The Center for Research on Race and Ethnicity in Society (CRRES) at Indiana University, Bloomington, invites applications for up to two <a href="https://crres.indiana.edu/programs/postdoctoral-fellowships/index.html" target="_blank">CRRES Postdoctoral Fellowships</a>. These fellowships provide support to scholars studying race and ethnicity from a broad range of fields in the social sciences and humanities, including education, criminal justice, environmental studies, international studies (e.g., climate, human rights, and development), gender/sexualities, public health, and media (e.g., consumer culture, game design, film, social media activism, and sports media). We are particularly interested in candidates whose research intersects with African American and African Diaspora Studies, Native and Indigenous Studies, Latino Studies, Asian American Studies, African Studies, Latin American Studies, and/or Global Indigenous Studies. Fellows will be placed in one of IU’s <a href="https://www.indiana.edu/academics/schools.html" target="_blank">sixteen degree granting schools</a>, and are expected to pursue research activities associated with their primary area of work, as demonstrated by conference presentations and published works. CRRES fellowships are designed to advance the careers of new scholars by providing opportunities to research, teach, and connect with mentors and with faculty in host departments. Strong applicants will demonstrate evidence of scholarly potential that will make them competitive for tenure-track appointments at Indiana University and other research universities.
Terms of Agreement Fellows are expected to pursue research, teach one course during each year of residency, and participate in CRRES as well as host department activities and seminars. This two-year position begins on August 1, 2024 and ends on May 31, 2026, at a 10-month annual salary of $51,500. Postdoctoral fellows will also receive Indiana University health benefits and $3,000 each year in research support.

Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Media School at Indiana University Bloomington invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor level in sports media and communication. The School seeks to expand its program of research and teaching in the field of sports and media, especially aspects of the field related to digital convergence, social media, sports journalism, sports media production, and/or sport organizational communication. The ideal applicant will have an active program of research focused on sports and media with the ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate students. The school serves nearly 1,900 undergraduate majors in four degree programs (Journalism, Media, Game Design, and Cinematic Arts) incorporating 11 concentrations. The school also offers graduate degrees (M.A., M.S. and Ph.D.) to approximately 75 graduate students, of whom two-thirds are in a doctoral program. Our state-of-the-art facilities include equipment for television, film and audio production, game design and communication research. Skybound is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Systems Designer to help build a thrilling new game franchise. The Senior Systems Designers create rewarding loops that help players set goals, progress, and stay engaged over multiple play sessions. They craft and tune player advancement and rewards across the entire game. 
You will collaborate closely with the Game Director, department leads, and cross-disciplinary teams to define and drive the strategic vision for player progression and meta systems. You’ll mentor other designers, establish best practices, and ensure the systems design team delivers high-quality, scalable solutions that support both gameplay and business goals.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

<li>Lead the vision and execution of player progression, meta systems, and engagement loops across single and multiplayer experiences. </li>
<li>Define and drive KPIs for progression systems that align with player satisfaction and business goals. </li>
<li>Mentor and guide systems designers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. </li>
<li>Own major feature areas from concept through implementation, ensuring quality and consistency across the game. </li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, art, UX, and production to ensure systems are well-integrated and technically feasible. </li>
<li>Establish and evangelize best practices for systems design, documentation, and tool usage. </li>
<li>Anticipate and resolve design challenges, proactively improving workflows and pipelines. </li>
<li>Playtest and iterate on systems regularly, using data and player feedback to refine and optimize. </li>

Requirements
<ul>
<li>10+ years of experience in the games industry, with a focus on systems design and progression. </li>
<li>Proven leadership experience, including mentoring designers and leading cross-functional initiatives. </li>
<li>Shipped at least one AAA title with significant ownership of progression or meta systems. </li>
<li>Deep understanding of player psychology, engagement strategies, and content pacing. </li>
<li>Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex systems into clear, actionable designs. </li>
<li>Experience collaborating with engineering on tool development and pipeline optimization. </li>
<li>Excellent communication and documentation skills, with fluency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, etc. </li>
<li>Strategic mindset, balancing creative vision with technical and business constraints. </li>

<li>Experience with Unreal Engine, including scripting and integration into production pipelines. </li>
