Responsibilities 50% Advocacy: Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President for Federal Governmental Relations, the Director serves as one of the university's primary advocates in Washington and advocates on higher education and research-related business and finance issues, including labor relations, tax, contractor management, capital assets and infrastructure, economic development and intellectual property, and student athletics. In this role, the Director has direct contact with members of Congress, congressional committees and staff, executive branch representatives and agency officials, university leadership and higher education representatives from peer institutions and higher education associations. The Director identifies, analyzes, monitors and advocates on congressional, executive branch and federal agency activity related higher education and research-related business and finance issues. Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre (CVRep) seeks a full time Major Gift Officer to head their fundraising program for the theatre. The successful candidate for this new position will have experience in various aspects of development including major and planned gifts, annual fund, donor relations, corporate and foundation giving and special events. We expect candidates to be prepared to make phone calls, initiate contact with new and potential donors, as well as run planned fundraising campaigns. Knowledge of the Coachella Valley philanthropic community is a plus but not required for this position.
Major and Planned Gifts Development: 
<ul>
<li>Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects by building on existing relationships and forming new donor relationships on an ongoing basis.</li>
<li>Identify and steward prospective new donors. Create lists for new donor prospects and make phone calls to such perspective donors. Cultivate the board and committees, soliciting them for annual support as well as special giving opportunities.</li>
<li>Partner with the Executive Artistic Director (EAD) on donor calls and work to schedule meetings to solicit gifts and engage prospects in the life of the theatre. Work with the EAD to solicit annual support for season sponsorships from individuals, foundations and corporations. This includes cultivating existing sponsors as well as the identification of new sponsors. Establish a planned giving program for the theatre and utilize these efforts as part of the opportunities available to support CVRep. This includes the development of marketing materials for print, web and electronic communications.</li>
<li>Conduct research on potential prospects to identify their interest in theatre and their capacity to give.</li>
<li>Develop and implement fundraising strategies to include the development of case(s) for support for specific needs of the theatre and to use as a cultivation and marketing tool with potential donors.</li>

Annual Giving

<li>Design an ongoing annual giving program to provide an ongoing source of unrestricted gifts for the theatre.</li>
<li>Plan and execute regular mail and electronic solicitations and utilized special opportunities to solicit prospects.</li>
<li>Analyzing donor behavior, campaign performance, and other fundraising metrics. Seek funds through&nbsp;targeted&nbsp;special&nbsp;events to support the organization and its programming.
Corporations and Foundations 
	Work with the grant writer to assist and prepare grant proposals to support special initiatives of CVRep as well as ongoing needs of the theatre. Develop a portfolio of corporate and foundation funders by researching and identifying those whose mission fits within the scope and needs of CVRep.
Major Gift Officer experience requirements
	Seeking candidates who have experience working in a non-profit business setting and leadership position.&nbsp; Have several years of experience in the same or similar position.&nbsp; Have the ability to manage multiple projects at once and are familiar with managing budgets or fundraising in other capacities.
Major Gifts Officer education and training requirements
Seeking candidates with&nbsp;a bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, economics, or a related field. Those with a master’s degree or other certification relevant to the industry are preferable. Candidates with additional Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are an asset.

About the Positions
To meet areas of university strategic growth in global graduate education and impact, New hires will join an excellent, experienced and dynamic faculty and staff highly committed to exceptional education and student experience, the School for Professional Studies at Saint Louis University is seeking multiple, full-time faculty in the areas of information systems, cybersecurity, analytics, research methods and related disciplines.
All are open-rank, non-tenure track full-time faculty positions, with a nine-month contract running from August to May (renewed annually, with multi-year contracts possible after the first year). Candidates will teach up to seven graduate-level courses during the daytime with the bulk of the teaching occurring on campus. However, there is the possibility to teach select online sections if need dictates. There are also potential summer, flexible, online teaching opportunities.
As these are primarily teaching roles, research is supported but not required. However, active researchers and those with grants may be eligible for a reduction in teaching load. The Division of Research consists of Sponsored Programs Administration, the Office of Research Compliance, the Division of Laboratory Animal Research, and the Office of Environmental Health and Safety. Four of the university’s 29 centers and institutes also report to the Vice President for Research.

The research ecosystem is a key driver for economic growth, for the revitalization of Detroit, and for addressing real-world challenges in rapidly evolving urban environments across the globe. Engaging students at all levels enhances the research mission, as well as students’ academic experience and career preparation.
In support of the mission and strategic plan of the university, the next VPR will be tasked with the following opportunities and expectations:

Specifically, in connection with the above, the VPR will:
<ul>
<li>Oversee the work of the OVPR, Integrative Biosciences, Sponsored Program Administration, Research Compliance, Research Communications, Research Development, Translational Sciences and Clinical Research Innovation, Division of Laboratory Animal Research, Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics (dual with School of Medicine), Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Institute of Gerontology, and the Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Develop and implement a vision, plan and policies to guide the university's broad research portfolio in achieving the research goals of the university through regular consultation with researchers and research advisory groups across the campus. Work closely with colleges, schools and centers to advance the broad research mission of Wayne State University. Develop innovative ways to support faculty in seeking grant opportunities.</li>
<li>Develop strategies to ensure the necessary research infrastructure is available and aligned with existing research strengths and emerging research opportunities.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with all federal, state and university regulations governing research, and ensure that research is conducted according to the highest ethical standards.</li>
<li>Work closely with the Provost and research faculty and advisory groups in the schools, colleges and centers to develop, refine and implement a university-wide vision and strategic plan to strengthen the university’s research portfolio and raise its research ranking.</li>
<li>Work with the Office of the Provost to strengthen research within the academic programs, departments and centers or institutes.</li>
<li>Work with the Graduate School to recruit top doctoral students.</li>
<li>Promote multidisciplinary and translational research opportunities across the university, as well as identify, develop and nurture innovation, collaboration, and strategic research initiatives.</li>
<li>Partner with TechTown, the university’s affiliated business incubator and accelerator, to encourage the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem both within WSU and across the region.</li>
<li>Participate on the steering committee for the Office of Business Innovation, the university’s central resource for student entrepreneurship, technology commercialization and corporate relations.</li>
<li>Serve as a member of the leadership team for the University Research Corridor, an alliance of Michigan’s three leading research institutions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the senior leadership team of the university, sharing common university-wide goals and accountability with other team members.</li>
<li>Develop, oversee, implement, fund and assess research initiatives as identified in and aligned with the university’s strategic plan; participate in strategic planning efforts.</li>
<li>Advise the President, Provost and Deans on research initiatives, policy and operations.</li>
<li>Communicate research results and information to research faculty, university administrators, and other internal and external research constituencies.</li>
<li>Cultivate relationships with governmental granting and regulatory agencies and industry to aid in improving WSU’s research efforts and identification of research opportunities.</li>
<li>Foster an environment that recognizes research excellence, collegiality, and scholarship across the university.</li>
</ul>
Professional Qualifications and Key Attributes:
