We’re searching for a dedicated Medical Transcriptionist to join a dynamic pathology department. You’ll collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, and office personnel to prepare final pathology reports that meet the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
Your Key Responsibilities:

Transform dictation into polished, client-ready pathology reports with accuracy and finesse.
</li>
<li>
Format surgical pathology reports using requisition forms, gross descriptions, and pathologists’ dictations.
</li>
<li>
Evaluate each pathology case to ensure it includes complete and correct documentation, following up with pathologists for additional details when necessary.
</li>
<li>
Manage documentation and distribution for consultation reports and specialized testing.
</li>
<li>
Apply your knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to ensure reports are flawless.
</li>
<li>
Handle confidential information with care and professionalism.
</li>
<li>
Pitch in with additional laboratory or administrative tasks as needed.
</li>
<li>
Work with systems like Winscribe Dictation and CERNER to produce top-quality reports.
</li>
</ul>
What We’re Looking For:

Experience: 5+ years in transcription, preferably in pathology.

Skills: Strong familiarity with systems such as Winscribe Dictation and CERNER, and a solid understanding of medical terminology.

TekSystems is currently hiring for a Medical Transcriptionist in the VA area! 
MUST HAVE: 1 or more years of medical transcriptionist experience! 
Description
This opening is in the Pathology Division of CHKD - THIS IS ALL SURGERY SAMPLES - inpatient, outpatient and autopsies - anything surgery related 
Day to day functions: 
Most of it is going to be administrative
Transcription process - Histotech transcribes the samples - they measure the growths, they describe it in a recording
that gets transcribed in the pathology report 
the pathologists go in and review the tissue and slides - the pathologist will record their findings in the report 
Then the recording will go to this person - the Transcription Admin - they will have to be transcribed in Cerner Pathnet
all of that needs to be transcribed in a final report - This person will listen to the recording and transcribe it in (there are templates in Cerner Pathnet that make it a little bit easier - it simplifies the typing component)
the report needs to be given back to the pathologist, reviews it - releases it 
other admin tasks - Sending out specimens, getting reports out, tracking 
Timeline varies based on specimen type - multiple parts 
typically takes a couple days to get the report out fully - could take about 15 minutes per transcription 
workload - enough to keep them busy every day - couldnt give me exact volume

A Day in the Role:
<ul>
<li>Work out of a dictation platform, signing into NextGen and the platform (part of NextGen), </li>
<li>Pull up work list and bring up voice files on 1 screen - they will download whatever provider they are assigned to that day - they will edit those in one screen and then copy and paste that into the EMR where there is a template that they bring up in the patient encounter</li>
<li>Typically they shoot to work within 48-72 hours of visit but right now they are around 4 days</li>
<li>As they work on the notes, they are listening to the doctors dictation, correcting the notes in the platform, copying sections at a time and paste into the template in NextGen in the patient's chart</li>
<li>As they work their way down, they may have to check into other systems to check in on x-rays or imaging or injections. If the provider schedules any of these things the transcriptionist will click on a "radio button" that will auto-populate a note in that states this. This is the same for if they are scheduling surgeries - it will populate text </li>
<li>Has to be a cohesive thought and be thinking at the same time to make sure it adds up - it is not just dictating what the doctor says - it is listening and making sure everything is correct and makes sense </li>
<li>Once they have everything there is a button they click in the EMR NexGen that will create the office note in the encounter</li>
<li>Will also have paperwork that the doctor sends up with the schedule and check it off as it gets completed, including paperwork from other hospital and doctor's visits and send to scanning</li>
<li>Metrics: work 30-60 notes/day dependent on doctor visits and note length</li>
<li>Systems: NextGen and the dictation software piece within NextGen</li>
</ul>

Requirements:

<li>2+ years experience in Medical Transcription field </li>
<li>Diploma or GED required</li>
<li>EMR experience preferred </li>
</ul>
