Key Responsibilities

<li>~35 sticks/evening shift</li>
<li>~25–30 sticks in first 4 hours of night shift</li>

<li>Primarily work with adult patients; occasional pediatric burn unit involvement.</li>

Required Skills &amp; Qualifications

<li>Proficiency in venipuncture, blood draws, and specimen collection.</li>
<li>Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience or clinical training.</li>
<li>Phlebotomy certification preferred (not required with experience).</li>
<li>Clinical rotation or hospital experience for newly certified candidates.</li>

Responsibilities:

<li>Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.</li>
<li>Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.</li>
<li>Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.</li>
<li>Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% correct.</li>
<li>Package specimens for transport.</li>
<li>Stores specimens according to the required temperature</li>

Qualifications:

<li>High School Diploma or GED is required.</li>

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Job Description
IVI RMA has a need for a Full-Time Phlebotomist in our Springfield clinic. This is a Monday-Friday role 5:30am-1:30pm with rotating weekends in Basking Ridge.
 
This individual will draw blood from patients for laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility. The Phlebotomist maintains a cooperative relationship with clinical staff and helps to create a positive experience for our patients.
 
Essential Functions and Accountabilities: 
<ul>
<li>Properly identifies patients.</li>
<li>Performs and explains the process of the venipuncture and/or other specimen collection as required.</li>
<li>Conducts blood draws, labeling specimens, and centrifuging specimens.</li>
<li>To store and transport specimen samples according to the different procedures to maintain integrity of the specimen. </li>
<li>Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.</li>
<li>Maintains clean and stocked phlebotomy Area.</li>
<li>Reassures patients and provide comfort to ease anxieties.</li>
</ul>
 
Academic Training: 
<ul>
<li>Completion of a Phlebotomy Program– highly preferred (required in CA, WA, TX).
<ol>
<li>Studies level: Certification</li>
<li>Studies area: Phlebotomy Program</li>
</ol>
</li>
</ul>
Position Requirements/Experience: 
<ul>
<li>3+ years' recent work performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting - required</li>
<li>Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings</li>
</ul>
Technical Skills: 
<ul>
<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Word, and Outlook - required</li>
<li>Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience - required</li>
</ul>
