contrast media administration according to age/weight-specific guidelines.</li>
<li>Demonstrate the ability to set up sterile trays and maintain a sterile field, according to hospital protocol.</li>
<li>Scrub and assist interventional physicians during interventional procedures.</li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge of drugs, their actions, side effects, and contraindications for administration.</li>

<li>Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS): You hold a current license or registry certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or you're committed to achieving this advanced registration within one year of your hire date.</li>
<li>Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)]: You possess a current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and are licensed through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).</li>

Beyond these essential credentials, you'll also need:

<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: A current certification is a must.</li>
<li>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training: You'll need to complete this within 6 months of joining our team.</li>

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist- Certified plays multiple roles on the Cardiac Cath Lab team as the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist during Cardiac Catheterization procedures. In both roles, he/she demonstrates technical proficiency in all Cardiac Cath Lab procedures and equipment; applies anatomical and physiological knowledge to proficiently assist the Cardiologist or Electrophysiologist with providing cardiac patient care. As the Invasive Specialist, he/she maintains good communication with the Cath Lab team to ensure proper equipment set up, accurate monitoring, and quality data collection.&nbsp;
Essential Job Functions:
1. Demonstrates technical proficiency for all cardiac catheterization procedures while functioning in a primary role as a Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist.&nbsp;
2. Consistently and correctly identifies cardiac structures, coronary vasculature, and the associated disease processes.&nbsp;
3. Practices radiation safety and observes all principles to ALARA. This includes a good knowledge of all regulations and requirements set forth by the Texas Bureau of Radiation Control and the Methodist Radiation Safety Committee and the proper use and storage of personal radiation badge.&nbsp;
4. Assists the physician in obtaining or entering data into the Physiologic Monitoring System(s) for accurate assessment of left and/or right-sided Hemodynamic pressure measurements. Assures accurate information is gathered or entered for the calculation of intra-cardiac shunts, valve areas, and pressure measurements throughout the catheter path.
5. Accurately reports Ejection Fraction by demonstrating proficiency in the assessment of Cardiac function, utilizing Left Ventricular Analysis program(s). Understands the disease processes that result in depressed Cardiac function such as: Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Myocardial Infarction, Valvular disorders, etc.&nbsp;
6. Consistently assures that Angiographic and procedural data is properly archived for long-term storage. Verifies the presence of all components of procedure information in both hard copy and computerized formats.&nbsp;

RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Differentiate between contrast media ionic, non-ionic, and low-osmolar. Recognize and treatment of contrast reactions.</li>

<li>Set-up, function, and use of devices related to foreign body retrieval, angiojet, intra-aortic balloon pump, coil embolization, temporary pacemaker.</li>
<li>Initiate hemostasis methods and support devices (mechanical closer or hemostasis accelerators) to include manual compression, femstop, radial compression devices, suture devices and collagen/thrombin devices.</li>
<li>Drape for vascular access studies such as venous: femoral, subclavian, internal jugular, others as indicated. Arterial: femoral and others as indicated.</li>
<li>Recover procedure rooms at the end of procedures, return unused supply to stock and clean medical equipment per MTF guidelines. This task also includes the restocking of supplies, return of medical equipment and turn-in/pick-up from sterile processing.</li>
<li>Assist with transportation of patient from hospital, and those in the air evacuation system requiring IABPs.</li>
<li>Assist with the orientation of newly assigned staff and medical students.</li>
<li>Serve on the “On-call team” for urgent cardiac catheterization (invasive) procedures 24/7 STEMI team and the Interventional radiology 24/7 team.</li>
<li>Complete daily/weekly/ monthly checks duty checklists pertaining to mission readiness.</li>
<li>Maintain inventory level of disposable supplies; stock accordingly, complete inventory checklist, requisition supplies and return excess stock.</li>
<li>Prepare equipment requisition. Ensure emergency equipment is available and functional.</li>
<li>Prepare reusable soiled surgical items for CMS sterilization: Turn instruments in and retrieve after cleaned.</li>
<li>Participate in unit training, and competency program.</li>
<li>Utilize and complete daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual checklists to maintain the unit in a state of readiness for procedures and patient care.</li>
<li>Additional duties as assigned such as maintaining cleanliness, serviceability of lead aprons and tracking dosimeters.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS
Degree/Education: Cardiovascular technicians shall possess a high school diploma or equivalent. In addition, an associate diploma, baccalaureate and/or master’s degree and must be a graduate form an accredited school of cardiovascular and interventional training from at least one 22 state or territory in the United States. Verification of education shall be supplied by the contractor in the pre-employment packet.
Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: All Cardiovascular Tech shall possess a current, active, valid, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification. Proof of RCIS verification shall be provided by the contractor prior to beginning work and at renewal date. Must have advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.
Experience: Cardiovascular Technicians shall have a minimum of 5 years catheterization laboratory work experience obtained after graduating from an accredited school of cardiovascular and interventional training. The contract cardiovascular technician shall be proficient on the selection, function and use of diagnostic and interventional sheaths, catheters, guidewires, guide catheters, balloon tipped catheters, stents, inflation devices, hemostasis valves, and access needles. The contract cardiovascular technician shall be proficient and function in but not limited to the following procedures: Left heart catheterization, Right heart catheterizations, Left ventricular gram, Percutaneous angioplasty, Percutaneous cardiac interventions, coronary stent placements, foreign body retrieval, Intravascular/cardiac ultrasound, Fractional flow reserve, coronary valve measurements, percutaneous cardiocentesis, cardioversion. The contract cardiovascular technician must be able to learn and function in procedures such as but not limited to: Drain placements, renal angiograms/renal angioplasty, nephrostomy tube placement, port placement/removal, paracentesis, thoracentesis, venaseal and biopsy procedures.

Licensure/Registration: All Cardiovascular Technicians shall possess a current, active, valid, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification.
