The Chief of Endocrinology will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the&nbsp;Division. The Division Chief will be responsible for all planning, policy, operations, and&nbsp;oversight of academic, research, and clinical programs of the Division. The Chief of Endocrinology&nbsp;will have financial authority over the division&nbsp; budget, including extramural research and&nbsp;philanthropic funding received and other financial matters for the division, in accordance with&nbsp;applicable University policies and practices. The Chief of Endocrinology will have discretion in&nbsp;the recruitment and retention of division faculty who will have a direct reporting line. The Chief of Endocrinology will also play a prominent role in&nbsp;the establishment of a Diabetes Research Center with the support of an ongoing University of&nbsp;Arizona (UA) capital campaign and the continued development of an NIH - T32 training program in&nbsp;diabetes, endocrine, and metabolism.

<li>Collaborate with Academic Affairs and other educational offices at the College to ensure the&nbsp;division and their faculty are advancing the mission of the medical student, graduate student, and&nbsp;graduate medical education teaching programs.</li>
<li>Responsible for maintaining liaison with other clinical and/or basic science departments to foster&nbsp;an integrated teaching environment for the College.</li>

<li>Performs client Evaluation and Assessment at least every 90 days, and nurse supervisory visits, periodically, depending on the nature of the client’s condition, and the level of skilled nursing provided, including supervising caregivers at the client site.</li>
<li>Communicates with the client’s physician as needed to ensure that accurate information is provided to the physician and that needed orders are followed and available for the physician (e.g. blood-work). Assesses previously hospitalized individuals on return to the home and reassesses all clients, to ensure that all needed services or changes to services can be provided by the appropriate caregiver.</li>
<li>Provides training to employees (as a group and individually) and administrative staff as needed and requested. Training would include (but is not limited to) in-service’s on the plan of care, nursing assessments, blood-borne pathogens, universal precautions, drug references, medication administration, and care of individuals receiving specific treatments or in need of special precautions (e.g. seizures, shunts).</li>
<li>Oversees the administration of medications by observing each staff person administer medications at least every 30 days and reviewing the Medication Administration Records (MARs), at least monthly.</li>
<li>Providing quality nursing to the clients in their care, placing emphasis on the medical/ psycho-social/spiritual needs of the clients, and to be mindful of the needs of the relatives and /or caregivers;</li>
<li>Maintaining nursing standards and client services/care to a level that ensures client safety and quality of care. And complying with the professional code of ethics,</li>
<li>Maintaining proper client documentation including updating client charts timely, and in accordance with HIPAA regulations. General Computer Skills.</li>
<li>Observing and participating in Quality Improvement Programs and activities relating to the provision of care to the home health care client.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and leadership skills. Fostering collegiality between all members of the health care team. Participating in appropriate meetings / committees, and actively participating as an "enthusiastic" member of a multi-disciplinary team.</li>
<li>Assisting with cost containment by utilizing resources effectively.</li>
<li>Demonstrating accountability and responsibility for your own actions.</li>
<li>Practicing within the limits of own abilities and qualifications including, actively seeking information if unfamiliar with client diagnosis or any aspect of client care and actively seeking knowledge of any medications administered.</li>

Qualifications:
<ol>
<li>Must have an active registered nurse license issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing.</li>
<li>Must have at least two year’s experience in providing skilled nursing services in the home health care setting.</li>
<li>The use of a vehicle and a valid Maryland Driver’s license.</li>
<li>Experience working with individuals with moderate to severe medical conditions in a home environment.</li>
<li>Current CPR and First Aid certification.</li>
<li>Available to respond to emergency calls, as necessary.</li>

<li>Successful completion of Maryland’s criminal background investigation.</li>
<li>Obtain annual verification from a licensed medical provider that the individual is physically able to perform the requirements listed in this job description.</li>
<li>Proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or declination required</li>
<li>Obtain an annual PPD and TB test indicating that the individual does not pose a communicable risk to the public.</li>
<li>Complete a skills assessment and competency test.</li>
