Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance at Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) has oversight of the financial, risk management and information technology operations of the organization. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Finance is delegated a high degree of responsibility to recommend and implement fiscal policies and procedures in partnership with university colleagues to ensure that ASI operates appropriately within the financial policies of the California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees and the University, while sustaining sound business practices, and strengthening the financial health of ASI.
The Director of Finance will sit as a non-voting member and serve as an advisor to the ASI Student Board of Directors, which doubles as the Sacramento State Student Government. &nbsp;&nbsp;
The ASI Director of Finance serves as ASI administrator in charge in the absence of the Executive Director.&nbsp;
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Accounting 
<ul>
<li>Oversees the supervision and management of all aspects of the functional areas of the Accounting Services department, including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, cashiering, fixed asset management, internal controls, policy development and implementation, legal, and audit compliance as well as maintenance of the general ledger.</li>
<li>Provides insight and education regarding ASI and CSU Sacramento budget and financial operations to the ASI Student Board of Directors, full-time staff, student-staff, campus partners and the student community at a level of their understanding.</li>
<li>Oversees the preparation of the annual financial statements and 990 for ASI and the Union WELL.</li>
<li>Facilitates implementation of quality standards and priority criteria for service processes.</li>
<li>Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction through assessment, staff training, and resource development. Ensures compliance with state and federal tax laws and reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Ensures compliance with all internal controls and identifies potential improvements to increase efficiency of operations and security of company assets.</li>
<li>Evaluates changes in policies, laws, and available resources for impacts and adjustments to related policies, procedures, and staff responsibilities.</li>
<li>Coordinates plans for testing, training, and implementing new and upgraded financial systems.</li>
<li>Manages corporate response to auditors during the annual external audit, CSU audits, and other agency audits.</li>
<li>Prepares reports and supporting documentation for year-end financial statements and state and federal income tax filings.</li>
<li>Reviews and approves internal audits of petty cash, change funds, and inventories of assets and resale products.</li>
<li>Responsible for all cash management activity within the organization to meet short and long-term financial requirements.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Examines and translates financial information related to specific business decisions, reports on operating results, cash flow, financial forecasts, restricted fund activities, investments and related issues.</li>
<li>Examines investments and consults with appropriate staff and investment managers regarding investment needs and maximization of investment income.&nbsp; Makes investment recommendations to the Executive Director.</li>
<li>Provides on-site accounting support for departmental special events (i.e. regattas, ski swap, etc.) as required.</li>
</ul>
Long Term Financial Planning, and Forecasting
<ul>
<li>Develops financial forecasts to determine necessary funding levels for ASI regarding distribution/allocation of fiscal resources.</li>
<li>Monitors the use of student fee revenue and recommends timing and levels of necessary fee increases.</li>
<li>Develops long-term capital funding plans and budgets including maintaining appropriate reserve increases.</li>
<li>Manages investment and banking operations.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Advises Executive Director on all financial matters.</li>
</ul>
Fiscal Services
<ul>
<li>Serves as an advisor to the ASI Student Board of Directors. Provides guidance and support to all elected ASI student officers, especially the ASI Student Vice President of Finance, in the fulfillment of their responsibilities, and to student club and organization officers on the use of ASI funds.</li>
<li>Organizes, directs and supervises the preparation of ASl's annual budget in accordance with the guidelines provided by the ASI Finance and Budget Committee.</li>
<li>Implements the approved budget, and works with ASI department directors to ensure that operations remain within the scope of the approved budget.</li>
<li>Coordinates with the ASI Student Vice President of Finance in the annual budget review process.</li>
<li>Develops and presents ASI budget to the ASI Student Board of Directors and reports on budget status throughout the year to the Student Board of Directors.</li>
<li>Oversees the management of corporate bank accounts.</li>
<li>Oversees internal audit plan; acts as liaison to external audit firm.</li>
<li>Monitors gifts and donations, sales tax liability, fixed asset management and inventory, insurance coverage, and contractual agreements that bind ASI.</li>
<li>Serves as a key resource to ASI Student Government/ASI Student Board of Directors regarding fiscal policies, procedures, and processes.</li>
<li>Fulfills ASl's responsibilities as fiscal agent for the State Hornet Newspaper and Union WELL.</li>
<li>Manages services as agreed upon in the Memorandums of Understanding, including completing and overseeing the financial transactions, record keeping, account collections and financial statements.</li>
<li>Maintains and update the Financial Policy Manual.</li>
</ul>

Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Ability to manage the quality and content of organizational finance and accounting, typically demonstrated by eight (8) years of experience managing the fiscal and administrative functions of a complex business unit or a large non-profit and/or the possession of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field. Relevant work experience may be substitute for required education.</li>
<li>Minimum five (5) years of experience compiling, developing, preparing and publishing comprehensive financial statements in a FASB and/or GASB environment.</li>
<li>Ability to analyze data, develop, and maintain complex statistical and management reports.</li>

What We Need&nbsp;
MI Poder is currently seeking a State Organizing Director. This person will lead MI Poder’s base building, issue, and electoral campaigns, and supervise organizers in MI Poder’s impact regions. The person in this position also develops and conducts training, leadership development, and campaigns that are available to all of MI Poder’s organizers and network partners. During municipal and statewide elections this position plays a major role in the success of MI Poder’s political ambitions of engaging and mobilizing Michigan Latinx voters. The State Organizing Director will help shape the strategy to increase Latinx voter turnout and define accountability metrics of voter engagement (including voter registration, voter education, get-out-the-vote, and voter protection efforts) during each election cycle. This position will collaborate closely with departmental leaders to design effective and engaging campaigns educating and empowering Michigan Latinx voters.
This position requires occasional travel to all MI Poder service areas during election seasons and is otherwise fully remote, with minimal travel for meetings.&nbsp;

Position Summary:
The Director of Member Services is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Member Services department, ensuring exceptional service delivery to Medicare Advantage members. This role ensures compliance with CMS guidelines, monitors call center performance, audits call quality and manages escalated member issues. The Director works closely with internal departments to improve processes, support team development, and maintain high service standards that promote member satisfaction and operational efficiency.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Demonstrates a solid understanding of the service operations process’, including all regulatory requirements to ensure department compliance with CMS. </li>
<li>Assists staff with researching claims, authorizations/referrals, contracts, and medical records reviews to ensure completeness of case work. </li>

Yet the conservative legal movement has led a decades-long effort to stack the courts with judges who favor the interests of the rich and powerful over the rights of all of us. It has never been more important to educate the public about who sits on these courts and how we can hold them accountable. AFJ and AFJ Action are committed to defending the integrity and independence of our federal courts with as much vigor as they defend us. Since 1979, AFJ and AFJ Action have been leading on federal court issues. AFJ educates the public about judicial appointments and advocates for the appointment of judges committed to equal justice. AFJ also co-leads a coalition of progressive organizations dedicated to ensuring that our federal courts are filled with demographically and professionally diverse judges of the highest caliber committed to upholding and expanding our rights and democracy. The Federal Research and Advocacy Director will oversee AFJ and AFJ Action’s work to develop advocacy-oriented research that supports a rights-expansive judiciary; to lead a research team who advance advocacy efforts; to research and write reports on federal judicial nominees and some executive nominees; to research and write about major cases in the federal courts and trends in judicial philosophy and judicial nominees; to leverage research to raise awareness about the importance of the federal judiciary; to expand AFJ’s relationships and networks to ensure research is utilized by the Hill, AFJ members, partners, and stakeholders; and to directly engage in federal court confirmation campaigns. Duties and Responsibilities: The Federal Research and Advocacy Director will be familiar with the landscape of federal judicial selection and will ideally have direct experience engaging in judicial selection advocacy and research. As a member of the Justice Program’s leadership team, the position will help plan research and advocacy that advances organizational and team goals. The person serving in this position will:

