Patient Care Technician (PCT) 
Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) at Health Systems Management support and work under the guidance of RNs to provide dialysis treatment to multiple patients at a time. PCTs have a combination of technical skills and compassion needed to improve the quality of life for our patients while promoting positive patient outcomes. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn the discipline of dialysis. We are currently looking for compassionate, dedicated, and highly motivated PCTs to join our dialysis team. 
 
$2000.00 sign on bonus for CCHT (Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician) or Bonent CHT (Certified Hemodialysis Technologist/Technician) Certifications.
Salary range is $17 - $27 per hour, depending on experience, to include various other factors.

PCT Responsibilities and Physical Demands:
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.

<li>Set up of the hemodialysis machine. </li>
<li>Greet patients and collect details regarding their previous treatment. Report any concerns or observations to the lead nurse.</li>
<li>Assist with and prepare the patient's vascular access for treatment.</li>
<li>Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatment per written policies, procedures, and standards of care.</li>
<li>Obtain patient’s vital signs before, during, and after dialysis treatment and appropriately document the inpatient medical record.</li>
<li>Responsible for appropriately calculating and documenting patient’s fluid removal.</li>
<li>PCT performs appropriate access cannulation and reports any difficulties in cannulation or unusual findings to the lead nurse. </li>
<li>Monitor patient for any adverse reaction(s) and conduct appropriate intervention to the lead nurse.</li>
<li>Monitor the dialysis machine for any malfunction. Report any malfunctions to the lead nurse.</li>
<li>Demonstrates knowledge of infection control as related to hand washing, personal protective equipment (PPE) and universal precautions,</li>
<li>Maintain patient safety and comfort, which may include assisting with personal care needs and activities of daily living.</li>
<li>Responds appropriately to emergency situations.</li>
<li>Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles.</li>
<li>This position provides direct patient care that regularly involves heavy lifting and moving of patients and assisting with ambulation. </li>
<li>PCT will spend considerable time walking, bending, stretching, and standing. </li>
<li>The employee may occasionally be required to move machines and equipment and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 pounds and as high as five feet.</li>
<li>You are required to acknowledge the inter-facility coverage policy that supports floating to various clinics during and after your training, if needed.</li>

<li>Hours of work may vary during the training period; however, you will typically be working between 36-40 hours per week during training.</li>
<li>You must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.</li>

PCT Education Requirements and Position Qualifications:

<li>High School Diploma required.</li>
<li>Basic computer knowledge required.</li>
<li>Healthcare experience is preferred but not required.</li>
<li>Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the Health Systems Management training program in its entirety. </li>
<li>The ability to work long hours is required. You could be on your feet for extended periods of time. Our day ends when patients’ care is completed.</li>
<li>Must pass the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) exam within 18 months following the first day of employment.

<li>Georgia Applicants - Previous dialysis experience is required. CCHT is preferred. </li>
</ul>

<li>Must have or obtain Basic Life Support certification approved by the American Heart Association</li>

WHAT A DAY AS A PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN - PCT LOOKS LIKE
In this position, you play a crucial role in the daily care of our patients. This is a dynamic position where no two days are the same, so you always come in ready to handle whatever comes your way. As directed by a licensed nurse, you help perform tasks such as assisting patients with mobility, collecting and labeling diagnostic specimens, and obtaining and recording patient vitals and admissions data.
