<li>Demonstrates detailed knowledge of Medical insurance terminology, referrals, authorizations and pre-certification used by third party payers</li>
<li>Review aged A/R monthly on a regularly scheduled basis and appropriately route claims requiring special attention.</li>
<li>Maintains an accurate system of follow up on all activities that require special attention.</li>
<li>Identifies issues affecting reimbursement and cash collections and communicate issues in a timely manner to Billing Manager or CFO</li>
<li>Responsible for preparation for end closing and the generation of month end reports as assigned.</li>
<li>Responsible for collections of delinquent accounts.</li>
<li>Accurately maintains record of all collections and related activities.</li>
<li>Responsible for Insurance and patient Refunds.</li>
<li>Assists with cross-training of billing staff as assigned.</li>

AAI is actively recruiting a Medical Billing Clerk to support the 99th Medical Group located at Nellis AFB which operates one of the largest Air Force medical facilities in the Air Force, the Mike OCallaghan Military Medical Center. Its primary mission is to maintain medical readiness for worldwide contingencies by providing quality, cost-effective health care for more than 48,000 enrollees, including almost 15,000 active-duty members.This project will require the Medical Billing Clerks to monitor, manage and report on services for higher management and develops plans to improve timeliness and accuracy rates, service availability, and overall MTF performance and compliance.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: A Medical Billing Clerk will serve in the following departments, the Uniform Business Office (UBO) programs: Third Party Collections (TPC), Medical Services Account (MSA), and Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC). The Medical Billing Clerk initiates and processes claims for first or third-party payers on behalf of beneficiaries treated in MTFs. The Medical Billing Clerks must have the following mandatory

<li>Must speak the English language using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to prepare and edit written correspondence, reports, and transcribed material.</li>
<li>Standard office equipment, such as computers, typewriters, copiers, fax machines, telephone systems, and office automation systems, to perform a substantial range of medical billing support.</li>

<li>Inputs and updates patient insurance information in MHS GENESIS and TPOCS or into other databases required by the MTF. <li>Reviews medical records when needed for clarification of medical treatment, history of illness, medical tests, accident information, or any other clarification for billing purposes.</li>
<li>Prepares and mails or transmits claims to third-party payers using the UB-92, the HCFA 1500 Health Insurance Claim Form, or any other form required. Claims may also be processed electronically when available to the Government.</li>
<li>Conducts follow-up claim inquiries until payment is received and/or the case is closed.</li>
<li>Works with the facility Admissions and Dispositions Office to obtain authorizations and precertifications from third-party payers.</li>

 REQUIREMENTS:

<li>A fully qualified typist (computer keyboard) with a minimum of 40 WPM is required.</li>

Must have great phone and communication skills
Basic mathematical skills and data entry experience required

Job Summary: 
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Clerk to join our clients team in Atwater. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and collections and will be responsible for collecting payments from patients and third-party payers, resolving billing discrepancies, and ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding accounts. 
Key Responsibilities:

Perform collection activities related to patient accounts, including contacting patients regarding outstanding balances

Process and follow up on insurance claims with commercial insurers, Medi-Cal, Medicare, and other third-party payers
</li>
<li>
Verify and update patient account information for accuracy
</li>

Discuss financial matters professionally and compassionately with patients
</li>

Interpret and apply CPT and ICD-9 codes accurately
</li>

Resolve billing inquiries and disputes in a timely and courteous manner
</li>

Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an office or medical billing setting

At least 1 year of experience as a Patient Accounts Biller or in a similar role

Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
