The George Washington University Law Library seeks a qualified librarian for its Head of Legal Technology &amp; Instructional Services position to begin as early as September 15, 2023. As a member of the library’s dynamic, collaborative Instructional Technology Services team, the librarian in this position has primary oversight for the Office of Legal Technology &amp; Instructional Services. This position leads the development and delivery of services supporting the integration of library resources into the curriculum, the curation and use of the library’s growing electronic resources collection, the use of scholarly communication technologies and services, and the undertaking of digital initiatives. As the subject specialist for legal pedagogy and technology competency, this position works to improve student success by embedding the library in online teaching and learning spaces, integrating librarians into the face-to-face curriculum, and supporting faculty adoption of technologies to achieve learning outcomes.

Head of Legal Technology & Instructional Services

The Assistant Dean for Career Planning and Professional Development provides leadership, management, and direct student and alumni services in the area of career services. This position oversees efforts to support JD students and alumni in obtaining employment, which is a high priority for the law school. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing personnel; developing and managing a departmental budget; managing public relations/marketing/outreach to students, employers, and alumni; generating and providing reports on topics such as employment statistics and service usage; and providing strategic, comprehensive programming and direct services to law students and alumni to assist with their career planning and professional development.&nbsp; Service to law students and alumni includes, among others, the following activities: • Providing guidance and counseling for students and alumni. • Providing document review of job application materials for students and alumni. • Serving as instructor of record in required, credit-bearing, first-year Career Exploration course &amp; Professional Planning course. • Administering a variety of workshops and programs. • Providing library and web-based resources, including online job listings and newsletters for students. • Administering mentoring programs that match students with professionals. • Administering interview programs. • Administering alumni/student receptions in major cities in and outside of Oregon as appropriate. Working within a team, the Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for the acquisition, receipt, maintenance, and renewal of electronic resources for the library. The Electronic Resources Librarian resolves electronic access problems, performs regular cleanup of data, and maintains records related to the library’s e-resources.
