You will work cross-functionally with CalOptima Health's leadership, data stewards, and security teams to establish/support data governance goals, policies, standards, processes and procedures. You will facilitate cross-domain collaboration and communication of organizational data standards. Utilizing tools such as Office 365/Power BI/SQL/SharePoint/Visio, your exemplary visual and written documentation skills will drive data stewardship and improve corporate data literacy. Also, you will have programming skills to automate processes (e.g. Python), a foundational understanding of big data platforms (e.g. Microsoft Fabric/Databricks/Snowflake), and a basic grasp of Azure fundamentals. The Director of Government Affairs leads the college’s engagement with local, state, and federal government officials and agencies. The Director is responsible for advancing institutional priorities and securing funding through legislative advocacy, policy analysis, and strategic coordination with elected officials. The Director will oversee the Government Relations manager and ensure alignment of advocacy efforts with the college's mission and strategic plan.
Duties &amp; Responsibilities&nbsp;
The following duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive but illustrate the general requirement of the position. The position reports to the College’s Chief of Staff, who may direct the Director to perform duties in addition to those listed below.
Key responsibilities:

<li>Develop and lead the college’s government relations strategy, ensuring proactive, year-round engagement with elected officials and policymakers.</li>
<li>Serve as the primary liaison to government offices and legislative bodies, representing the college’s interests at public hearings, policy meetings, and budget discussions.</li>
<li>Serve as a CUNY Legislative Council Member (CLAC), coordinating state and city funding opportunities and higher education advocacy with CUNY and the College.</li>
<li>Track and analyze proposed legislation and public policies that affect higher education, and provide regular briefings and recommendations to college leadership.</li>
<li>Partner with the President’s Office, senior staff, and institutional stakeholders to identify funding opportunities and policy initiatives that support the college’s academic, capital, and workforce development goals.</li>
<li>Coordinate legislative advocacy efforts in collaboration with CUNY’s Office of Government Relations.</li>

What You Need to Get the Job Done
<ul>
<li>Must be team oriented and possess a positive attitude while working well with others. </li>
<li>Customer service experience including the ability to effectively perform the skills necessary to deliver exceptional service, such as communication, empathy, patience and organization.</li>
<li>Education A 2-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school preferred. </li>
<li>Experience 6 months to 2 years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Working knowledge of front and back office financial institution processes is a plus. </li>
<li>Understanding of networks and cyber security. Working knowledge relating to Microsoft server, exchange, and active directory preferred. </li>
<li>A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or high confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. </li>
<li>Must be able to work extended hours and/or travel off site when requested by management.</li>
<li>24x7 on call is required with on-site Saturday rotation duties.</li>
<li>Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.</li>
<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills</li>

In this role you will:
• Monitor and keep supervisor informed of status of information security and confidentiality conditions, including problem areas and recommended enhancement • Interface with user customers to understand their security needs and implement procedures to accommodate them including training and assessment • Assist with preparing for security audits (e.g. IRS, SSA, OCSE, FBI, SBOA) and remediating any findings; assist with creating and submitting reports relevant to security audits • Develop information security policies and standards for protection of information systems in compliance with state and federal requirements (e.g. IRS, SSA, OCSE, FBI, IOT) and guidelines (e.g. NIST SP 800-53) • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for implementing security polices • Recommend appropriate security safeguards to be included during development of new information technology systems and legacy systems • Ensure maximum utilization of computer hardware and software features to secure automated systems and associated data • Develop and implement procedures for use of information security management software • Propose information security software enhancements • Perform periodic audits to assure security policies and standards are being followed and are effective • Develop recommendations for enhancements and generates reports where necessary • Keep abreast of new laws and changes affecting privacy standards, network security, cloud security, remote access, and physical security
