Research Associate - Aquaculture Nutrition

Description The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking one (1) full-time pathologist for appointment to join our Hematopathology Division on the School of Medicine’s clinician-teacher pathway. Clinical responsibilities will include reporting of morphology for lymph nodes, tissues, bloods and marrows, as well as flow cytometry (diagnostic and minimal residual disease testing) and may include molecular diagnostic testing, hemoglobin electrophoresis and coagulation reporting, depending on the interests of the candidate. Educational activities include teaching hematology / hematopathology to students, technologists, residents and fellows. &nbsp;Applicants are expected to be involved in administrative aspects of the lab, including new test development, and develop an area of focused research / scholarly work.&nbsp;

Course description:&nbsp;Gross and Developmental Anatomy focuses on the gross structure of organs and their function, and through clinical correlations, relates each to clinical medicine.&nbsp; An Anatomical Learning Resource Center has been established to utilize computer-based instruction, anatomical models, radiographic materials as well as supervised laboratory sessions dissecting various parts of the human body.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Students study the structure and function of all organs with some interaction with cellular structure.&nbsp; This course incorporates an understanding of how embryological processes give rise to the mature body form.&nbsp; When this course is complete, each student will have extensive knowledge of the gross anatomy and development of the entire human body as it relates clinically to the practice of medicine.

The Position: The Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO (VPFA) reports directly to the President and is a key member of the President's leadership team. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

<li>Works under the close supervision of providers and maintains patient confidentiality.</li>
<li>Assists in obtaining patient and/or family information for Center records.</li>
<li>Takes X-ray images of patients, producing films of their skeletal structure for diagnosis and treatment.</li>
<li>Provides patients with protective materials to prevent overexposure to radiation.</li>
<li>Ensures timely repairs and replacements of equipment.</li>
<li>Obtains vital signs (B/P TPR) and conducts appropriate laboratory tests (blood and urine) as directed by providers.</li>
<li>Performs venipunctures, collects specimens, and prepares requisitions for laboratory and</li>

X- ray work as directed by providers.
<ul>
<li>Conducts vision and hearing screenings and administers First Aid under provider direction.</li>
<li>Performs electrocardiograms and places patients on Holter monitors.</li>
<li>Assists with admitting patients from the waiting area to the treatment room.</li>
<li>Prepares patients for treatment and examination by providers.</li>
<li>Is familiar with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Assists patients with discharge from the clinical area.</li>
<li>Is knowledgeable about all emergency equipment, tray contents, packs, and the location of equipment and supplies.</li>
<li>Cares for central supply equipment, ensuring safety, proper operation and maintenance.</li>
<li>Cleans and sterilizes equipment and instruments using the autoclave.</li>
<li>Cleans and stocks patient rooms after use.</li>
<li>Assists in cleaning and maintaining supplies in examination rooms.</li>
<li>Demonstrates infection control principles: hand washing, aseptic technique, sterile technique, and adherence to isolation procedures.</li>
<li>Is available and accessible at all times when on duty, attends required in-service education programs, staff, and departmental meetings.</li>
<li>Documents appropriate information in the client’s EHR and signs name and title appropriately.</li>

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
<ul>
<li>Able to relate to the health needs of the patient.</li>
<li>Critical thinking skills to interpret orders and observational skills to identify problems with images and ensure patients remain correctly positioned.</li>
<li>Able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language.</li>
<li>Optimize the use of technology and understand health care terminology, charting, picture archiving, and medical procedures.</li>
<li>Able to perform basic health care procedures that relate to patient care needs according to the nursing skill checklist.</li>
<li>Practices using current clinical practice standards.</li>
</ul>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>A minimum of 2 years working experience in a healthcare facility as an x-ray or radiology technician.</li>
<li>Minimum License(s) and Certifications(s) required: Certified Medical Assistant &amp; Basic Life Support. Must have the required medical licenses to operate in Georgia.</li>
<li>Must maintain certification by either re-examination or continuing education credit</li>
<li>Must have passed a Medical Assistant credentialing body examination upon hire.</li>
