Job Summary and Qualifications
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>Obtains quality MRI images of patients. Demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols and exercises ability to adjust protocols as required.</li>
<li>Complies with MRI safety guidelines for patient and self, utilizes protective equipment when appropriate. Operates MRI scanner safely and competently. Ensures patient safety by screening for contraindications such as, but not limited to, cardiac pacemakers, sheet metal fragments, shrapnel, jewelry, wallet, metal prosthesis, etc.</li>
<li>Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e. Meditech and PACS). Ensure proper charges are entered and referring physicians orders are verified.</li>
<li>Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner.</li>
<li>Prepares examination rooms for MRI procedures. Monitors inventory of supplies during room rotation and maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance.</li>
<li>Proficient in obtaining IV access and administering contrast agents.</li>
<li>Reviews each exam for technical accuracy (i.e. technical quality, anatomical positioning, annotation, etc.) and completes verification process in PACS.</li>
<li>Assists PACS Administrator and MRI Supervisor with PACS clean up. ie: unarchived images, unspecified, etc.</li>
<li>Completes and maintains educational requirements.</li>
<li>Maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to Policy and Procedure</li>
</ul>
EDUCATION
<ul>
<li>Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. Responsible for continuing education credits as mandated by the ARRT for licensure.&nbsp;- Required</li>

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Responsibilities

<li>Performs MRI imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of California Proton Therapy Center.</li>
<li>Completes and signs Patient Screening form and explains the procedure to the patient.</li>
<li>Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the table and during the exam</li>
<li>Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company sponsored training programs</li>
<li>Under guidance and approval of imaging orders, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols</li>
<li>Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures</li>
<li>Maintains current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performed</li>

· Performs all MRI procedures and maintains a thorough working knowledge of the operation of all MRI equipment.
· MRI technologists utilize their knowledge of anatomy, physiology and the principles of MRI to safely and efficiently operate MRI scanners, assisting in the diagnosis of disease and injury.
· Safely operates the scanner and injector in order to produce diagnostic quality MR images.
· Responsible for assessing and clearing the patient for MRI safety. Reviews the physician order or patient chart for appropriate order, diagnosis and physicians’ signature.
· Set appropriate technical parameters, operate MRI scanners and related equipment, and observe image data on computer monitors during scans.
· Be familiar with the differences from a normal image and an abnormal image.
· Assure compliance with federal, state, and local technical and professional regulations and accepted practiced guidelines.
· Prepares the patient for the procedure and answers any questions. Position patients and coils on a table that slides inside the MRI scanner. Inject contrast media as required.
· Responsible for beginning and ending the procedure in the computer system to ensure proper billing for services and maintains accurate record of patients.
· Works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.
· Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and patients, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
· May perform other duties major and minor to contribute to the overall success of Encore Imaging.

Education and Formal Training:
