An oncology clinic is seeking a&nbsp;Medical&nbsp;Lab&nbsp;Technician (MLT) to join their team at their Round Rock North location. The MLT is responsible for:
<ul>
<li>Responsible for high complexity testing</li>
<li>Routine urinalysis hematology&nbsp;and&nbsp;chemistry testing</li>
<li>Move specimens from collection to spinning them down to preparing them to&nbsp;lab</li>
<li>Hands on with specimens, perform testing&nbsp;and&nbsp;prepare to&nbsp;lab.</li>
<li>Success is communication&nbsp;and&nbsp;asking questions&nbsp;and&nbsp;adjusting to the fast pace</li>
<li>Specimens get collected quickly&nbsp;and&nbsp;they start testing in house so when the provider is ready to see patient results need to be ready.</li>
<li>Assists with performing phlebotomy&nbsp;and&nbsp;collecting appropriate specimens from patients as ordered. Assures pre-authorization&nbsp;and&nbsp;completes appropriate consent forms (ABN) prior to collection of limited coverage tests.</li>
<li>Assists with special procedures as needed (i.e. bone marrows in the room).</li>
<li>Follows the&nbsp;laboratory's procedures for specimen handling&nbsp;and&nbsp;processing, test analyses, reporting,&nbsp;and&nbsp;maintaining records of patient results.</li>
<li>Performs specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology&nbsp;and&nbsp;Immunology specimens.</li>
<li>Maintains&nbsp;and&nbsp;operates all&nbsp;laboratory equipment. Performs daily, weekly&nbsp;and&nbsp;monthly instrument maintenance as indicated</li>
<li>Adheres to the&nbsp;laboratory's quality control policies&nbsp;and&nbsp;documents all QC activities, instrument&nbsp;and&nbsp;procedural calibrations,&nbsp;and&nbsp;instrument maintenance.</li>
<li>Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators,&nbsp;and&nbsp;reagents.</li>
<li>Participates in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis&nbsp;and&nbsp;reporting results at least once a year.</li>
</ul>
Must Haves:
<ul>
<li>Minimum 1 year of experience as a&nbsp;Medical&nbsp;Lab&nbsp;Technologist,&nbsp;Medical Lab Scientist or similar title.</li>
<li>Associate OR Bachelor's degree in&nbsp;medical&nbsp;technology,&nbsp;laboratory science, or related health care field.</li>
<li>AMT, ASCP or equivalent certification required.</li>

A Brief Overview
Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures and related duties. * Critiques, correlates and differentiates results of testing utilizing theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, and independent judgment; seeks MLS and/or supervisory resources as necessary. 
* Assesses the validity of results which appear usual, or which may differ significantly from previous results or expected values and take appropriate corrective action as necessary with assistance from MLS and/or supervisor as needed. 
* Participates in established lab CQI or other laboratory activities as assigned. 
* Provides instructions on proper pre-analytical specimen collection, specimen handing, and storage guidelines for various body fluids and/or may collect specimens as necessary.

Position Summary: Meade District Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our lab department. The MLT is responsible for collecting specimens and performing a wide range of medical laboratory tests and analyses in areas such as clinical chemistry, serology, hematology, urinalysis, bacteriology, and blood banking to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Responsibilities:

<li>Meet attendance and punctuality standards. </li>
<li>Adhere to hospital policies and procedures. </li>
<li>Maintain patient and system confidentiality. </li>
<li>Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids (blood, urine, spinal fluid) to identify normal and abnormal components. </li>

JOB SUMMARY

Job DescriptionSalary: 
Rapid City Medical Center has a full-time Medical Laboratory Technician position available in our busy medical laboratory. Performs technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and immunology. Reports test results following clinic protocols, ensures quality control in collecting specimens, maintains equipment and complies with all policies and OSHA regulations. Performs phlebotomy procedures if needed.
 
Position does require occasional early evenings, weekends and holidays (eligible for differential pay).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

<li> Performs full range of simple-to-complex sample testing and laboratory services. </li>
<li> Provides specialized expertise and testing in microbiology, urinalysis, serology, hematology, immunohematology, hemostasis, and chemistry while practicing infectious disease safety. </li>
<li> Ensures sample integrity. </li>
<li> Evaluates, judges and interprets test results and ensures accuracy. </li>
<li> Accepts and processes samples for on-site testing or forwards to contracted reference laboratories. </li>
<li> Identifies and resolves inconsistencies in patient results. </li>
<li> Maintains laboratory equipment and instruments. </li>
<li> Ensures quality control and functionality of instruments. </li>
<li> Completes quality assurance monitor in hematology, chemistry, and hemostasis.</li>
<li> Prepares lab for inspection from regulatory institutions. </li>
<li> Provides customer service for questions directed at the laboratory. </li>
<li> Answers questions from patient providers regarding test processes, patient results, or sample collection techniques. </li>
<li> Trains new employees and phlebotomy students. </li>
<li> Participates in continuing education programs. </li>
<li> Performs phlebotomy on patients when needed.</li>
<li> Monitors, maintains, orders and stocks laboratory supplies.</li>
<li> Performs other duties as assigned or required.</li>

EDUCATION: An Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Science, a Bachelors degree in Medical Technology. or related field and (1) year of clinical laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-or- Must be a High school graduate or equivalent and graduated from an HHS-approved lab training program.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess certification as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathology).
-or- Possess certification by an HHS-approved lab training program.
 
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:Moves among many outpatient and inpatient settings. Exposure to communicable diseases, sharp instruments, bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals.
 
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:Must be able to walk to various settings and to bend and reach and to stand or walk for varied periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies and equipment and help with patient transport and transfer. Occasional stress in dealing with priorities.