<li>Develop strategy and set an advocacy-oriented research agenda in service of AFJ and AFJ Action’s program priorities promoting the importance of federal courts and the judges and justices who sit on them.</li>
<li>Direct AFJ and AFJ Action’s advocacy related to federal courts – including campaigns to support or oppose particular nominees – and manage staff to execute program priorities. </li>
<li>Serve as AFJ’s lead federal advocate, leveraging research to drive Hill strategy. </li>
<li>Oversee research-based materials development, working with Communications, Outreach, and other AFJ and AFJ Action teams, for all AFJ and AFJ Action projects related to the federal courts. Substantive materials include reports, vetting documents, hill memos, op-eds, blog posts, fact sheets, polling, and other materials for grassroots and voter education, media, and other audiences for our programs and campaigns. </li>
<li>Manage (including hiring, supervision, discipline, and firing) federal courts staff, currently comprised of two two-year fellows, ensuring staff is empowered and supported in meeting team and organizational goals as well as growing in their responsibilities and maximizing professional development.</li>
<li>Identify trends and opportunities in the federal courts landscape to make the greatest impact; devise and oversee research campaigns, including coordination with law firms, outside counsel, law students, and non-attorney volunteers. </li>
<li>Represent AFJ and AFJ Action to other organizations as part of coalitions on issues related to federal courts. </li>
<li>Serve as a thought partner for and, at times, assist the State Courts Director and Building the Bench Director with strategy, goals, and priorities for candidate research, pre-appointment and confirmation advocacy, and shared research priorities to highlight trends across state and federal courts, prioritizing building support for demographically and professionally diverse movement lawyers on the bench.</li>
<li>Maintain public facing research and campaign content such as online federal nominee and vacancy tracking materials, and AFJ Action federal courts content to ensure materials are timely and accurate.</li>
<li>Work with Outreach team to strengthen and expand AFJ and AFJ Action’s engagement with organizations and individuals in key states for federal judicial nominations work.</li>
<li>Speak at legal and policy conferences, serve as a media surrogate on behalf of AFJ and AFJ Action, and brief policymakers, academics, member organizations, and other audiences on all issues related to federal courts. </li>
<li>Lead, working across Outreach and Comms teams, convenings, strategy sessions, and coalitions of national and state-based progressive groups engaged on the federal courts.</li>
<li>Work with the development, and executive teams to secure funding for AFJ and AFJ Action federal court programs, including assisting with grant reports and proposals.</li>
<li>Advise the Justice Program Director, VP of Strategy, and AFJ President on all issues related to the federal courts and help prepare AFJ President for public appearances.</li>
<li>Help develop and regularly report on the progress that the federal courts team has made towards key performance indicators and implementing AFJ’s strategic plan.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>

 Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>J.D. and 8+ plus years of experience in legal policy or legal advocacy work preferred.</li>
<li>Familiarity with the landscape of federal judicial selection, with experience in campaign advocacy and management is strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Strong experience directing research to support advocacy, especially legal and candidate opposition research, with exceptional analytical, writing, and speaking skills.</li>
<li>Staff management experience, including hiring, supervising and supporting staff to achieve outcome-oriented results, strong delegation skills, and supporting professional development.</li>
<li>Experience working on or closely with decision-makers on the Hill</li>
<li>Strong project or campaign management experience, with demonstrated ability to prioritize and keep multiple projects on track.</li>
<li>Experience leading work in coalition and partnerships, with familiarity with the progressive nonprofit sector. </li>
<li>Solid understanding of nonprofit organization operations (including the difference between c3 and c4 appropriate activities).</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience breaking down legal topics to non-legal audiences.</li>
<li>Meticulous eye to detail to ensure high quality, accurate research and final products. </li>
<li>Experience with funders or fundraising and grant writing preferred.</li>
<li>Experience with media and public appearances preferred.</li>
<li>Experience in civil rights, labor, environmental, consumer and/or constitutional legal movements preferred.</li>
<li>Ability to work quickly under pressure, with shifting deadlines and priorities.</li>
<li>Long hours and some travel required.</li>
