Position Summary 
The Associate Director of Industry Relations will report directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Corporate and Foundation Relations. The position also works closely with and takes some direction from the Engineering Research Center Director of the Carbon Utilization Redesign for Biomanufacturing-Empowered Decarbonization (CURB) and McKelvey’s Director of Industry Relations. The Associate Director of Industry Relations will advance an innovation ecosystem that optimizes industry engagement in the university’s research endeavors with a primary focus on the needs of industry engagement for CURB. The Associate Director of Industry Relations is responsible for establishing, developing, managing, and strengthening industrial partnerships for university-wide initiatives while prioritized those needed for CURB’s success and doing so in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Job Description 
Primary Duties &amp; Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Collaboration Facilitation: Cultivate relationships with corporations currently engaged at the university, including CURB members, to help ensure mutually beneficial engagement that strengthens over time. Manage membership engagement for existing CURB industry members by sending regular communications, executing membership agreements, organizing IAB meetings and symposiums, arranging industry visits, and addressing inquiries from industry members.</li>
<li>Partnership Development: Develop and implement strategies to discover and attract new industry engagement to benefit the university’s research ecosystem while prioritizing CURB-related research and educational programs.</li>
<li>Internal Facilitation: Coordinate with various internal stakeholders, especially with the Office of Corporate Relations, Office of Sponsored Research, McKelvey Industry Relations, Office of Technology Management, Joint Research Office for Contracts, and Center for Career Engagement to develop a comprehensive plan for securing industry letters of support for federal grants and finalizing agreements post-award. Create templates and background materials that can be used by various stakeholders for outreach. Maintain a calendar of up-coming opportunities for industry to engage with federal grant opportunities. Serve as primary liaison for Corporate Relations with the Office of Sponsored Research and the Office of Technology Management.</li>
<li>Reporting and Metrics: Track and report on industrial collaborations, outcomes, and metrics, including those related to CURB membership, technology transfers, patents, and student involvement in innovation programs. Prepare comprehensive reports of industry collaborations, including those needed for submission to the National Science Foundation.</li>
<li>Marketing and Outreach: Working with the appropriate Office of Marketing and Communications Office, identify the university-wide marketing needs to target opportunities for industry engagement in research collaborations. Additionally, specifically determine the marketing requirements for developing outreach materials and other communications in support of CURB in collaboration with McKelvey’s Office of Marketing and Communications.</li>

The University of Rochester seeks an experienced, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Associate Vice President for Human Subject Protection (AVP-HSP).&nbsp; Reporting to the University’s Vice President for Research, the Associate Vice President is responsible for the staff, resources, systems, and policies that enable research involving human subjects, sustaining safety and compliance while advancing knowledge.
Key functions of the Office of Human Subject Projection (OHSP) under the AVP-HSP’s responsibility include <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/rsrb/index.html" target="_blank">Research Subject Review Board</a> (RSRB), <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/education/index.html" target="_blank">Research Education and Training</a>, and <a href="https://www.rochester.edu/ohsp/quality/index.html" target="_blank">Research Quality Improvement</a>. At any given time, there are more than 2,000 active research studies being conducted by approximately 3,000 investigators, across more than 100 departments, centers, and labs at the University and University of Rochester Medical Center. The AVP-HSP must be forward-thinking and proactive in considering the impact that evolving regulations and external factors may have on University-wide research plans, programs, and operations. They are the University leader in human subject-research risk-assessment and risk-mitigation discussions.
As OHSP is a University-wide resource, the AVP-HSP collaborates with research deans across the University as well as the Office of Research and Project Administration, the Office for Clinical Research, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and the Office of General Counsel. Alongside research deans from each school and key members of the Office of the Vice President for Research, the AVP-HSP is a member of the University’s Research Executive Committee. Rochester’s human-subject protection program has been AAHRPP-accredited since 2004.
The AVP-HSP must be a highly visible member of the University community and continuously engaged with University stakeholders, communicating and demonstrating OHSP’s commitment to being a collaborative partner with departments and divisions across the institution. The AVP-HSP ensures that the 14-member OHSP team is likewise knowledgeable, skilled, trained, and engaged in serving the good of the broader University community in thoughtful, thorough, and objective engagements.
The AVP will have well-developed and tested leadership and collaboration qualities, extensive research compliance expertise, and experience working with clinical, translational, and behavioral researchers. They will have the highest level of integrity and will demonstrate a track record of developing, mentoring, and supporting diverse and high-functioning teams.
Viable candidates will have at least 10 years of directly relevant experience, including in positions in which they had supervisory responsibility. If they are not coming from a peer academic or medical institution, they will demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and will have relevant research leadership experience with large, matrixed, and highly complicated organizations. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a field that entails working with human subjects and Certified IRB Professional designation are preferred.

The News &amp; Content unit of the University of Virginia’s <a href="https://communications.virginia.edu/" target="_blank">Office of Communications</a> seeks a Senior Editor to help us tell the dynamic story of UVA and to advance its strategic priorities through content that engages with and grows a multitude of audiences.
This position would be ideal for a seasoned, mature editor at a daily newspaper, magazine or online publication with significant deadline experience and a track record of working with writers to generate compelling stories and improve copy.
The Senior Editor, reporting to the UVA Today Managing Editor, will oversee several direct reports; edit copy for grammar, accuracy, and adherence to Associated Press and local style; and research and write stories as needed. The ideal candidate will be a sharp-eyed, detail-focused journalist who efficiently shepherds daily stories through the editing process while also taking the time to help writers improve their craft. He or she will be attuned to news and current events and be able to quickly identify opportunities to showcase UVA’s students, faculty and staff in the context of the day’s key stories and issues.
Our Content &amp; News team operates a high-quality newsroom that values timeliness and urgency in its content, and collaborates to produce one of higher education’s most successful news products, and the most important strategic communications platform at the University.
